External USB attached HDD. I have a wifi dongle in the other USB port. Recording/timeshift,etc is all set to media/hdd. I think Tiavar is basically Formuler re-packaged. Can you show me a shot of what you have under "mounts" for the HDD ? I can't seem to add photos here.

I know the playlist button but there's nothing in there. Just blank.

I gave up using those usb passports as never got them to work and only use desktop hdd externally powered.

I think you need to hit a certain target of posts in order to post images or links (not sure on the exact criteria).

Greasepalm, that looks like an internal Hitachi HDD. Did you put in it some kind of powered enclosure and connect via USB ?

Nope external drive same as this and mains powered.I have about 5 of these 2tb ones.

Just out of interest are you pressing Ok when on latest recordings? Also you should try a smaller capacity usb stick. Its quite likely the F1 cant handle large usb capacity.

Yes, pressing OK. It's a HDD, not USB but connected but USB

Is it something like a portable [ passport ] type with just usb cable as i had 2 that would not work for me.

Yes, works on USB power. It does work for pausing live TV, fast forward, etc. The only issue is that recordings seem to disappear.

Try going into filezilla and see if you can see any files. Was your hdd setup on the box.On my box it is movie and not recordings.

The blue button doesn't do anything. What is Filezilla ?

HDD was initialised on the F1 box. Not used previously.

Are you using twin tuners or single? And is that hdd powered separately?

can you do a pic of your recording settings?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,990 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Even on a single tuner box recording will override what your looking at.
Filezilla allows files to me accessed on box from pc.

    Recording settings and timeshift settings

Mount manager and Playlist. Note the different HDD capacity in each.

Presumably you tried pressing the blue button to get to the movies folder rather than "latest"? That looks to me like you have ~80Gb used somewhere.

I personally don't like EMC and usually uninstall it. IMO it only clutters and confuses things. There's a lot to be said for the KISS principle. If you did uninstall the Enhanced Movie Ctr plugin it wont change any default settings but you would need to reboot the box.

The smaller number is Free space and is the other the total capacity .... size less overhead from formatting?

Had a look at your settings and a few are different to mine on the tiviar but I have internal hdd. If this is your only box then its tricky for you to tinker. I have preferred tuner as disabled, Allow quit movie is no. Return to movie has ask user with default as yes., background delete is interNAL hdd, for timeshift its hdd/timeshift, next line is movie, 2 minutes, dont save.

With your emc I have a later version, 20180324 = as yours 20180121.

These boxes are tricky and can take a lot of time messing to get them right. I dont know how expert you are and therfore dont know what tweaks you have tried. I still dont know if you have 2 tuners connected. If you have one tuner active and press record then other channels show be greyed out as tuner is busy.

The other point is why are you sticking with openatv? Openvix is a lot more user friendly and it now comes bundled with everything you need. And it is bang up to date but if you have only one box its a bummer trying to update it.

Nothing wrong with Openatv which I have been told is more stable than Openvix. I just looked at some settings. When I clicked on timeshift recording location I got this:

If there is nothing wrong with Oenatv why cant you record? And whoever told you openatv is more stable than openvix is lying. I have openatv, openvix, openpli, openblackhole, Blackhole, Pure etc.

I was trying to help you.

The latest openvix is a cracking image and knocks spots off of openatv and its a doddle to update it over the net.

This is the support site for openvix and I bet you cant find the same for openatv.

Whoo-hoo ! Recorded files found. I think it was dumping the EMC that did it. Thanks to you all for the advice.

Gerry can you please tell me how I can dwindle the 900+ channels to a useful 100 or even less.

Do you have autobouquet on your box ( plugin) which groups channels under headings called Favourites. In any Favourite list, you can delete/move any channel.

How can you tell if only one sat tuner is active ? The Openatv updates itself so I never have to. When I got this box, I had no idea how much tweaking would be needed, but so worth it.

MENU>SETUP>RECEPTION>SIGNAL FINDER> use left/right buttons to select which tuner A or B. You should see a signal level for both if all is OK

Just did that. 92% for A, nothing for B. What's happening there ?
