Magnet are down as being a re-seller on here:
    http://fibrerollout.ie/eircode-lookup/service-providers/

they resell Eir's eFibre service but not the FTTH.

Perhaps they will later on. When I check what's available with Magnet I only get offered ADSL.

Why is it all smoke and mirrors and lies with these guys?
Aside from eir, who is re-selling openeir FTTH?

When you say "hub", do you mean an Ethernet switch - and if so, is it a gigabit switch?

    Ah it's a gigabit hub.

I'm getting over 700 Mb wired now on most machines.

Just wondering do Eir provide a router for the FTTH ?? I have a router at home, but its pretty old.

well people getting FTTH of them might not think that way because the old eircom would never invest in rural Ireland.

Yes, I'm sure all 5 of them are delighted with it.

Not sure why this is low.
I wonder could it be the cabling ?
    I got Cat6 => patch panel => Cat6 => hub => router

This is pretty relevant to this thread at the moment!! http://www.thejournal.ie/three-meteor-data-3372715-May2017/

Not really. Thats Three complaining about wording of meteor's adds becuase its undermining their adds.
meteor at least they call out pretty clearly that its a 15gb download limit etc.

To save people some time - just spent 25 minutes on the phone trying to downgrade from 1Gb to 300Mb

To get to the people that I ended up talking to you go
    1901 Option 4 then Option 2

They couldn't do it there and then but put a note on my account and said to ring back on 11th to make sure it was done

Do Eir use the same fibre cable when stringing overhead to house or feeding through duct ?

Eir (who own meteor) are doing the exact same thing with FTTH by mentioning the word unlimited A LOT while others have asterisk etc. and say limited on their websites. At first glance for anyone trying to pick a provider, they would see eir as being the best to go with despite them having the same FUP.

They would just go to your neighbor house since the Eir code leave you to the exacted address. The best thing is to ring them and see if they will add you but you probably have to pay for the install.

They cannot add him...he is in The NBP...and that is set in stone..

Is there something in the contract between DCCAE and Eir that says they can't add more and deem them 'commercially viable'? What's stopping eir adding e.g. 20,000 homes that happen to be near splice boxes with spare ports to their rollout?

Congrats to all new 3 May connections

Eir cannot proceed with my FTTH order as my eir code is showing as in use with another eir customer account.

Took me 3 days to get that info from them.

Said they will come back to me .... :(

    We will see.....

This is what happens when someone borrows an eircode...But the top quote could be just the usual eircode having more than one premises on the same eircode..

Daragh..eir have a contract for 300,000...look up what a contract is..if premises were added to eirs rollout that are in the NBP then the Irish government could be sued by the EU for subidising a commercial company or something like that..brain is tired..

I saw a neighbour's installation where it went via duct and the cable looked the same as the one strung overhead to my house.

my install should be by duct just hope they can use it I'm 80 meter from the road don't know if they would do a overhead drop with that distance come Autumn.

Another pole may be required at 50m IIRC.

I've tried that, it's showing a perfect wifi signal and no problems!

what's happening on phones and tablets is it gets a full signal but just sometimes refuses to load information in most apps and has a spinning wheel loading icon for maybe 15 seconds, then loads everything. it's annoying and only seems to effect mobile devices, yet Facebook App loads all the time.

PS4, TV and Sky box are all connected on wifi to same 2.4g signal and work fine. I am not the only one who has this issue with the F2000.

Seeing some weirdness on my Smart Ultra 6.

Using my existing network setup I've just replaced the 4G/WFi TP Link router with the F2000.

I'm not using with F2000 wifi - I connect to one of two wifi routers which are then wired into the F2000 via a couple of hubs.

I'm seeing occasional but sizeable delays on page loads on, say, boards.ie even though the ping from my phone to the site is fine (<10 Ms)

Really is making it feel like a slower connection than with my previous setup.

Has anyone else found this? Should I be looking at changing DNS or something?

Same here, my speeds are all over the place and webpages on my phone take a good few seconds to start loading.

    Speeds im getting
    Wired pc gets 800,
    wired xbox 250,
    wi fi xbox 150,
ps4 wired 50 trough power socket network,
    Ps4 wifi 40.
    Phone 200 on 5g wifi.
Phone on Tplink link upstairs 10-20.

Going to reduce my pack to 300. No point having 1000 when most of the tech cant use it.

You say you have a couple of hubs in your network, they're going to slow things down for sure (are they really hubs or switches?).

Jebus Grumpy I was never so glad to see a post. I thought I was going soft in the head. The real feel of browsing is slower than my 40 down/20 up connection from 3. Using the same access points - only change was the F2000 router

Wired speedtests through the roof but slow surfing does not make for a happy house

I have the weirdest telephone line install.. I think the lad who built the house did it himself.
The cable is run underground from the closest pole (making an assumption here) which is about 100m away to the top of my private lane where it runs above ground (along the ground) for about 200m to my house.
Installers haven't reached my area yet but the fibre coils is on the closest pole and my house is part of the rollout.
I think I remember reading something about possible charges if you are 50m from the closest public road and no valid infrastructure already in place but can't seem to find it now.
Anyone with any experience of similar?

Linked to a couple of images. (no embedding, they are pretty big)
Cable coming out of the ground

    Junction box soon after

They shouldn't slow things down. Full gigabit. Unless your cabling is crappy.
There's a bottleneck somewhere - fun position to be troubleshooting wifi - when you've got fibre installed.
    I'm very jelly!

Splice box was put in at my house last week in a duct at side of house.
Still can't order but is it there much work usually after that(I know that's probably hard answer but an idea be great)

Yeah 1000mbs is overkill for 99% of domestic situations - I'd be more concerned about the fup that Gonzo is complaining about.

How are you testing xbox ps, don't they connect to their own VPN to run speed tests? So the wired tests are a bit skewed I'd say.
As for wifi? what do you expect it's wifi!!
Great to see wifi being the bottleneck about fuppin time.
Will apple stick the aul ethernet port back on the macbook? :D

wifi here still brutal on smartphones and tablets. Had friends over last night and all tried the wifi and within minutes they all switched back to Meteor because the response time was far too slow.

Worth forking out for a new wifi hub? - using an apple airport extreme I got from work at home, and I copy files from my laptop over wifi to my pc and I've no complaints would love to have the ftth to test it over that F2000 yoke that seems to have brutal wifi.
