Just finished Gone Home, was a nice little jaunt through the lives of Katie & Sam. As for the ending,
was I supposed to think that Sam had committed suicide in the attic, because I was absolutely convinced that I would find her hanging in the attic.

Yep, I think we all thought that!

I was invited to beta test the upcoming expansion for Sunless Sea so lately I've been playing that. Not much content added yet but I like the mechanics of it so far. Still buggy af, but hopefully that'll all be sorted.

There's something pretty liberating about playing it with captains I expect to die. I'm surprised how far I can travel on minimal fuel and supplies when I'm not worried about making the journey back. And often I do make it back through sheer luck. It's a good experience.

I'd give Blizzard loads of money for a remake the 3 Warcraft games in their latest engine (or even a new as yet unreleased one).

I'm not arsed about WOW and it sounds like the lore has become a load of convoluted bollocks but 2 and 3, at any rate, were solid on that front and great games in their time.

I just want proper control groups, sharp modern controls and all the pretty physics and stuff.

We're well overdue a WC strategy game at this stage. The Frozen Throne was released 10 years ago last week!
If there's no WC4 on the horizon I'd certainly be happy with a modern remake of the old ones in the mean time.

As much as SC2 is the daddy of the genre and I've loved it, I'd love something a bit slower.
It's just too difficult for anyone who isn't trained in Korean forced labour camps.

Meanwhile, with all the Pokemon hysteria at the moment I was feeling left out so I downloaded an emulator and have been playing Pokemon yellow for gameboy.
There's such solid RPGs. If they started to integrate that kind of gameplay into the AR stuff you could have something truly game-changing.
Go sounds a bit shallow and I'd imagine, after the buzz dies down, it'll fizzle out pretty quickly again. As far as I can tell it barely has any gameplay.

So, been playing quite a bit of Overwatch again, kinda burned out playing it a while ago but I am still enjoying it and I'm curious to see what the new hero is like, and excited to see how D.Va plays now that they've given her a buff. No more suiciding it seems.

Necropolis... Jesus what a letdown :(

Steamworld Heist, finished the last boss, now gotta check out the DLC I got. What a game! :D

Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West, this was going for free, I'm a sucker for westerns so had to give it a go. Bit dated but enjoyable multiplayer romp.

Shrouded in Sanctuary, went back to this and it doesn't seem quite as bad after Necropolis.

    Planetside 2
The salt must flow. The outfit I'm in is a decent but the real fun comes from us pretty much making the entire server hate us, especially VS. Paint the continent red!

    KpuHiEm.jpg

    Warframe
Made abomination cat/dog hybrid thing before it was patched. All I got was negative texture cat, not nearly as scary as some others'.

    h1DvgcB.jpg

    Alpha Protocol
Loving the VA, the story and spy plot progression. So much fun trying to get on everyone's good side. The girls get so jealous if they notice you being casual, friendly flirty or even just professionally praising other women. Game let's you be the biggest jerk spy ever. So far I'm being chaotic good as usual.

    MGSV
Meh. Just log on to deploy online missions and check on the grindy stuff. Rarely actually jump into missions myself.

    Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
On 3rd playthrough. I want to kill the dragon and set the world in ruin again, then run off into the DLC area. Nothing like fighting in the deepest, darkest and most dangerous dimensions in the known chain while leaving your home dimension in chaos. The will of the Arisen ;) Trying to dragonforge Warrior gear to give to my pawn. I want her wearing maxed out gear. She'll be wielding a max rusted greatsword which is actually one of the best utility weapon classes since rusted at high levels causes enemies to become slowed down. Combine that with a evil looking mask and sexy thong and I'll have made the perfect partner.

    Inside. It's an incredible game.

Not playing it but watching Day9 play it.

It's not really my bag but it's terrifying, brutal and absolutely gorgeous.

Been back on the Planetside 2 bandwagon for a couple of months now, just not bothered to post about it; Barney the purple dinosaur & the Smurfs must die.

Also sporadically playing CS:GO, Rocket League and Vietnam (strategy game) and threatening to load Shadowrun (need to finish Dragonfall and yet to play Hong Kong which I was a kickstart backer for)

I started playing Torchlight 2 last night. I just couldn't see myself playing this with a mouse (also I don't own a mouse) so I downloaded xinput mapper to allow the use of a 360 gamepad. Enjoying it so far.

Trying out Final Fantasy XIV at the moment and loving it picked the Pugilist class and the combos feel really nice during combat. Also started a multiplayer game of Civ iv with two friends today and thats going to be a long running thing for a while I'd say, first time playing multiplayer in a Civ game too. Played through inside and loved it didn't want it to end!

    Back playing ATS

Only played it for a small while but man, is it hard to maneuver those long ass trailers!

Finally wrapped up the last couple of achievements in Fallout New Vegas, after 191 hours, and 3 playthroughs... Still found new stuff on the 3rd playthrough, which was my fourth playthrough after PS. Also got the last few achievements in The Final Take. On now to Telltale's Jurassic Park, the occasional hour in Jips, Crashlands and a couple of F2P games...

I'm playing Witcher 3 again after a long absense, finished up a load of treasure hunt quests for Witcher gear and finishing side quests.

Also been playing some Battleborn. It's actually pretty good as a co-op PVE game.

And loads of Overwatch, because I can't stop it seems, very easy to jump in for a match and then end up playing until you level up.

Lots of DOTA 2, after discovering it. I want to play a bit more of 1001 Spikes but I'm at the point where the levels are very difficult and I may only clear one level in a proper sitting of the game.

So, I just played a game called Moirai. It's free, it takes about 10 minutes to play. Give it a go. Read absolutely nothing about it.

Back playing GTA V.(single player) I played this originally on xbox 360 when it first came out and I restarted through the campaign for a second time on PC. I also like to drive around to random places at speed and checking out the city and country side.

Sunless Sea and Convoy would be the closest.

The Division. Really loving it at the moment.

With no GPU I gave FTL another run. I still suck salty balls at it.

Gave Romero's new DOOM map a shot. Wow! Intense right from the get go! Challenging and fun as hell. Playing it with the music from nuDoom 2016.

    Finishing off GTA V
Re running Witcher 3 from the start to fully enjoy the expansions which i haven't played yet.

Those 2 alone will see me out for the rest of the year, never mind when NMS and Mount and Blade: Bannerlords are released :pac:

So I was playing a bit of Momodora, had to muck about with the config file to get vsync working, was experiencing horrible screentearing. The game wasn't unplayable, but it was enough of a distraction that it really annoyed me. The game is phenominal though, it's a rather Darksously Metroidvania, and I just got past the first boss which was absolutely hammering me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭Robert ninja

    @ Links

You can enable vsync from your GPU CP if you're on Windows. No need to mess with config files. I only go into configs for turning frame limits and smoothing OFF, which the GPU drivers often don't fully allow because the game is doing something client side. But the GPU drivers can always overlay their own on top.

I tried that, but it didn't work for some reason?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭Robert ninja

Huh, you're right. How odd. http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Momodora:_Reverie_Under_the_Moonlight#Vertical_sync_.28Vsync.29

Only game I've come across that had that. Maybe because it's 2D and not 3D.

Ghost of a Tale. Wow. Just incredible. Spectacularly good, especially as Early Access goes.

I've gone back to the old days and started a play through of a minecraft modpack. (I know, send me to the court of inquisition) probably play that until my friends get back from holidays, or rage quit (really embracing old MC) , whichever comes first.

I've just realised that I've racked up 300 hours on Rome: Total War. Not sure if my laptop will handle Medieval II. Might be just as well.
