Great to see Connolly, Dalton, O'Mahoney and Fitzgibbon back on the pitch, not much else to learn from this

  • Registered Users Posts: 540 ✭✭✭Corcaigh84

Fitzy back with a goal and smiling, delighted for him. Hayes going straight for goals too since he's come on which is great to see and bagged one himself. Let's hope we keep the goal hunger up for the Munster championship.

Hayes and Fitzgibbon looked great when they came on. Really added to the team and thats what you want from subs. Some great performances all rpund and what I am glad to see is that we finished the game well which we did last year. Just once we cut out no scoring periods we will be up there this year. Also pleasing was the tracking and tackling even when the game was over. The hunger is there as well for goals.

In saying all that, it was only Offaly. I thought they would have more about them at home but maybe I thought they were further along than what they are. I didn't even think Screeney was playing until he was fouled by Tim O'Mahony. I would even suggest it wasn't a foul as he just crumpled in a heap. Not just him but the whole Offaly team need Strength and Conditioning straight away. All too easily muscled out of it. I would hope they have pin pointed this already as this takes time and would only see results next year.

A word about the ref. He was giving cards out like confetti. One where Dalton was running out with the ball and Offaly player tries to flick it away but nicks his hand. Obviously a free but not a yellow. Unless the guy did it again then yes. I suppose he is going by the rules but just can lead to red cards for small mistimed things. Now if its to the head, You would have to say yes. Then another time where Tim O'Mahony was deemed to be charging out. Bit harsh but ok its a free. He gets a yellow card though? Just seemed too fussy with yellows all the time. I say this watching all matches. Yellows should be kept for bad offences in my opinion. Ok, sorry for ranting!!

Still good to see us win and win well. Getting goals is great to see as scoring goals is a great habit to have! The variety of scorers is great to see. Still waiting to see Ben Cunningham so hopefully he is recovered from injury soon.

With the cards they'll give them for a 3rd or 4th foul, regardless of how soft it might look

Fine win. They left quite a few goals behind them I think, which is nice to say having scored 5.

    Offaly were awful altogether.

Let's not get carried away lads, it's only Offaly no disrespect but we need to judge ourselves against the top tier teams. We will see how they do next day out.

Speaking to few offaly people they were saying that it's young team but that's as easy as it gets.

Great win all same but bigger to come.

A bit off topic, just wondering with the amount of teams Cork have at underage level - sometimes 3 to 4 teams at 14 and 15 and up, I'm just wondering if you see any development between grades, of lads moving from the B or C panel at 14/15 to the A team by the time they reach under 16 or minor?

Big win yesterday....looked good. Whisper it for now but it could be Our Year

Roisin Phelan gone from the ladies football now too

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,045 ✭✭✭zetecescort

just on the retirements in the Ladies football, that there has been no mention of thanks on Cork LGFAs twitter or facebook is poor form. the LGFA has done it.

Bit weird for them to be retiring now and not during the off season. All well in the camp?

Historically, Shane Ronayne not the best man/woman Manager. So I can see how things could go to pot in that sense.

Offaly were poor but we dispatched them clinically enough. Much tougher tests to come though starting with Wexford this weekend. Hopefully the footballers can get one over Meath as well!

    Strong team for Wexford announced!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,079 ✭✭✭evolvingtipperary101

Apart from Jack O'Connor, is that the starting 15?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,419 ✭✭✭The White Feather

I think it has to be close. The injured would probably be starters too though. Mark Coleman, Robbie O’Flynn, Ethan Twomey and Seán Twomey are the injured players. Coleman and Robbie definitely if fit.

I think they said on the RTE pod that Coleman lost a lot of teeth and everything. Nasty injury. Is it broken?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,419 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Supposed to be broken alright. They said it was a slap of a hurley but I would have thought it was a mistimed shoulder or something like that. Pure speculation on my part.

Broken jaw is not meant to keep someone out that long though so I think he will play in Championship.

    Half time in the football

    Meath 0-7 Cork 1-4

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,400 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Cork were trailing by 3 with 10 to play but went on a real point scoring spree to win in Navan 1-15 v 1-11

Hurlers are flying too 2-11 v 0-05 Connolly with both goals.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,419 ✭✭✭The White Feather

    Football finished

    Meath 1-11 Cork 1-15

Well done the lads!!! They went 3 down near the end and then turned it right around to go 3 up.

Hurlers are doing very well as I type

    Cork: 2-11(17) Wexford: 0-5(5)

It's near the end of the first half. Connolly in the goals again with 2. He really has an eye for them. Great asset this year

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,419 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Half time now in the hurling

    Wexford 0-5 Cork 2-13

If Kilkenny lose, which they are at half time against Waterford who are up by 2, and Cork win, we will actually get a semi final place so you never know.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,045 ✭✭✭zetecescort

While taking the opposition into account it's great to see us go for goals rather than take the handy point.

    Kilkenny 3 up into injurytime

  • Registered Users Posts: 540 ✭✭✭Corcaigh84

Two hattricks in a row for Connolly.

Great result for the hurlers. Connolly loves banging in goals
