Who exactly is supposed to be posting over the odds for these tickets when the stadium is never more than half full?

They were for the opening ceremony which was full

In the grand scheme this is storm in a teacup stuff.
    A bit of ticket reselling?
Its hardy crime of the century.
Brazil's criminal investigations agencies would be better focused on matters closer to home.

The amount of people on here posting that they hope Hickey rots in jail is interesting considering he hasn't been convicted of anything yet.

This is true, but it is a symptom of what is probably a larger problem and I'm glad the process, (and Hickey, who has been the subject of a lot of accusations) is now going to be the subject of an investigation.

I'm not even watching the olympics anymore. The whole thing is a farce.

Are you a pal of Hickey's, why do you care?

I think most people have been less than impressed with Hickey. He refused to co-operate with Shane Ross when he went to speak with him about this. He also stuck his oar in when WADA recommended that Russia should get a blanket ban because their drug cheating was widespread and state sanctioned, Hickey goes out of his way and jumps in to defend Russia? And now this comical debacle where he tries to evade being arrested.

Corruption appears to be rife in the Olympics, drug cheating, refs cheating. Hickey probably thought he was untouchable.

What's your reasons for being an apologist for him?

I had a wee jig of joy at the news. No pussy footing around by the brazillian police. Hopefully now we will start getting some answers and not the usual protectionism.
I wonder will he now be seeking help from the Irish government....years after he boasted how he was bigger than any minister.

This is fantastic, I'd say Shane Ross is a happy man right now. Goes to Brazil to meet Hickey, gets told to f@ *k off and a couple of days later, the cops come knocking on his hotel room, to be told he's left the country, except he hasn't left, he's in another room, the cops find him, throw him in the slammer and do a perp walk with his passport and credentials. Brilliant stuff. It's also fascinating to look at the links between Hickey and Eastern Europe ggiven what's allegedly been happening with the boxing and the link between that and the European games in Azerbaijan, story in the Guardian a few weeks back if anyone cares to google it.

A lot of people involved in sports organisations in Ireland are only waiting to stick the knife into Hickey

Nice to see he had the wife and young lad over there...

Look at the pretty bad Olympics Ireland is having so far and then look at GBR and all the money invested into their athletes over the last 4 years and the results they have reaped from that.

I know we are a much smaller country but with the head of the Olympic committee of Ireland caught up in an alleged corruption scandal and very little or no funding for Irish athletes you can understand why we will have done so poorly...

They all need to be cleaned out for good and actually concentrate on funding the Irish athletes so they actually have a chance to become Olympic champions some day too...

    Does Brazil do perp walks?

There's a vid up to of when the police knocked at the door, he answered it in the nip.

Well they arrested & held that crook mortgage broker for awhile, & then they extradited him back here and ......... he got let out on bail

rte reporting that when the police went to Hickeys hotel room, they found only his wife, who said he had already left for Ireland. And then the bbc report that he passed his Olympic pass under the door, and then fled into an adjoining hotel room (his son's)
Sounds like an old episode of Fawlty Towers!

Its 20 years they have thrown money at it now, since they won only 1 medal(Redgrave/Pinsent) in Atlanta. Has to be a long term project which I'd love to see here

Ah at the time thank f**k for the posh sports or Ireland would have won nothing. :D

I think Pat Hickey will get away with this and find some one lower down the OCI food chain to blame.

I will take a fair guess that phrases like "Not aware of" and "had no knowledge of" will be used.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Have a bad Olympics so far.
Not sure if the sailors, rowers, divers or athletes would agree with you.
Maybe the boxers would agree with you , but was not some of that down to be bad decision ???

GBR have invested heavily in the dirtiest sports going - Cycling and Athletics

Oh and look at where all their medals are coming from..

Mo Farrah has had long standing relationships with three dirty doping coaches.

Golf, tennis, equestrian, swimming, sailing, gymnastics...in fact GB are picking up medals all across the sports spectrum.

I appreciate that there are questions about Mo Farah's associations, but you're not seriously suggesting that there is some state sponsored programme to succeed at "dirty" sports?

He has been formally charged with ticket-touting, forming a cartel and illicit marketing. Max prison sentence if found guilty is 7 years.
