I'd love to see Rumble get the belt but think it will go the same as last time. DC will be very weary of the standup, he'll let Rumble tire himself out and sub him again.

Weidman needs a win so bad, would really like to see him get back on form, I really can't call the fight at all.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭wonderfullife

Weidman and DC both looked like absolute death warmed up today at the Open Workouts. I'm not particularly worried about DC, he's an animal, but I fear for Weidman, he should have taken more time off after the damage he took in his last 2 fights.

Think if dc can bring it into the latter rounds he will get the finish. Although rumble may try take it easy and save his energy. I reckon he needs a stoppage to win this fight and may gas again.

Think the pressure will be too much for weidmann and mousassi gets the win on points.

Main and co main are very good fights but rest of the main card has no appeal to me except for the opening fight

Seen DC Jones so hoping for a new match up in Jones Rumble, Mousasi is not that explosive but Weidmans chin is probably gone so wouldnt be surprised if he finished Weidman.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

if dc gets to around the 7/8 minute mark there'll only be one winner
dc by sub again for me
weidman will do nothing but go for takedowns, probably the only way he wins it
not sure mousasi has the power to put him away either, weidman too tough for his own good
can't wait for the usman fight, that guy is so exciting, real contender for fotn

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,940 ✭✭✭Tazzimus

Scary as Rumble is, DC took his hardest shots last time and still got back up.
I think he's a whiney ****e personally but I cannot deny he is as tough as they come. Man can take a beating.

I see DC retaining and Mousassi upsetting Weidman. Weidman looked in bits for the training

Don't see the point in a PR stunt nobody Stateside watches the early morning weigh-ins.

Rumble looked heavy yesterday but we'll see.

True, maybe get people talking about the fight cant see fighters being too happy hanging around though while on weight feeling like death so my theory is rubbish on second thoughts, 4 minutes and counting....

    Rumble 203.8

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 735 ✭✭✭Django99

What do ye reckon about that? Very suspicious

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭wonderfullife

Internet is calling shenanigans claiming DC held down on the towel when he weighed in the 2nd time to take some of the weight off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,209 ✭✭✭maximoose

    Yeah what just happened :pac:

Reading that he was pushing down on the towel?! Would that really make a difference

    100%.

Stand on a scales at home and push down on a radiator or hand-rail, your weight will drop on the scales. Same as lifting your heel off the scale it'll lower it.

Just watched the weigh-in replay, clear that DC was leaning on the towel. Pure dodge.

    Pure dodge.

    Anyway fight goes ahead.

    DC looked rough!

Was there cameras on the scale at all times?

Dc 1.2lb over, comes back 2mins later bang on 205 then rumble walks in looking like death exactly 1.2lb UNDER?

    That is some coincidence.

Mad shtuff altogether. Brett Okamato said he clearly saw DC lean on the towel but NYSAC say he didn't.

Reckon the jury fight or usman fight will be bumped up to main.

What a shocking rule for female fighters

    Miesha fought in msg?

So would you care if Khabib stepped on the scale at 161lbs at UFC 209 and leaned on a towel to get down to 155lbs? How about 158lbs and lifted his heel off the scale by a fraction to make it? Is it because it was only 1.2lbs that you don't care? Johny Hendricks forfeited $60,000 for missing weight by 0.25lbs for UFC 200 yet DC cheats his way into weight and forfeits nothing.

    How is that fair?

I get as a fan, on some levels, we shouldn't care because we get a title fight. I also get as a fan we should care that the rules are applied fairly to everyone otherwise it becomes a farce where fighters can rock up overweight and, if the card depends on them, the UFC or Commission will rig a way for them to make weight.

Lean on the towel when you can't make weight. That's farcical.

How on Earth do you puke exactly 1.2 lbs in under 2 minutes? It would SURELY take longer than 2 mins and they'd need a kitchen scales to puke into to weigh it.

Also, why was Rumble sweating like a pig when he weighed in? If he was 203.8lbs why was he dripping sweat? These are professional athletes they don't cut an extra 1.2lbs if there's no need to do that.

    The whole thing screams shenanigans.

The whole thing is a complete farce and tbh it doesn't deserve to be a mainstream sport when shenanigans like this still go on.

I don't believe it myself, I was sick last week and lost a lot of weight, but I was not preparing for a fight, I would imagine he had nothing in his stomach at this point as well.

No one is letting this go anyway. Very sneaky.

Yes, because all other sports are legit and nothing dodge ever happens in them..

Having rewatched it he definitely pushed down the towel. It couldn't be clearer.

At the ceremonial weigh he in he said Rogan that he's going to win this and then move on with his career. I might be reading too much into it but maybe he plans to vacate and move to Heavyweight? Cain is basically done by the looks of it so that's no longer an issue. He's had 2 very bad weight cuts in his last two fights now.
