Due to family stuff happening the wife allowed us to swap presents on Christmas Eve rather than Christmas morning. Only had time to update it and play an hour of SMO since then. Thankfully I should have much more time over the next few days, really looking forward to playing the living sh*t out of it! :-)

That hour of SMO was great and I also have Zelda!

Nintendo Co. told outside game developers it is delaying delivery of 64-gigabyte game cards for the Switch console until 2019, people familiar with the matter said, meaning gamers may have to wait longer for some data-rich software titles.

Nintendo had planned to make 64-gigabyte cards available to partner developers in the second half of 2018, but recently told them that it would push the date back to 2019 owing to technical issues, according to people with direct knowledge of the discussions.

They said the notice disappointed some software makers, especially U.S.-based publishers that often produce data-heavy games. Those publishers may wait for the 64-gigabyte card to release those kinds of games for the Switch.

Weird that publishers care about 64gb cart delays. They're trying their best not to use 32gb carts at the minute.

I've joined the Switch revolution :) so much fun!

Two questions for you good people:

    1) Which is the better local co-op game to play with the wife, Overcooked or Snipperclips? Whichever is less challenging might be best! Any other fun and reasonably casual local co-op games available?

    2) I want to buy SteamWorld Dig 2 (loved the first one, played on PC) on the e-shop. If I decide to buy in a different region, do I need to set up a new Nintendo account, or can I just use a VPN etc... to fool the geo-location?

I would say overcooked is waaaaaay bigger crack. I own it now on ps4 and switch. It really forces you in to communication all the time and thinking outside of the box. It makes you make decisions on the fly. Roaring is pretty much simulated perfectly on real life restairant kitchen, trust me, I cook for living. :)
Snipperclippers is cute game, but it all boils down to figuring out what to do and doing it. Thats it. No crack at all.

I do have both and overcooked is the one I always go for when I have someone to play with.

Started BotW this morning...loving it so far I must admit. It seems to have incredible scope, and be so so well put together.

Annoys me how the (docked) Switch turns on if you plug out the dock though...seems a bizarre approach

You don't need to do any messing with vpn or anything. Just set up a new account with the desired region specified. Can use your normal card. There's nothing to it.

Not if it's the US, as they look for a zip code, and seems to fail with non-US cards. For the US, better to buy credit on play-asia or the likes, and just use that on the US account.

Mexico doesn't seem to be usable outside of Mexico either for some reason.

It's really for being able to take Switch portable instantly out of the dock so it switches straight away. My dock is always plugged in but I could it being annoying if it's being plugged in and out.

Yeah, it's annoying but you learn to love with it very quickly. Electrically, plugging out the dock and undocking are the same. You would find it more annoying if it turned off every time you undocked it, and it would ruin the cool "play anywhere" feature. If you don't touch a button for a few seconds it powers off.

Re:Snipperclips - 2 adults playing together is rubbish. Watching 2 kids play is hilarious, it's like the Cuban Missle Crisis watching them approach eachother, knowing that neither one can trust the other to not snip eachother to shreds instead of taking measured, controlled chunks off eachother.

Has anyone a link explaining how I can change my country to South Africa to get digital downloads cheaper? Are there any drawbacks of doing that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,393 ✭✭✭Grassey

Log into myNintendo, under profile change location to SA. Go to store on switch, enter your account password, buy games, (optional: change back to next country of your choice in same region).

No drawbacks bar messing up Sligeachs global/regional sales figures

So I got a switch at Christmas and am loving it but the right joy con stick is making a very squeaky noise when using it. I didnt notice it until i was in bed and it was quiet but this sort of thing bugs me, the left stick is fine. Has anyone expierence this before, what are nintendo like to deal iwth? Not looking to send back to amazon as I would lose my save game and screen guard.

I can't comment on dealing with Nintendo, but they do have a good reputation for customer support.

As for the squeaking... are you sure it isn't your thumb? :p Anyway, in my experience squeaky joysticks are because of springs that are a little too tight. They usually loosen with usage and it goes away on it's own.

So if I add another user to the switch with its own nintendo account specifically for region hopping will the games I buy automatically be owned on my main account ?

I've just reached the first motion control shrine in zelda and it's doing my head in :o

As far as I know the game will only be owned buy the account you used to purchase from the eshop but once installed on the switch the other account will be able to use it.

Flip it before the ball lands. :)

Just rotate the maze so the ball lands in the middle. There'll be a wall either side then letting you guide the ball in a straight line over to the other side. I found that way far easier than flipping it.

I've been messing about with NicoNico on the Japanese store. It is a youtube type app in japan. I'm watching a live stream on my switch of south park fractured but whole playing on xbox1.

You can also have it play your own videos if you upload them to your account.

It isn't too difficult to figure out. Registering for a free guest account takes a few clicks. Handy tip is to use google translate's camera option on your phone. Point it at the switch and it will show you the English text.

I've been back playing Mario, got a nice bit done last night, brilliant game and challenging enough if you want to go off the beaten path a little.

The best thing is according to many it's not even the best game on the Switch! And I have Zelda sitting, sealed in my games drawer!

I love the portability of the machine and even though it's not the most powerful console it has great build quality and a sleek, simple interface.

Although the standard kickstand is rather flimsy.

Functionally, I like the Switch's UI, although I prefer the more detailed aesthetics of the Wii U, despite its slow UI, which sucked. It treated the eShop and friend list etc. as separate applications which require closing any running game.

With the Switch, I got an @Play starter kit, containing a case, earbuds and 2 screen protectors. I've gotten bubbles following application of the screen protector. Maybe I'll remove it and go with an Orzly if dirt removal and reapplication doesn't work (not that I have reapplied it yet).

Orzly screen protectors are quality, couldn't recommend enough.

Quite possibly the wrong thread for this but I'll put it here for now. Probably needs to go in some sort of consumer rights forum if there was one.

I got a Switch as a Christmas present. Was running fine until yesterday until error code 2107- 0445 popped up in screen. Now every time I reboot the console it stays on for 30 seconds before crashing again. Should I contact Nintendo directly for a replacement unit or go to the retailer it was bought from? It was bought in November afaik so returns policies don't stretch back that far. But it was a Christmas present etc.

If anyone could help that would be great.

I know they are quality. I'll look into them sometime.

The Switch is a damn great console, such an innovative piece of hardware.

You bought it in the EU and it's an easily reproducable error. Contact support via phone or online chat, verify they want you return it for a fix, then go to return it to the shop. They have an obligation.
