You covered it yourself. A current lack of Southampton and Everton is worrying. Some people are postulating that Rooney will probably drop back into the hole-midfield pulling Martial back over from the wing into a central striking role. If that were to happen I 'd be very happy to stick with him. Trying to guess which way LVG is going to go though is a bit like trying to guess which way one individual frog in a box of them will jump

Your defence could do with a change alright. If you changed Targett to Simpson from Leicester for 3.9 you could afford Westwood to Mane.

Problem with that is you're making life difficult for yourself when Aguero is back.
.1 short for that thinking Targett to Kompany or Martial to Bony it's tough this week.

Sorry, forgot the 4.1 is actually 4.0 as most people would have picked him up at that.

Darmian -> Bertrand. Made 0.1m on Darmian too.

Muniesa -> Van Djik with my 2nd FT in addition to the Mata -> Payet transfer I did earlier in the week.

First part of my medium-term defensive plan. Hopefully I'll have the other parts in over the next 2 gameweeks.

    Whats your defence now Paully?

At the moment it's Bellerin, van Dijk, Evans, O'Shea and Martin. That gives me LEI, BOU and swa this week.

West Brom go on a tough run from GW's 12-17 so I'm happy to go with just Myhill for that spell and hope to switch Evans to Moreno next week with my FT. That gives me TOT, CPL and SWA/SOU/sun for GW 12.

Then I'm hoping to shift Martin ahead of GW13 for another cheapie with semi-decent fixtures until GW17 when I'll double up on WBA again. Palace have taken my eye from GW13-17. That would leave me with the below:

    GW13: SUN, STO, wba/cpl
    GW14: NEW, STO, SWA/NOR
    GW15: SUN, AVL, new/eve
    GW16: WBA, WAT, SOU/avl

GW17 then I'll hopefully have Bellerin, Evans, O'Shea as mainstays while re-assessing everyone else. I certainly won't have a Palace defender from this stage onwards, while someone like Chelsea may have changed a lot by a couple of months time.

It's always risky when you're planning a transfer ahead for 2 weeks in a row I know especially for a defender, but I'm hoping I'll get lucky with injuries/suspensions and that my planning for the next 7 gameweeks will pay off. I really think anymore than about 8 weeks is extremely tough to plan for so find this might be the ideal sort of length.

Yaya is the obvious one in my opinion.

I bought Mata long ago at 8.6 and I still think he will keep his place barring injury. The first drop in price didn't bother me but even if he were to drop again I would not sell. I knew three GW's ago he was facing Arsenal, Everton then MAN CITY. I feel a Mata, who will be out to prove his essentialness, is quite essential to me. I already think he is carrying some extra deadweight on the team as is. I'm pretty sure he recognizes Man Utd provides a good future and will be out to make himself an integral part of Man Utd. We all know there is a budget to cover any gaps that appear and don't get repaired.

So the reason it's obvious for me is Mata and not really Yaya's fault. He is obviously not without his own merits but would you play KDB, Yaya's and Aguero long term? One could, and it has huge potentials but I currently have Kompany and KDB and am keeping Aguero's spot free till I bring him back.

You could perhaps consider ighalo/ayoze upfront, bank that Mahrez cash and keep Sanchez, Yaya's, Mata, KDB in midfield. I'm assuming you have Mahrez and Sanchez of course but a reasonable one I'm thinking. That would be 2 transfers but would strengthen your midfield enough collectively it would be easily be justified.

I was considering get vvd in for a hit this week (going with my principle that if it breaks even ir nearly does its effectively a ft) but realising that despite a couple of hammerings Bournmouth haven't failed to score since GW2 is putting me off somewhat.

My defence have awful fixtures, I'd probably be playing Moreno away to Chelsea and Bellerin away to Swansea using my AOA. Next best def probably Naughton vs Arsenal. Also have Martin (mci) and Souare (MUN and doubtful).

Chances of VVD breaking even over Moreno (or Naughton if I don't play AOA)? Worth rolling the -4 dice again?

I'd probably take the -4 hit, even if doesn't pay off this week, should do within next few weeks, they have some decent fixtures coming up

Mm. Might get it done with my ft next week tho.

Ah who am i kidding!! Will be a hit then too!! :)

With Valencia ruled out, I'll save the AOA and play Darmian, which means I'll be benching Mahrez this week.
I just know this will come back to bite me.

Bony all day for me.. (C) too

Bony for Martial had been forefront in my thoughts, but seemingly Iheanacho had a really good game in the league cup so paranoia is setting in...

That's what's clinching it for me. It's just not worth the risk when there's options that are arguably as good in the same price bracket: Pelle, Lukaku, Kane.

Also, according to the official site, Aguero could be back Nov 21st. That's only 3 GWs away. So you'd get Bony for 2 weeks before sweating that aguero might be back.

Tottenham are on good from and both Eriksen and Kane have great underlying stats.

I really want one or other but can't decide which.

Eriksen has been (contrary to his reputation as a streaky player) amazingly consistent with returns in 5 of the 7 games he has played. Very central to their attack with huge chances created and high goal involvement. But relies heavily on free kicks for his own goal threat.

Kane has good stats but had been struggling for goals (ar the right end at least) but potentially explosive and could score against anyone.

As above there are risks with Bony so I'm still tempted by a 2 week punt on Sterling who i think will be very attacking against Norwich and Villa.

    So.

    Eriksen and Bony.

    Or

    Sterling* and Kane???

    *Assuming confirmation in Sterling fitness.

I'd slightly favour Sterling & Kane even though I've been disappointed with Sterling's inconsistency in the past when I've owned him.

Yeah, I'd probably be switching him to Barkley or probably Payet after Villa.

Its on my mind that it's also possible Iheanacho would come off the bench for Sterling in some of these games.

Everyone seems to be dumping Martial but I'm going to hang on to him for a couple more weeks. For two reasons:

    1) United have a good fixtures coming up
    2) Rooney's on the verge of being dropped which would see him playing centrally

Saying that, if I had an FT to waste I probably would look at other options (Kane) there but my midfield and defence are pretty wonky at the moment so I've plenty to be getting on with.

I'm sorry but I totally disagree with reason #2.
Rooney will not be dropped, unless he gets injured. Even if many Utd fans believe he should be at this point.
He only missed 1 game against Liverpool due to injury and hasn't missed a single minute of Premier League football other than that.
Despite only scoring 2 league goals and being in poor form he is Utd's captain and I will be very surprised if he is dropped.

Having said that Martial might be back in the Number 9 role soon and that would be as good a reason to hold him.

After pretty much being set on bringing Moreno in all week, I'm now considering Phil Jones :pac:. Who wants to talk me out of it? I'm aware of all the injuries but I'd be ok risking that for those fixtures

    What about Smalling?
Good chance of an odd goal in him.

From an attacking point of view I don't hink utd have great fixtures in the next 4. 3 away games palace Leicester and Watford and a home game with wba. Two cl games sandwiched in between those 4. When they play Norwich and Bournemouth and if any of there attackers could show a bit of consistency then I may be interested and more importantly if there is a bit of consistency in lvgs selections. Their defenders on the other hand I'm very interested in.

You're right in all of that up til now but noises coming out of the club (taps nose) are that it's reaching the point where he can't keep starting regardless of form. I actually don't think it would do Rooney any harm to have a break or come off the bench in a few games, might help him get his mojo back.

I said good, not great :-P

Agree about CL but that's a concern for all the top clubs surely.

If u have martial I could see why you would hang on but if he is lw again this week you would have to sell. For those without martial it would be madness to buy him now. Mata is the one I'd want but I always have doubts about how much lvg rates him.

Too expensive, unfortunately. I already have Kolarov and Bellerin in the premium bracket

Yes agree - not recommending buying him especially while he's playing wide - just don't see immediate need to dump him. Though maybe that's just a reflection on how many other pressing needs I have...
