Since 2006 (and that was only as far as I went back). How many 100+ averages do you think there have been in the BDO world championships?

I went back through the stats, I'll admit I scanned over them pretty quickly so if I'm wrong tell me but I know I'm wont be wrong by very much!

    The answer is:
    Three in ten years.

And NONE in a BDO final

You're right, that's incredible really. Going all the way back to 1976 there has never been one in a final yet.

Gulliver and Hedman having a decent game here. I wonder how many times they have played over the years. Hedman seems to have been around since the dawn of time!

Standard of this womens darts is appalling. I'm up for Hedman, but she has bottled three finals, so I would put my money on Gulliver

Whatever about the standard, it more about the novelty of seeing it.

Looking forward to seeing wheelchair darts on TV, (yes that is a thing).

    Watching it now.

I can't believe these are the best women dart players in the world. Legs of 23 darts. I have seen better play in pubs.

There is no reason why women can't play darts as well as men.
Why is the standard so low?

Wanted to see Hedman win it but her finishing is appalling

Yeah she seems to choke in the final. It's a shame really, she deserves to win at least once!

Shocking stuff from Hedman, she doesn't have the head for it!!!

There's always been some babble about how the BDO boards wiring was thicker and that was mooted as a reason for the lower scoring, but I believe now there is little difference BDO Blade 4 and the PDC Unicorn Pro HD boards, so there's no real justification for the much poorer scoring being explained by anything other than just poorer players.

You can she how she is trying to stay calm but she's failing miserably right now. I guess that's her fatal flaw.

Feel sorry for Hedman but she had a complete meltdown

Yep. Hedman handed that to Gulliver.

She deserves to win it but I can't ever she her ever doing it now!

    Gulliver:
"Ladies darts is getting stronger and stronger and stronger"

    Seriously??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,045 ✭✭✭✭gramar

She lost her way and looked like she was going to break into tears every time a dart didn't find it's target and that was quite often.
Gulliver looked very determined and focussed.

Gulliver looks a scary when she's playing, like a female Kevin Painter.

I've aged about ten years watching that final. Thankfully it wasn't best of 13 sets !

Good start by Jeff Smith, he could easily do well over in the PDC, this match is gonna be quick

I have a few quid on Smith to win it out. He might too.

In fairness to them men in general do have superior hand eye coordination to women .

But don't they get standing closer?

No I'm fairly sure they throw at the same distance.

Veenstra is 34, I would have put him at ten years younger. Looks like a young Dirk Kuyt. :pac:

    Nice 132 out from Smith

This is such an enjoyable match so far. Could easily go to the final set.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,497 ✭✭✭Yester

It's going to be a close one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,500 ✭✭✭✭DEFTLEFTHAND

This is tense stuff. Hoping for a Smith victory.
