Honestly it wouldn't make any difference. All the men and women in Newstalk have the same opinions. "We are liberal Borg" Hook was good this morning though, for however long he lasts before he's hounded out again.

I think Andrea Gilligan does a great job on this slot.Should be given the show and let Ciara back to the medicine.

I just caught a few minutes of her. She sounded pleasant enough. Is she on for the week?

I wonder would she have been a bit miffed that she, as a long term Newstalker and far more experienced broadcaster, was not offered the job.

Promo for Ray Darcy's show has Dr Kelly on as a guest today, but she can't show up to present to the show with her name attached to it?

She is missing every Monday because of Operation Transformation. It raises her profile and it's more beneficial for her programme than showing up every Monday. Some criticism here is absolutely ridiculous, some are so blinded by dislike that all their capacity to think was lost.

    Ah, come on man.

If she introduced herself as Dr. Ciara, that would annoy you too.

I'm pretty sure "Ciaran" would be grand, though...

Plenty of Newstalk male broadcasters have been bashed a LOT more harshly than the doc around here.

    The sexism thing is tiresome.

I agree. If only people would stop being sexist.

You're the only person rattling on about sexism. No one was being sexist.

You obviously have an agenda you want to ram down a few throats but surely you'd be better of finding a thread that actually contains some sexism for that.

Just listened to interview with Regina Doherty (masochistic I know) where questions were asked about some single mothers playing the system (as with non declared shacking up). It seems even Fine Gael have fallen for the (useful at times) siren call of cultural Marxism. The texters were promptly labelled as sexIst. End of argument. Ciara agreed. So it is OK for some women to gain the system just because they are women. All victims therefore behavior is irrelevant if not justified.

Id say it sounds better than Irelands Call though.

I've had my fill of it at this stage - she is occupying a space between Ray D'arcy and Joooooe Duffy that I have no interest in listening to. Plus the mindnumbing repetition of topics across Pat Kenny, herself and Ivan Yates, means it quickly gets very tedious. Every thing is a disaster and a calamity in her eyes.

I accidentally started listening to it after Pat Kenny. Switched over to Ronan Collins when she said 'yeah, yeah, is this what 1916 was for' in relation to hotel prices in Ireland.

I was listening to Pat Kenny this morning, he covered hotels and broadband. Ciara Kelly came on with her little bit about her upcoming show. The first 2 topics she mentioned...

    That was pure cringe.

Children and smartphones is getting boring. The show does have a habit of repeating itself.

How is that they keep using the exact same topics on different shows through the day? It's more than a little bizzarre.

Was particularly awkward during the handover today when Pat was like 'oh, we discussed that already'.

She wants them banned for anyone under 16. That'll protect them from the evil Internet because it's apparently only accessing the Internet on a smartphone that causes a problem. Children must not know how to use tablets or laptops or pcs or xboxs or PlayStation or smart tvs or any of the other Internet enabled devices on the planet.

For someone who is a doctor she comes across as braindead 90% of the time. No wonder the health service is a shambles.

what would you suggest ..do fcuk all except begrudge at every opportunity...thats another problem with the net it encourages serial whiners and gob****es to spout off as if they had something constructive to offer...maggots! Well youre in the right place that's for sure.

...don't think she has an issue with devices for youngsters as long as they are supervised...and does offer the complementary and earth shattering solution of actually saying no to your child..

Ciara Kelly letting herself down badly on the subject of the Prince Albert statue removal - coming across as a complete populist fool.

:) The breakfast show did that one this morning, was a good piece I thought although not enough to listen to again at lunch

God she has basically become a real life version of Helen Lovejoy, every show basically revolves around how to twist any topic into "somebody think of the children"

Missed the show for the last few weeks thankfully but had the pleasure of hearing her spouting nonsense about Jennifer Lawrence being slut shamed by wearing a dress at a photo shoot for her new movie and all the males were wearing jackets and scarves. How is she still at this nonsense with the "women good, men bad" agenda? It's every feckin show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,201 ✭✭✭✭J Mysterio

I had the misfortune to hear a moment today before quickly changing the dial. Ciara was - with her customary enthusiasm and glee - introducing a segment on cancer where she proclaimed that 1 in 3 of us will get cancer in our lifetime. "We'll discuss the statistics" she says with delight. Eh what? Fùck off please!

Actually she was criticizing the negative attention Jenifer Lawrence was getting for that dress. There was no women good men bad agenda. Jenifer Lawrence was slut shamed by feminists and she was critical of that. But to understand that you need to engage at least one brain cell.

Did i say she was criticising or condoning it? No. I just said it was nonsense, just like the whole show she presents. Maybe read properly before getting on that high horse of yours.
