Got this up and running this week and it's a dream. Are there any plugins or anything I should add?

Main ones I have are the IPTV Player and the XCPlugin. Box is running OpenVix.

If it's doing all you want don't mess with it. ;) Oh and make sure to make a backup once your happy with it.
Too many add-ons just slow the box down.

    Thanks.

Is it possible to remotely login to the box from a Laptop say (outside of my home network) and watch TV on that laptop or would the video be too choppy?

    Yes.

On a PC just type the name of the IP LAN in your browser. ie 192.168.1.x (where x is the IP given to the box) Click on Channels and Click on Channel Name. It will doanload a small stream file which you can play with VLC.

There is also an free AP for Android called VU+ Player HD which will allow you do the same on Android devices.

If I'm not on my home network though how do I access it if I know it's local IP address?

    Quick question

I have been advised to get a terrestrial USB tuner to add a second T tuner if I get this box

Now, it seems it only has one USB port, is that not needed for the EPG or can I connect a wired net connection to the box for that?

Also what OS version do lads rec I choose for pre installation?

While I'm at it, what is a good USB terrestrial tuner stick to use for this? I often record RTE and TG4 at the same time so need it

The Formuler F1 has three USB ports so room for all of the above, but you can also connect via wired ethernet.

I got it with OpenVix and it's very easy.

Thanks I have decided to go with a Tiviar after advice as it can take the HDD internally so I'll get then them to add a 500GB for 40 pounds extra I couldn't even begin to think where I've left the old PC HDDs at this stage and don't fancy having an externally powered one as it will be knocked

I have a few 32GB cruzers lying around thankfully

if you have to flash box manually get a working kingston 8gb as e2 boxes are fussy yours is too large and may not flash box.

Plugged in my Formuler F1 and tried to tune in the box. what appears on the screen after I go through the menu

    Clean before scan
    Network scan
    Scan Tuner A(DVB-S) 28.2 Astra2E Astra2E/2F/2G
    Scan Tuner C(DVB-C) Dungarvan(ie)

My Sat.dish is tuned into Astra 2A so I'm not picking up channels
    Not plugged into saorview yet.

What do I need to do ?

I know it's no use to you now but I had the same issue. It was not as straight forward as I thought but I got it in the end.
When I get home I'll retrace what I did and post it here.

EEZIPC Have you found the info. for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,698 ✭✭✭dubrov

Saorview needs a DVB÷T tuner. Try to find a moment caked something like tuner configuration and change tuner C to DVB-T or DVB-T2. The scan fur you local transmitter.

I am not sure about the satellite end. Is it picking up any channels at all?

The dish isn't pointed at Astra 2A, it's pointed at 2E, 2F, & 2G, the satellites that are now at 28 degrees east. Astra 2A is an old satellite, so forget about it, even if it comes up in the menus of other receivers.

Martin. You have to setup both tuners. (one of your tuners is currently setup as a cable tuner rather than a dvb-t). You need to change that in the menus below, by going to the entry and right arrowing and it will change from dvb-c to dvb-t.

Press Menu Settings Tuner, Basic Settings. You will see both your tuners displayed. Use the North South East and West Arrows around the OK button to move between each. Press OK button on remote to change and then arrows to change the entries which are predefined.

The pictures below are from a Teamblue image but most images follow the same pattern. You'll see this first. Now arrow down to pick it and press ok.

Change the tuner settings so they match these.
    (DVB-S2 Tuner - Satellite)

    Saorview (DVB-T Menu)

I have the 5v turned on for an indoor aerial. Turn that to off if you are using a house aerial.
In each case press green (save) and it will save the config.

You can now go into the tune menu and make it tune both.

STB Thank you I will try to set as shown. Dubrov I got a saorview tuner installed when ordered. When tuning the 2 sat tuners will both have the same channels.
Thurston I have no problems getting channels on an Nordmende TV. so the Astra is ok.

yes have both setup as simple and single as on 28.2 and box has 2 sat feeds needed?

You will only have to scan the satellite channels once. The tuners use one channel list.

Are you any good with computers ? If you have this connected to the internet you will find it easier to sort the channels into one favourite list using your browser rather than a remote.

Thanks I have the internet point beside the box so will try and use the browser. Will do all the suggestions tomorrow hopefully and will report back.

Got the channels downloaded so now I have to figure out how to get the lap connected to get some deleting done and setup my favorites . Also when I look at the channel I notice that there is an ABC at the bottom of the screen ant it switch's between A and C when I move from sat. to saorview but nothing on B is this normal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,380 ✭✭✭STB.

When you say downloaded you mean you have scanned both the saorview (dvb-t) and satellite channels (Dvb-s2) ?

I'm guessing you have a scanned lists of both.

If you wish you can do this with a remote control if you think you are not up to the networking of the box.

Dont worry we can make the second satellite tuner read from the channel list as soon as I get Gerry Wicklows attention as I dont have this box. Im sure its something as simple as making tuner a and b equal to each other in a config change.

So lets concentrate on making a favourite list of both dvb-t and dvb-s2 sources.

Agreed, normally you would have satellite tuner B = A so they share the same channel lists

Jaysus. Without a PM that was quick.

Can you explain it for Martin. You have an F1.

PS might be an idea to either merge this with the other thread or rename it a support/questions thread. I'll ask ICDG.
