Playing through Kid Icarus again today and it's still a very underrated gem imo. I know the controls were a bit polarising but the gameplay and set pieces are absolutely fantastic. Personally I'd love to see a port/reimagining of it on Switch, I really hope Nintendo haven't forgotten the character too much. Only thing about it though is I can't see Sakurai being in charge again such is his preferences for doing that.

Trophies are not something I'm interested in, never bothered with them on Xbox or PS4 and I won't be starting with Switch. I play a game because I enjoy it, not because I get a virtual high five for doing something.

I don't see the point of Netflix on the Switch either, if I'm traveling I have my phone, if I'm in a hotel I can use my tablet/Chromecast, if I'm at home I can use the built in app on my TVs.

Don't overload a very good gaming device adding extra items that probably won't be used enough.

Like you said its not something you do, but it is very popular the trophy system that is

In terms games with tantalising love stories between a boy and his pet frog incorporating metroidvania elements, Blaster Master Zero does it the best.

Stardew Valley is so addictive in handheld. Started a new save Saturday & already into Autumn. I don't like the dungeon crawling too much. Died on the 18th floor & now I have to restart the mine from the 1st floor, only doing it to upgrade my tools.
    sigh
Have around 35k made so it's not a deal breaker but after watering plants I'm exhausted, probably should use the sauna more.

I've been hooked on SDV again since buying it at the weekend too. Just got into Winter. I'd played it on PC a few years ago, but the handiness of being able to lay on the sofa playing is great.

Can't you take the elevator down the mines to the 15th floor? I think it "saves" your progress every 5 levels. I've been scoffing fried eggs on any mining expeditions to keep tiredness or injuries at bay :D

    Is SDV like Harvest Moon?
Thats what I get from the picture but havent seen any videos or anything.
I love Harvest Moon and have been thinking of getting this

Although Im out of touch with HM in recent years, Its like a more modern/sorted version of HM.

I bought SDV a while back and didnt think I would get into it all as I have it on the PS4 and never bother with it but on the SWITCH, its a more enjoyable game for me as I can just kick back on the couch, train, etc. and play away.

Well worth the price in fairness.

I was a fan of Harvest Moon on the SNES and much prefer Stardew Valley.

It's similar in a lot of ways but there's much more to build/do. It also has a bit more of an RPG element to it if you wanted to do missions for towns people or venture into the mines scavenging and fighting weird creatures, but there's more than enough to keep you busy on your farm if that's not your thing.

Agree that it's well worth the money.

I think it resets if you die. I'm back down to floor ten but doubt I'll ever reach floor 40. Bought a new sword next door to the mine which helped.

Yes it's the natural progression the series never really made tbh. Has a basic farming sim with crops & animals, marriage & you restore the old community hall by working on the farm, fishing & working in the mine. Fishing is terrible though, I swear it was easier before it's just so finicky.
It's going to have co-op & all this year.

It doesn't reset, you "forget" 10-20 levels iirc. Normally if I die I'll just restart the day.

Leave the mines until Winter imo, you've feck all to do on the farm so have more time

Fishing is sound once you get the hang of it, just a steep learning curve

Not presently. Virtual Console has not been launched yet for Switch. When it is, many legacy titles (such as Pikmin) will become available to buy digitally. No announcement yet but at a guess I'd say Virtual Console will launch sometime later on this year.

I'm sure some of you are sick of me posting this but I'd like to relay my nightmare dealing with Smyths. I'm getting the run around around from them now. Email sent to head office and reply saying they'll only accept returns for faulty software for up to 30 days after purchases otherwise I have to contact Nintendo. It is their policy and they cannot assist further apparently. First of all its faulty hardware not software, second they're denying the consumer his or her rights. It's a faulty item and the duty is on them to do something about it. Making this as hard as possible for me to do anything.

I really didn't want to go to the Small Claims Court but I feel like they're not giving me any other option.

I'd bring them through it. My brother had to return a PS4, known over heating issue, he got a refund in store. This lark really annoys me.

I'd definitely take them to small claims if thats their attitude. Its up to them to deal with the problem, not Nintendo.

Hi, its very simple for them to deal with this and I'm not sure why they think it's ok to make this difficult on you. They are flaunting your rights in your face.

It sounds like you are being pushed around too.

Get a copy of the consumer rights an go on their twitter and Facebook and ask them why they refuse to acknowledge Irish law in relation to consumer rights?

The contract you have is with Smyths, not Nintendo. Their contract is with their supplier / nintendo. They will easily get a replacement for an item under warranty.

Smyths are ignoring your consumer rights and the fact that they have a contract with you and sold you goods that should be fit for purpose, which they are not.

I'd also go to Smyths in the UK and through their social media and let them know that you have got legal advice which you intend pursuing and you will want a written response from them as to why they are ignoring their obligation to deal with you despite having a direct contract with you and despite the law being very clear?

Best of luck with it too.

Nintendo would probably be easier to deal with as they are very familiar with European law after being fined significantly in the past for anti competitive practices and are more in tune these days.

Have a look at the 24 month warranty and protection you have.

    https://www.nintendoservicecentre.co.uk/warranty/11

Also, I would pay particular attention to the following and refer Smyths to same in addition to your consumer rights here.

    Directly from Nintendo.

My apologies for the lengthy post and also, apologies if this advice has been already posted to you.

    SELLER'S LEGAL WARRANTY

This additional commercial warranty does not affect the rights you may legally have as a buyer of consumer goods. In case of lack of conformity with the contract, the seller is legally responsible, and the consumer and user has the right to repair the Product, its replacement, the price reduction or the termination of the contract, in accordance with the provisions of Title V of the General Law for the Defense of Consumers and Users. These legal rights are independent and compatible with this Nintendo commercial warranty.

    ADDITIONAL RIGHTS TO THE LEGAL

    a) The Product is guaranteed directly to the final consumer, regardless of the point of sale, with a faster repair and without displacements:

This commercial guarantee allows consumers and users to contact Nintendo directly, without traveling or intermediaries, instead of going to the store where the Product was purchased by their own means and at their own expense. For the repair of the Product in question, Nintendo sends a courier company to pick up the Product at the address of the consumer and, if it is covered by this commercial warranty, repairs the Product in a period of approximately 15 to 20 days (except for exceptional situations produced for lack of stock of spare parts), returning the product in hand again by courier. This additional right enjoyed by the consumer, and with full cost to Nintendo , prevents the consumer uncomfortable transfers and waiting times.

    b) The consumer is exempted from the need to prove that the non-conformity existed at the time of purchase: This Nintendo commercial warranty exempts the consumer from the need to demonstrate that the non-conformity already existed at the time of purchase as it is the Nintendo Technical Assistance Service itself that is responsible for reviewing the defective Product and determining the origin of the damage or defect, repairing free of charge in the event that our technicians determine that it is a material or manufacturing defect in the Product. .

Ask them to put it in writing, on headed paper and signed. That they are refusing to refund, replace or repair a faulty device as per consumer rights.

I've switched! Got the Switch and Odyssey deal at Argos.

I'll probably post the odd stupid question on here from time to time. My first Nintendo since SNES.
