Great finish to the game. Midleton look more dangerous inside the 21.

Lehane with a last second free to win it.

Barrs up by 6 at ht but that's a strong enough breeze that Sars are still very much in it.

Sars win by a point in the end, fine second half by them.

Cork didn't get over the line. Great Cork man you are and that always knocking your own...

I'm not comparing Hoggie and TJ. Just responding to your "you wouldn't see Canning or TJ missing them" comment. The point being that Canning and TJ have missed them.

Horgan won't get the same credit for the incredible things he's done in matches that ultimately didn't end in victory because he didn't have the supporting cast.

Midleton had already lost their fullback through injury - had a serious ganme in the semifinal but now Lehane looks to be out with an ankle injury too.

Sars would have been favourites anyway but 2 serious blows for Midleton missing both of them.

Both of todays finals are called off. They had brought the ga,e starts to an earlier time but it was the right call. Rain is only going to get worse and they are also probably trying to save the pitch for the gane tomorrow which is on RTE.

No rush playing the 2 matches today as neither grade progresses to Munster anyway. The right call

Sars 1-9 Midleton 1-3 HT. Sars with a much better opening spell and looking like running away with it but some poor finishing and Midleton gradually coming into it has kept it as a contest

Sarsfields 2-18 Midleton 1-13 FT. Far from a classic, plenty wides and handling errors from both. Midleton closed to within 4 a few times but result never really in doubt.

Awfully poor game. Sars won't care though.

    Nemo 1-9 Barrs 0-10 HT.

Knocknagree won the Senior A final earlier

    Sapage win for the Barrs.

Only a point in it and Nemo hit the post at the very end denying them a draw.

Great win for Knocknagree in the Senior A final and have made history by getting to the Premier Senior Grade for the first time ever in their history. Great performance by them on the day. From junior A in 2016 to Premier Senior in 2026, this has been a incredible rise from a small rural club. JFD must be doing something right down there.

Best wishes to Larry. Terrible to think a man so famous for his fitness as a player can be struck down like this

Jesus that all Ireland humiliation against Tipp still stings. I couldn't give a shite about League or Munster titles next year. Third place in the group in Munster will do me. What's so galling is that the rest of the country sees us as a bunch of softies, who don't have the heart for the battle when the going gets tough.

Unfortunately they are correct in that assesment! I'm hoping that Ben O'Connor will make us a tougher, harder, meaner and more cynical team in 2026. I'd like to see the traditional style of Cork hurling at its best, with a bit of aggression and nastiness thrown in.

The Aussie rules team Essendon in the 80's and 90's with Kevin Sheedy as coach are the base model i am using here. Modern day intercounty hurling is war without guns and bullets. We badly need to get with the program here!

Seriously last July burst every single bubble i ever had about Cork hurling. We are at rock bottom now in terms of our stature in the game, and we have to fight tooth and nail to restore our battered hurling pride. I have friends from Tipp. I respect Tipp and our storied rivalry with them, but i do dislike them more than i do Kilkenny now!

Cork will always have a chance of winning the AI, name 2 teams in a better position than them at the moment. New manager needs a few tweaks - not wholesale changes. New managers bounce?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

Well Tipperary would be one i suppose!🤣 I always wondered if Limerick fans despite all their teams recent success still suffer some trauma from that defeat to Offaly in 1994, because what happened last July could and probably does have the same affect with some Cork supporters! Unfortunately there will always be question marks over this Cork team until they finally produce the goods in an all Ireland final.

The McGrath Cup and Munster Senior Hurling League are back in 2026 as well:

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of those games don't get played due to waterlogged pitches.

The Limerick team of 94-96 disappeared after winning the League in 97. There was alot more left in that team, shocking bad management and county board politics to the fore. Offaly in 94 was a fluke - late goals and no time to recover. Wexford 96 was worse in my opinion - dire performance on the day, the team should have had enough experience from 94 to deliver in 96. Getting back to Cork, there will always be players there. Fans and players shouldn't do trauma- the beauty of sport is there is always next year, that what I tell my u12s here in Cork.

Just saw Sean O Donoghue saying on the All-Star Awards that it was a "good year" for Cork. Is he for real?

Don't get me wrong, I support Cork and I want Cork to win but that's just delusional talk. How can being beaten in an AI final for the second successive year be considered "good"?
