WWI wasn't "nukular" and that war was brewing a long time. It was inevitable. One assassination in Sarajevo did not cause the world war.

well it was the catalyst/excuse for it...all historians say so

Obama and US salivating at the possibility to go to war with Russia before Trump gets in...

    Eh....no, sorry.

    Yeh it is.

You can argue that because of nukes this won't be the same but an assassination led to WWI

No doubt Syrians will pay a heavy price for this ,

Is this going to mark a decrease in world stability as was seen when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated?

Probably not. We've the EU now, M.A.D. (nukes), less competing Empires with more democracies, better access to critical media and so on and so on.

Might be that he was linked to Islamic state or just a lone nut.

Wow, Not a SINGLE word about this on TV3 news.

    What an embarrassment!

No, the WWI was not caused by an assassination, but you can say that it was just sparked by one. There was a much more complex chain of events before and following the assassination and there were mounting tensions between the parties. The today's event is nothing like that one, both in terms of context and motives.
    So chill, no WWIII yet.

Why would that be the case? It was a Turkish police officer that assassinated the ambassador.

It had to be a Muslim to do it, so predictable. They used to have inventive ways of killing the infidels.

Just saw the video. Shot from behind by what looks like his own guard, who walks around with a finger up roaring at everyone afterwords. Yikes.

Yeah, claims now it was a policeman

Not liking this. It sounds ominous.

The murderer apparently was part of the security detail for the Russian Ambassador.

    WTF.

Turkey. He was part of the security detail. It is only logical that Turkey will be blamed for this failure, or whatever it was.
