Yupp got my tickets when they first came out, good discount on them. Heading up with some friends, sounds like it will be a laugh. Tempted to sign up for the rocket league tournament, still deciding. No interest in the youtubers but looking forward to the dev talks.

Seems like a big Youtube fest. Not sure I'd get much out of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,452 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Like Zero-Cool, i booked early and got the tickets at 40% off. Looking forward to it. Don't know what to expect, other than i'm bringing enough money this time for whatever deal GameStop have as they had an amazing Xbox One deal at the one in Kerry last year (€350 for a 1Tb Xbox One with 4 recent games and a second controller).

I thought it was going to be more like a LAN party with other interesting events... but turns out it all spins around youtubers...

Anyone have any promotional codes for this?

Yeah, going with some mates on the Saturday. Looks like its going to be fun. Im not interested in the youtuber side of it at all as even though I do watch a lot of youtubers the lineup seems to be made like it was for a 10 year old who hasnt discovered any games better than COD and Minecraft. Sure im looking forward to it anyway we'll see :)

Was going to sign up for the rocket league tournament with said friends but it says in the rules that its steam/pc only??? Do they not know that you can play rocket league on ps4 with your mates on PC?
    It goes something like
"In order to compete, you must own a copy of Rocket League on steam".
    Bit ridiculous I feel.

Hah. I'm going because I'm bringing a 10 year old who plays nothing but Minecraft

Bring sanitizer gel. Do not lick your fingers after eating that bag of crisps.

Going with the young lad as well. If nothing else its a day out. Got tickets as a present so no harm done.

I don't think there will be devs or indie stalls there at all

I definitely saw somewhere there will be talks from Indie devs on how to make games. EA, Sony & Microsoft will be there but I doubt we'll be getting any groundbreaking exclusives.

Still, I'm interested in the below:

"Including talks from leading games development companies demonstrating what it takes to conceive, develop and launch games."

    Pretty much "determination" :)

Quite looking forward to this for reasons i can't explain, because it looks, as rightly pointed out, like a youtube fest.

Im heading to this on Saturday before the match. Missus got us both tickets last week when she heard about it. 15 quid so can't go wrong. Will jump on the DART and if it's sh*t will just head to the pub early to watch the game.

Naturally, I'll be wearing an Ireland jersey and absolutely going to be hogging the VR section. See any of you there!

Got an email from Gamercon about booking a spot to try out PSVR. Will be well handy not queuing up for it, finally gonna get to try some VR.

Got my spot booked too. I'm heavily skeptical about the potential of VR in gaming so I might change my mind after this.

Ah, i got no email about booking a VR slot, where does one find the link if it's possible?

    Link brought you to here

    http://trypsvr.com/en-ie?mc_cid=771cb68935&mc_eid=1e55ba3c69

Reading the comments on their FB, looks like all slots were booked up last night. I'm sure they have other VR stands there but I'd say there will be big queues.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,452 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

    Bollocks...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,074 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

    From Gamercon FB post:

"At 7pm this evening we will release a limited number of additional slots for the PlayStation VR demo's at GamerCon. Click on the link provided in the email we sent to all Ticket Holders yesterday to book. Also - we will have a limited capacity for walk-ups on the day if you are unsuccessful in booking a slot. Note: PSVR Demo's suitable for ages 12+"

    Worst queue simulator ever.

What is going on? It's ridiculous. Hasn't moved in half an hour

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,452 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

This is a disgrace. 45 minutes queuing and now it's filtering through that it's full, and we still in the queue... 😡😡

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 15,248 Mod ✭✭✭✭FutureGuy

Got a very bad vibe about the ticket allocation in recent weeks and decided against it.

The queues look to be absolutely shambolic altogether.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,452 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

We've moved 10 feet since the last post. Still about 200 in front of me and hundreds more behind. Apparently it's full in there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,049 ✭✭✭Glebee

Disaster. Could not organise a piss up in a brewery. Just saw the roller signs and sold too many tickets. How can you sell more tickets than the venue will hold.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,757 ✭✭✭✭Mr. CooL ICE

On Twitter there are apparently people queuing since 10 and still not in yet. Also security recommending people to just leave.

    Anybody staying or leaving?

The way it was being advertised on FB I am surprised they were overbooked , it looked like they were desperate for people at one point.

Just arrived in the IFSC now. Is it actually full even with tickets?

Edit: just reading their Facebook page. Heading home.

My brother is inside and when I last spoke to him described it as a cattle market its so full.

I can't believe how badly it's been handled. The Facebook comments say it all really. Feel so sorry for anyone queueing with young kids who were excited. Reckon Joe Duffy will be fielding lots of calls from irate mammies on Monday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,812 ✭✭✭IRL_Sinister

Yep. I didn't even walk up. When I was driving in I saw the queues from Samuel Beckett Bridge, parked up in the work underground and went to this thread and Facebook. Just sitting in Insomnia now and gonna jump back in the car. Feel sorry for families. Appalling.

I got there at half 10 and was nearly at the door at 12. By half 12 security was saying they weren't letting in anymore because it was full and management were not coming out despite calling them repeatedly. Absolute joke. Oversold and tickets are still available to buy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,452 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Was going to leave but I brought my 16 year old niece up for the cosplay. In the door 5 minutes ago only to be told we're too late for registration even though it says half 1. Absolute joke.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,869 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

See they have now deleted their post showing the queue due to the amount of people complaining in the comments. Not surprised its oversold either. 12,000 tickets per day were allocated for GamerCon, Dublin Comic Con allocated 8,000(iirc) per day for the same venue and is still packed to the gills.

The gamercon hashtag on twitter makes some reading. 95% of is it people complaining they can't get in!

Yeah, looking at it now. Plus its the no. 1 hashtag trending for Ireland atm, ridiculous.

Laaaaaads disaster up here. Eventually got in in time for my PS VR booked slot which was amazing but everyone around me if complaining, gonna be some amount of refunds chucked out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,869 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

Seems there will be a less than flattering article in the Sunday Times about this tomorrow.

Rubbish setup. Queued for two hours and didn't even get half way. Left to get pizza and beer instead. How do we go about requesting a refund now?

A lot of very unhappy kids in that queue... Not too mention the cosplayers.

Seems they've now added a new section to the Ts&Cs to try and cover their asses.
3.4 Please note that we are required to maintain a safe environment for our attendees at all times and as such are subject to the capacities of the venue and the rooms / halls therein. Access is therefore not guaranteed, should such capacities become a challenge or be in danger of being breached.
