Compared to when they announced phase 3 it's a major step down in hype.

Thor and Blade would be the only ones I'm really interested to see and for blade it's more how do they work his world into this.

Nothing on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 or Spiderman 3?

Fantastic 4 could be good as well to see what they can actually do with them in the MCU

    Vampires in the MCU? Lovely.

No Disney logo attached to it and given who they cast, it must be a film which is great. Wow...Feige knows how to up the ante.

Think it's sort of unfair to compare it to the phase 3 annoncement when in a way they are kind of starting out again with 3 films alone with brand new characters , so after losing Cap Ironman and others this is essentially a rebuild

So Dr Strange is going to open the Multiverse.

I'm guessing this is where the bring in the X-Men etc.

Wouldn't bank yet on them using a multiverse angle to bring them in. They've already faked people out with it once and with that movie apparently being a horror and having Wanda in it there could be other routes they go.

Maybe but they still have Guardians, Spiderman, Xmen, fantastic 4, Deadpool etc.

I don't mind them giving spotlight on new characters it's just I would have thought there'd be another big name in there with Thor.

I presume this is only a partial announcement for phase 4 so we'll see how it goes in the future.

I'm sure they will also mostly turn out to be good films, I'm just commenting on the lack of wow factor for this.

So Fury in Space is he going to bump into the Eternals?

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,446 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Really love all the announcements made by Marvel. Enough there to keep me interested in how things go. Natalie Portman coming back as Mighty Thor will definitely be interesting, and so long as Taika Waititi and Hemsworth are in, I'm in.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is one hell of a title and makes me excited for that too, especially with Scarlet Witch in it too and it linking to the WandaVision show. The first Doctor Strange was a bit bland but this could be really interesting.

Blade?! F*ck yeah. Great casting too.

Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2 were to be expected. Interesting to see them on the long finger though. No word on a third Ant-Man movie, which is a shame as I really enjoyed the second one.

The shows could be great. Looking forward to WandaVision the most as I loved Wanda and Vision's relationship so far in the movies. They're both fantastic with the characters.

Yeah, really a lot to look forward to there. Eternals will be interesting. Not familiar with a lot of the cast and know nothing about any of the characters, so it'll be the first Marvel movie I'm going in almost completely blind to.

Plus this is only the next 2 years so that's 10 properties in ten years, I'm very excited to see how these shows will pan out , Reckon Eternals could be massive

Putting a few things together.. there might be the makings of an Origin for Dr. Doom in the pipeline here.

personally, I am hoping Dr. Doom is also the first of the new Fox arrivals to the MCU, he's definitely my favourite Marvel character..... as a sorcerer.... he could enter via Doctor Strange's shenanigans...

Noah Hawley has stated he's in discussions for a film about him, Feige's refusal to say anything about how the FF are being introduced, the horror nature of the new Doctor Strange (who famously goes to fight demons with Doom)... I wouldn't even a little bit say its conclusive, but as someone who has, obviously, quite a soft spot for aul cousin Vic, so I'm always living in hope, it makes sense and is getting increasingly likely Doom will have an important part to play.

I would love for Doom to show up as something of a wild card figure, you're never sure if he's gonna help or hinder the heroes. Much like Loki, but far scarier if he's in a bad mood. I'd also love for him to get a sympathetic side through working with Strange to save his mammy.

Given his history as the ruler of Latvaria, he'd be a great counterpoint to Black Panther; both fairly insular countries but with much different outlooks and priorities. As Doctor Doom says (wait, that's confusing; as Boards user Doctor Doom says) the character works as a wild card & for his own interests only - same goes for the country. Sometimes ally, sometimes antagonist. Might make for less disposable villains if they're human soldiers

Has Hawley come out recently about the Doom film because I remember that being talked about years ago.

I was listening to a podcast recently that Peyton Reed could bring FF into the MCU as he had an idea for an FF movie years ago which was shelved. They also noted that an Ant-Man 3 hasn't been announced and of all the announced projects, FF might be the one he'd fit into best tonally and narratively.

If theres an extra sorcerer in Strange 2 I'm more inclined to think it'd be Magik. She was at one point thought by Strange and he helped expand her powers a bit. (Leading to a glimpse of future Yana as the Sorcerer Supreme herself). Could run as a mirror to Ancient One/Strange.

Natalie Portman quote: "I want [female characters] to be allowed to be weak and strong and happy and sad – human, basically. The fallacy in Hollywood is that if you’re making a ‘feminist’ story, the woman kicks ass and wins. That’s not feminist, that’s macho. A movie about a weak, vulnerable woman can be feminist if it shows a real person that we can empathize with."

I dunno if brandishing a war hammer counts as feminist then.

Without being smart, you clearly have no idea what the story behind the female Thor is if you think that. Strength from vulnerability is the entire point.

If they're adapting the Jane Foster run of Thor from the comics, in it Foster has terminal cancer, the hammer turning her into a super being when she wields it.

I'd say there's plenty of scope in what she's saying, via that lens of Foster being vulnerable via sickness and learning to cope. Would also be a potentially big, interesting gearshift in the MCUs character storytelling. Something a lot more tangible and relatable.

My bigger concern is that she brings a little more charisma to the role, she always came across so bored - I was never surprised she left. Wonder was it personnel now gone, or a truck full of money that convinced her to return. Or both!

Does she beat up bad guys with a hammer?

Beating up bad guys with a hammer is macho. If you have cancer while you do it that just makes it more macho.

Every time she uses the hammer, it eliminates the chemotherapy in her system, bringer her closer and closer to death.

I'm sorry but you're really onto a wrong one here.

It is an excellent, considered story, and very far from a mindless macho one.
