    Nadal isn't looking great...

Perhaps I spoke to soon he seems to have weathered the storm

I literally need to stop rooting for people this tournament, because everyone I want to win promptly loses. Kyrgios, Zverev, Osaka, Ostapenko ffs. Despite how chaotic things have been at times, we could still get #1 vs #4 in the top half of the women's draw, but I've a feeling we could be looking at Vandeweghe getting her first slam final :|

Muguruza-Kvitova is the obvious highlight of the day, hope it's a good match instead of a hot mess. In theory I'd be happy with either winning, but I feel Muguruza would do more with the win, and I'd like her to get the #1 ranking too, so I think my heart will be with her tonight.

I really feel like Sharapova is going to win!! She is a woman on a mission!

Can't see her winning, she could lose to Sevastova today, all that slicing and dicing may throw her off. I think a semi-final against Muguruza or Venus would be the absolute furthest she goes, but I could be wrong. Would be bizarre if she won the US Open for the first time in eleven years in these circumstances though.

    She probably beats Sev 6-0 6-0 now...:p

But yeah think today is a very tough match. Mugu looks to have gone into beast mode so will need a hell of a performance to beat her.

The Correno-Busta v Shapovalov match was very enjoyable.

Shapovalov looks like he's going to be a star of the future he's great to watch.

He's rocketed up the ranking these past few weeks. Should be direct entry to the big events from now on, which can only help his cause.

He's brilliant isn't he. I was really rooting for him to win. Definitely think the qualifiers etc hurt him. Hopefully that won't be an issue in the future. 100% one to watch.

Can see Maria winning this in straight sets

Some nice shotmaking from Sevastova here, 5-2 up, she should do it from here. Doesnt all have to be raw power.

Don't like Maria, but even ignoring happy that Sevastova is in the quarter final as really fun to watch. Her or Sloane in a semi final is pretty cool.

Deary me. Well, I think if you asked any Sharapova fans before the tournament if they'd take the 4th round they'd have bitten your hand off... but I'd much rather she get blown off the court by Sloane or Muguruza than lose to f*cking Sevastova :o

Sev not that much of a mug though, played well all week and confused the hell out of Mugu and Konta last year. I'd be a little concerned about her in a semi as over achievers on the WTA generally get hammered at that stage though.

Still on course for a Goffin v Schwartzman final on the men side.:D

Anderson's service game looks ridiculously good right now.

And then he drops his first next game lol

Good match up this Muguruza v Kviova. High quality tennis so far, Kvitova very competitive if she gets her second serve in order.

Anyone else up for Zverev Querrey...
Rooting for Zverev! Really hope he can do the job here. All my favourites are dwindling!

Very disappointing we didn't get a third set of that! Feel bad for Garbine, but Petra really was a horror fourth round draw. Sure Garbine's level fell from the middle of the first set onwards, but the match was also a pretty good example of the old tennis adage that if Petra's shots are finding the lines, there's little that can be done to stop her. Thrilled that one of either Venus or Petra will make at least the semi's, and what a match their QF could be!

I'd LOVE to see Venus or Petra win the whole thing. They have both been through so much it would be amazing!

Sam Querrey serve is phenomenal yes, BUT... yawn... So boring to watch!

Agreed, particularly Petra. It's quite amazing that she's even playing tennis at all, let alone at this level. Quite a graphic photo of her injured hand was leaked online a couple of weeks back, the top half of her left index finger was half hanging off. Apparently she still doesn't have full feeling in her fingers, so as I said, it's incredible that she can do what she did to Muguruza tonight.

Hard to tell if Querrey has been awesome here or Mischa has been awful, ...probably a combo of both.

I was really surprised how much support she got from the crowd. Do they not realise she's a drug cheat?

She should have received a life ban.

Anyway I'm glad she's been knocked out and hopefully she continues to get knocked out as early as possible in other tournaments and retires.

I doubt that though. She'll improve.

It's gas though, even with how outrageously inconsistant she was she still managed to reach the 4th round. Shows how poor the women's division is right now.

Ah lads was Zverev injured or something? 6-2 6-2 6-1 against one trick pony Querrey?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76 ✭✭yummymummyjay

He received treatment a few times during the match. He wasn't himself at all. Raging as I really can't stand Querrey. Very fond of the Zverev brother's. Quite a few good matches today

I don't think it was leaked. I'm sure I read that Petra had agreed to release the pictures to show the skill of the surgeons and show her appreciation, or something like that. I know at Wimbledon she still couldn't properly close her hand around her racket.

That's rich considering the **** show of a men's draw happening this week.

In fairness I never said the men's division was anyway outstanding.

My comment was solely based on the women's division which is worse than a **** show right now.

Sharapova was horrendously inconsistant yet she still managed to get to the 4th round. Hardly an endorsement for women's tennis.

Del Potro vs Theim is a tasty one today, its the last match on Grandstand so hopefully it will be on at a decent hour and hopefully Eurosport will show it.  Nadal is on second today against Dolgopolov be interesting to see what Dolgopolov can do .

Sharapova's always been wildly inconsistent though. Even when she's winning big tournaments she makes a meal out of lots of matches.

There's making a meal of a match and then there's missing shots a 7 year old would be making.

She's waaaay off here old pace footwork and consistency wise.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad as I really don't believe she should be there in the first place but it was piss poor.
