Is your second tuner wired and setup correctly.

Both sat connections are wired (had skybox previously)

Recheck your f connector again as sometimes it does not make a connection in the port. Was it working before?

    Check in
    MENU>SETUP>RECEPTION>TUNER CONFIG
Tuner A should say something about Astra 28E blah blah and Tuner B should be configured as "Equal Tuner A"
(I'm not near a box now so working from memory)

If that looks OK, try swapping the cables and doing the previous signal finder test again to see if it is a cable / LNB issue.

It looks like the issue is that one of the tuners is not working (swapped the cables and neither will pick up anything on the outside sat connection. That's recent as I have returned a few times. Not that big a deal, though. When I got the box, I was sure there would be many occasions when I"d want to watch one channel and record another. It hasn't actually happened at all. The box is now recording everything I watch (I see the viewing list in the Playlist) even though I never set it to record. Is this normal ?

OK so this is a dumb question and I likely know the answer but...

If the tuners are being fed by a single connection from the lnb that is split before going into the tuners will it record from two different channels?

You can not split a satellite coax for different satellite tuners. Each sat tuner needs to send control signals to the LNB. Connecting 2 sat tuners to one cable would cause a conflict.

Thanks, I figured it wouldn't work

There is currently only 1 cable coming from the lnb, will have to figure out how to get up to it (on a chimney) and how to run the cable down

You could change the LNB to a Unicable LNB, and split the cable inside ..... but the tuners used would need to allow their settings to be edited for this to work.

Thanks, will look into that option if the formuler tuners are set up that way

    Push in for cable/terrestrial.
    F connector uses threads.

The audio description keeps playing when watching films etc. How can it be turned off on the F1?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,006 ✭✭✭martin6651

Try the Audio button on the remote.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 889 ✭✭✭boardtc

I was playing with that before I posted. MPEG has NAR, can't be changed. AC3 DT5 downmix both on. Audio channel left/right/stereo. Changing these do not help. Is that a way of changing NAR?

go into the audio settings menu and set PREFERRED LANGUAGE to English

I have had this box running happily for 3 years almost to the day and everything has been fine on Openvix.

    Until yesterday that is....

I switch it on the same as always and no picture coming through to the TV so I check everything and all looks good and can login to the IP address and see the web interface etc. and the box is displaying the picture and all good there.

After trying lots of things including different leads and TVs and a reflash of the newest Openvix I have come to the only conclusion that the HDMI port on this has failed totally unexpectedly.

I can still view through composite but no go with HDMI no matter what settings are selected etc.

Has anyone else had this happen to them and might have any ideas on what might be the cause?

Common if you plug in and remove cables while units are powered on as it blows the ports.
Have heard of it going with a power surge.

The HDMI cable has not been removed or the box moved even once in the 3 years it has been in position!

Also all the electrical equipment is plugged into a power surge protected extension lead and no other pieces of equipment are faulty.

I know any part can fail but without any kind of warning all of a sudden the HDMI port does not work, that is the first time I have seen that....

I did a search for you and found an entry on the f1 support forum, in german, they did all you did and then it went to tuner and the solution was never given.

Have you tried different resolutions ie 720p instead of 1080i and so on. And check you have not turned off the HDMI port, by accident.

I dont have the F1 but I know its rated.

hope you get sorted. I'll keep looking, not a lot else to do,

I would think you tried making sure cable is fully inserted, saddened of it just stopping and trying all avenues to fix it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,137 ✭✭✭reni10

Tried everything including different resolutions and cables and making sure it is seated properly etc.

It just stopped working just like that which I have never seen before...

You should get back to formuler support could be a software issue.

I've always had this audio commentary watching channels on my formuler box, for 2 years now, it's so annoying. Googling it seems to be called "SAP, Secondary Audio Program, Described Video, Descriptive Video, or Audio Description"

I've never found an option to turn it off. Does anyone know how?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,006 ✭✭✭martin6651

Have you tried the audio button on the remote when pressed you get
    1 Nar
    2 english
switch to english this has worked for me in the past.
