    Hey Hellrazer,
What company is giving you that deal if you don't mind me asking? Long time lurker here and I can't hold off anymore! I need a SWITCH!

I've a PS4 that might as well be a paper weight so looking to trade in!

Should have clarified things -- I do have a spare 32gb card lying around from my PI-Was going to use that for the switch. The shop is Playr1 gaming in Maynooth.
Think it breaks down as 185 for the Ps4,30 for the extra controller and about another 30 for the games I have for the ps4.So just about 250.So I stick 80 to it for the switch and another 50 for a game and Im sorted. They seem to work off CEX trade in prices but dont screw you on the other end.CEX will give me the same but are looking for 365 for a used switch or an unboxed one of questionable condition for 330.Saw one in a CEX that had scratches all over it for 330.Looked like it was dragged through a field.
At least with the local place Im getting new in the box for a similar trade in value.

Having read the last few pages of this thread Im sold.Picking one up on Friday .Ive a PS4 sitting here gathering dust so its being traded in against a switch--local shop is giving me 250 for the ps4,extra controller and games against a new switch so it seems like a good deal. The xbox one is my go to now that kodi is on it-I think the switch will compliment the xbox to be completely honest.

Any recommendations on what game I should pick up first as I can really only afford the console + one game for the minute??Is a 32gb card enough for a few weeks?

I got the switch for the kids (and myself) for Christmas, mostly for the local multiplayer action with the kids. We got 4 games, Odyssey, Mario Kart, Rabbids and Splatoon. All great games, but the one I'm playing the most is Odyssey. BOTW will be my next purchase on next pay day.

Although my opinion is one sided as I don't currently own BOTW, I'd recommend Odyssey, it's a great game.

I must admit Odyssey has me hoooked, I started with Zelda but once I started mario I couldnt put it down. Brilliantly fun game to play.

I'm enjoying Odyssey but I don't think it's as great as all the reviews made out. I've just gotten to the world with the colourful caterpillars now so maybe it improves further.

Two complaints I have though, controls can be a bit fiddly but I'm getting used to those (motion control) and the bosses are very easy.

The Onion Guy is my favourite so far :)

It's a great game, I'm taking my time going through it, getting extra moons as much as possible. I'm starting 9th kingdom I think with over 170 moons.

I do agree that the bosses are easy, think I defeated them all first time - they have predictable patterns and obvious weakpoints.

I would say it's going to be easy to get to the ending but very challenging to get all moons, I've came across a few very difficult to obtain ones already, some which I have abandoned trying to get for now.

I ended up getting ~500 moons before I packed in playing in the end. It was very enjoyable but still wouldn't rate it anywhere near BOTW.

I feel like I enjoyed Sunshine more than it although that was a long time ago.

Ah very handy! Managed to find a buyer for the PS4 today on Adverts so next step is sourcing a Switch bundle! Might have a look in CEX and see what they have!

Overcooked is going to end in divorce in my house :-/

That was not the case for me, somehow.

We played Fibbage the other night, I had planned on going to bed at 10, 2am and we were all still up and playing that along with the other games in the Jack Box set, so much laughter.
So many filthy minded people in my family, so glad I am not the only one :D

They will charge close to what you can get in shop tbh.

And after the ridiculous prices they used to charge for the NES mini after it sold out earlier last year, I’d be reluctant to support them...

Imagine this will be announced properly at the direct next week.

Will be interesting to see if the exposure the switch got during the xmas period is going to lead to it selling gangbusters this year.

Apparently that bundle above is a Russian exclusive. Similar to a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle that only released in Russia earlier during the year.

    That would be a bummer.

Should be Odyssey & MK8 but I guess they have to get copies of ARMS out there someway. :/

Pairing two multiplayer games vs one multiplayer and one single player game (aware SMO has a 2p component) is better I think

Thanks for the heads up. Dipping my toe in the world of Nintendo for the first time in years so pretty out of the loop. I'll stick to one of the traditional places!

Hoping to pick up one today with BOTW and Doom.

Some turnaround after the Wii U. Great numbers considering it was supply constrained for a few months in the US too.

Nintendo pretty much nailed everything they set out to do last year.

    EDGE Top Ten for 2017

    10. Divinity: Original Sin II
    9. Polybius
    8. Yakuza 0
    7. Nioh
    6. Nex Machina
    5. ARMS
    4. PUBG
    3. What Remains of Edith Finch
    2. Super Mario Odyssey
    1. Zelda: BOTW

Nintendo overall did very well in their awards, winning in multiple categories.

Finally arrived after quite a bit of hassle, mainly Amazon double charging me, have a few more games on the way as well.

^^^^ Enjoy, with those 2 games alone there's dozens upon dozens of hours of enjoyment. Both remarkable games.

I would recommend playing Odyssey and then the other games arriving first, BoTW is a damn easy game to lose days/weeks/months in!!

SMO is at least playable in single player. Unless you buy 2 more joycons or a pro controller I imagine ARMS multiplayer is quite a poor experience.

I have Odyssey and BOTW as well. Started with Odyssey which I think is a good idea. Going to try and finish it with probably about 250 moons at the rate I'm going. I'll go back and re-play the levels more in order to get more moons. Then I'll probably move onto BOTW while dipping back into Mario every now and then to collect more moons. Would love to get all moons but that might be a challenge! :-)

I thought I'd barely played Mario before hitting the end of the main game but my Switch timer states I've spent near 30 hour in the thing (that said, was constantly going back to old kingdoms before moving on). Initially found it a bit fiddly, with Mario's weight giving less resistance on movement that I'd be accustomed to until that point, but got the knack of it in short order and am a big fan of how much it rewards your poking around.

The Mrs and I plowed through Overcooked too. The final boss of the main game was a tricky bastard and it commits the cardinal sin of having an unskippable cut-scene on restart (the same staple that annihilated my affection for Castle of Illusion HD), but ended up having a lot of love for the thing.

Shows how far they have come following the mistakes they made with the Wii U.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,431 ✭✭✭MilesMorales1

I think it’s fake also. Specially since I’d be surprised if virtual console launched like that.

Is the idea of wii games on switch fanciful? I'd love Zack & Wiki on the Switch, think it'd be an ideal platform for it. Even better, they could do a sequel (though this is probably also fanciful since the first one wasn't a commercial success).

Still, I got to use "fanciful" in a post a few times, so not all bad.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.
