Stardew is everything I wanted in a game!
I am glad I got this on the Switch and not the Xbox.
Was up until 4am the last 2 nights playing it

    Email sent to head office

Don’t bother with emails, the only option will be a registered letter. This begins your paper trail, and will be step 1of the small claims court case should you require it.
I really didn't want to go to the Small Claims Court but I feel like they're not giving me any other option.

Send a registered letter, give 7-10 days for a reply, and if there’s none, get the ball rolling on the scc. They have no case at all, and after your refund is ordered, go buy a replacement in Argos.

Folks, I have been buying games in the eshop with my credit card and debit card but this morning it's constantly asking for the same information on the cards and not letting the purchase proceed. "please verify the information '

Anyone else get this? Is it just a store problem?

I'm buying from SA which I have set ups as my location from the start and I've bought about ten games here

Anyone having problems with the Eshop today?

Cheers for the replies lads. The reg letter was sent the other day, but I sent an email at the same time. Another feck off response.

    Quick question guys.

I seem to have developed an issue with two different left joy cons. One has the shoulder "L" button stuck and the other has a weird issue where the stick seems to wander even when not touched.

Presume both could be sent back to Nintendo to be fixed? It's a pita that it's both left ones and I've only two sets of joy cons so not sure if I'll send both together.

    Anyone seen anything similar?

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting this. I’ve never played it but I’m trying to stick to my finish the game I’m playing now rule before buying another one.

Yeah I dumped that rule a long time ago lol
It is a lot like Harvest Moon, I remember playing something very similar to this on the PSP a few years ago but with better graphics but this is still a lot of fun
The fishing part is not easy, gets me frustrated a few times

Sorry to be a pest but has anyone purchased on the Eshop today or had problems?

Spoke to the bank and they said no charges were even tested on my cards so I am hoping it's a Nintendo eshop problem?

    Thanks.

I bought The Escapists a few hours ago with no problems. I used Paypal.

I bought Golf Story last night with no issue if that helps. Wonder is it something to do with payment type on the SA store?

    Cheers lads.

I can buy with PayPal but none of my cards including revolut, are being accepted.

Tried an Irish account and South African and neither took payment off any of the cards.
    Weird

I'd definitely take them to small claims if thats their attitude. Its up to them to deal with the problem, not Nintendo.

I bought my Switch about a month before Christmas and during the transaction the guy at the counter handed me a form which basically says if anything goes wrong with the Switch that I have to deal with Nintendo and not Smyths. I bought it there and then and nothing has gone wrong so far but it really is a very poor practice by Smyths.

They are talking through their hat, your statutory rights here mean you have a years warranty with the seller, any other warranty arrangement doesn't affect this.

Whatever paper they give you isn't worth what its written on. Argos does the same thing, and its complete rubbish, just trying to avoid dealing with problems.

I had a similar problem with argos regarding a tv before Christmas.

They wanted me to get Sony to send them paperwork saying it was faulty before they would repair/refund. Sony refused.

Rang Argos customer care while in the shop and they set the girl behind the counter straight. Got my refund from a very angry and embarrassed worker who in fairness was only doing what her manager told her to. Manager wouldn't come out at all.

I dont think it’s strictly a year even at that, goods must be fit for purpose and of merchantable quality. I’d expect a brand new Nintendo console worth over three hundred quid to last a fair bit longer than a year, and so would a small claims court judge too I feel.

But, at the very least, a vendor has a responsibility to the customer to receive and refund/repair/replace faulty goods they sell.
All they are trying to do is cut out themeselves as a "middleman" and have the customer deal directly with the manufacturer.
It would then mean that the vendor can save money on all of the logistics around receiving and recording faulty goods, as well as providing the refunds and recouping from the same manufacturer too. A whole process stream is being cut out and the vendor is making serious savings over the business year, by simply offloading it all onto the end user.
This may be a lowest common denominator behaviour across the EU, but in this territory the vendor is obligated to adhere to out statutory protections.

I just thought of something. To the person having the issue with Smyth's did you pay for the console by card? If so, you could always just do a chargeback by getting in those with your bank via their card services number. You could send them the emails you sent Smyth's, saying that they are not taking your statutory rights into account.

    I've done it before successfully.

All of the above, but why the hard limit of twelve months? Smyths would more than likely be culpable for considerably more than 12 months for something like a brand new Switch, according to our statutory rights here in Ireland.

In regards to dealing with shops.

I bought a fridge freezer this month in currys. They were pushing the extended warranty for the fridge that will cover me for up to 3 more years ot something.

I started laughing in his face saying I am covered under the sales and supply of goods act 1980 anyway for up to 6 years if the fridge bracks.

HE replied with that is all fake anyway and you never win on that. I replied with I have bought another retailer to court and won and got a court-ordered refund.

He then replied with make sure you give me a perfect 10 on the survey that you will get after for my service so I can get my bonus.

Not silly at all. They do sales in the eshop most of the time but it's not on the AAA titles

It's really just the Nintendo franchise games that don't go on sale (ie Mario, Zelda) which has been the case for every console, until that console gets a budget/platinum/players choice range. AAA games have gone on sale regularly, like Mario/Rabbids, WWE 2K18 [AAA game, not AAA quality], and many more. Some Nintendo stuff like 1/2 Switch has gone on sale.

Will be interesting to see if there's any further news this week. A few murmurs online of something being announced this week, not necessarily in a Direct. Some rumours point to some accessories and hardware being discussed. That vague rumour about a Switch in a game store in the US getting an update on the 22nd which was supposedly communicated by a Nintendo employee.
