    no good tried playlist

Unless you have changed it the default recording directory is media/HDD,

So if you press playlist then yellow for location and then chose media/HDD it might be there.

if you had openvix i would say press green button and a tick should be seen for recorded.i presume when setting up box you mounted your hdd and is showing ext3 -ext4 in mounts?

When I press the green button I get a plugin menu and I can play recording using media player. I have openatv and mount ex4

Another question. I set box to record which I think it did but I cant find where to view recording.

In my case it is the "content" button, just below the zero. However that seems to change with some skins. Others here say that didn't work for them.

No Gerry that does not work for me.

Is there any way to stop a running commentary on some channels. I recorded a program last night and I got a commentary through the program when there was no talking by the cast.

SETUP>AUDIO>AUTO LANGUAGE SELECTION choose English and set "prefer AC3" to yes.

EDIT: To access recordings you could try either the "playlist" button or "help". They also access the list on my box

Gerry Audio is not showing in setup it was there top of the list on previous times I went into setup

Pressing the audio button and changing audio stream. ie from Nar to English.

Nar is audio decription. You dont want that.

Also this thing with the recordings Martin.

There is an option in the recordings menu/gen settings menu that asked you to dictate what the recordings directory will be. You must set that.

Also there is a menu in the settings that allows you to set any button to do whatever you want it to do.

Hello. I can't get the terrestrial tuner to work on my Formular 1. The satellite tuner works fine. My image is Open ATV 6.1.

I've tried all the permutations of settings I can think of. There is a signal on the aerial line. I just had it fitted and it works fine direct to the tv.

The terresterial tuner is called Tuner C: Si2168. The tuner type selected is DVB-T2. I've done a scan of my local transmitter (wookcock hill) and all the Republic of Ireland transmitters but not picking anything up. What am i missing?

Dont mind the fact that the image (I use a different e2 image, but the end result is the same) doesnt match this, but make your dvb-t2 menu looks textually like the image below (ie make sure the country and region match what it says below) . (if you just use an outdoor house aerial just leave the 5v at off) Then save and scan.

thats a strange region for us for scanning on?

Not really. Its just 8 meg spacing.

The problem is the Saorview TXs per regionalised pre defined settings is that they are all wrong!

Thanks for the pointer. Unfortunately it didn't work. I have tried reflashing from OpenATV to OpenViX and re-scanning to see if that made a difference but it didn't. Any other suggestions or failing this is there a way to check if the tuner / box is ok?

I read that Woodcock hill is 10 kilowatt power which is low compared to most other sites. Can you get a signal strength reading from the TV? It could be that the tuner in the TV is a bit more sensitive than the F1 tuner. Probably unlikely. What aerial do you have?

If that version of E2 is similar to the one in this link, you could check to see if there is any signal reading. Woodcock hill uses Channels 44 and 47, 658 and 682 MHz.

    Great minds..... DXHound.

Exactly what I was going to suggest.

    Tuner, Signal Finder

Make sure the Tuner selected is the DVB-T one

Then Tune is Prefined transponder and then go down to Transponder and left click the channels until you get a signal on the onscreen SNR meter. Then OK to scan. There will be two channel frequencies you have to scan.

Thanks guys. Tried all that no joy. The aerial is a new install. Unfortunately I can't get a signal strength reading from the TV. The picture when connecting the terrestrial aerial to the TV directly is coming through crystal clear with no pixelation.

I have the line coming through a signal splitter & combiner which I'll try and by-pass in case this matters. Failing that I'll try connecting using a set-top aerial elsewhere in the house where I know I have a signal to see if I can get that working. Hours and hours of fun!

Is there something that I am missing?

No enigma box will ever be ready to go as you will have unique variables. Things like your home network and whichever is your local Saorview mast. 7day EPG and series linking are there by default in openATV. Other images may need a few tweaks to get them running. In most cases the first time you set up an image it will "walk" you through the setup using wizards for network and channel scanning.

I'm back again ! When you say, 7 day epg ( presumably terrestrial and satellite ), and series linking are there by default in openATV , does that mean those facilities are preloaded and ready to play ? I know the box would have to be connected to my network and my local Saorview ( that much I could manage ! ), It's the rest that would bother me. I'm reasonably techy, but not in IT and installing software etc. If the box came ready to go with the above, I would be very happy.

Yes. The basic software add-ons (known as plugins), for EPG, series linking etc are usually installed by default. As a rule, the default settings should suit but are easily configured if necessary. Remember these boxes are aimed at a pan-European market, not just UK/Irl so they need to be set for our locality.

For example in the crossEPG downloader settings you choose from a list of options:-
CONFIGURE>Check that it storing the data to your HDD, not internal memory. This is normally selected by default.
Set a download time to suit yourself, in my case 05:00
OPENTV> it needs to know which satellite you are watching, in our case select the "OpenTV Astra 28E" option.

Press appropriate buttons to save your choices and exit. It may sound complex but when you see it "in the flesh" it is straight-forward.

You’ve been very helpful, thanks. I might just take the plunge into this brave new world of 7 day epg’s, series linking etc, without it having to be from a pay platform.

    Hi Guys

    Couple of questions

There was a power cut in my area yesterday and when I got home the box thought it was 25/12/2107
Hooked up the lan cable this morning and a couple of reboots later the date is correct

However now nearly every channel on my epg is blank, a couple are showing a small bit of info but most are blank
Any ideas how I can repopulate?

Also I have looked in the setting but can't find where I can set the box to auto shutdown when idle for a while?

    Thanks

Run the crossepg downloader plugin to repopulate the epg.

must try and remember that if using a usb tuner in a vu.

Read some where I think here cant find again that if you mount the ext hd to ext3/4 it wont work with a computer with win10 why is this. I'm traveling soon and want to download some movies to hd and use with my laptop while hanging around the airport/bus.

Because MS have decided their users should not, by default, be able to access ext partitions.
Instead Win often just offers to format the partition to delete everything on it.

    Go MS!

Thanks Johnboy is that the only reason ?

Nah, its just that windows does not regard someone using linux os types as important enough.

You can make windows read a EXT3/4 drive using Ext2Fsd

Yes, the only reason is that MS made a decision not to support use of ext in Windows.

Windows does not recognise the ext filesystem so Windows cannot mount it or make any use of it.

That is a decision of MS, as it is available to MS should they wish to allow their users access to the ext filesystem.

There used to be a third party driver or two to allow Windows to read data stored on ext partitions.
There was also another that allowed Windows to write to an ext partition, but it was problematic last time I looked.

The data was in danger of being corrupted, so I gave up quickly on that idea.
