You never know with Waterford. They can pull a performance out of nowhere too. See what they did to Tipp last year. They can play too when they get going. I wouldn't write them off at all.

I think Cork are going to have a right crack at Limerick this year and think they can come out on top. They need to now.

    Cork 0-14 Waterford 0-5 HT.

Conditions are horrific. Such a shame for both sets of players playing in so much rain but there we are.

Don't like the ref flashing a few yellow cards. Its very difficult in these conditions.

Some very good play from Cork in that half. Jack Leahy looks very good and hope he recovers from that knock he took. Buckley playing well too.

Waterford giving each other a load of hospital passes which is leading them into trouble

I said it last year and I'll say it again - Jack Leahy reminds me of a young Hoggie, unreal points from play and rarely misses a free. Crossing everything in hopes he makes it to Senior

    A win on a scoreline on 1-10 v 0-21

A tit for tat free taking competition for most of the second half.

    Clare next weekend.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,397 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Comfortable win in the end. Conditions were so bad though.

Some really nice interplay from Cork and thats hard in the rain.

I said the same thing about Jack Leahy that he reminds me of Hoggie. Very accurate and then of course when I said that, he missed a free! But hopefully he keeps on his upward trajectory. He is such a handful.

A lot of good prospects on the team. A lot of players who can win their own ball and even the subs looked good.

Waterford to me looked poorly coached. They did a lot of brain dead things whereas Cork are the exact opposite. Everyone seems to know what they are supposed to be doing.

Clare beat Limerick so they will be a different challenge than Waterford with all due respect to them.

We were 7 v 6 down at ht having played against the strong wind.

10 minutes into the second half we are ahead 1-10 v 0-07, Chris Óg Jones scoring the goal - some man for goals.

We don't have any hope against Kerry in Killarney.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,865 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

A poor first half but we turned it around in the second half, and won pretty comfortably in the end. Let's have a right cut off Kerry now.

I think we do. I'd be really annoyed if we aren't competitive against them at the very least.

Kerry will have to be seriously poor for us to have a chance.

What annoys me is Waterford beat Tipperary today. This is the Tipp team that beat Cork in Munster final in 2020. Jesus Cork have been seriously bad for years now. Limerick leading at HT today is a serious worry for Cork going forward especially when we face Kerry next.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,865 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

We did give them a game last year and we're capable of doing it again. It will require what would be by far our best performance of the year though. We'd need to see a huge improvement on what we've seen so far.

One of the players last week was saying to the Echo that the critics got their answer or words to that effect anyway. The reality is that we haven't played division one football in eight years.

I don't remember us coming close to it either and we also spent a year in division three. We won't be winning all Irelands until we get back up to division one imo.
