It working out great for me as well. No complaints. Everything almost maxed out runs smooth as silk.

Just finished up Arkham Knight, well as most as im going to. Story mode complete and most of the DLC done. Very decent game considering the bad launch it had. just a couple of errors during the playthrough. you pick main game and season pass on some site for around 10 euro.

No idea what im going to get stuck into next.

TY the Tasmanian Tiger. Early access. Played it years ago on Gamecube. It is quite fun hard enough to find all the collectables.

    'Ghostbusters'

The 2009 version. It's ok, but just ok. Once you've trapped a couple of ghosts and played a couple of levels the fun gets a bit stale. I'll probably play it through, but at this stage, it'll simple to complete it for the sake of it.

Some of the voice acting is atrocious.

I've been playing Oceanhorn. Its a more casual version of Zelda Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass. And it literally is a Zelda game but with some random kid instead of Link. However for a game that was ported from mobile its actually ok.

Miscreated! I bought it ages ago and didn't play it much but over the last few months it had a load of updates and now it's a lot of fun. The world they've created is cool, it looks nice and it runs well.

Just having a look at the new Star Trek Mod for Homeworld Remastered.

    https://www.facebook.com/StarTrekContinuum/videos/1106982516059034/

    It's pretty comprehensive.
4 different Eras, plenty of ships from in and outside the canon, nice sound effects.

I think it's the first of the big mods from the Original game to hvae got the remastered treatment.
Complex mod 10 is on the way and I think there might be Mass Effect and Star Wars mods being worked on.

I've barely been posting in this thread, because it's pretty much been all Overwatch all of my gaming time, and a tiny bit of Planetbase when I want to chill.

    Mainly Arma 3.

Here and there I've been messing around with Valkyrie chronicles, rust and Crusader Kings 2.

I love going back to CK2 every few months.
I could see myself playing that game 20 years from now. Just pick a country, set yourself an objective, and away you go! Watch the hours slip by.

I've been flicking between Baldurs Gate 2 and FTL while i'm stuck on an older laptop.

FTL is still bloody hard, even knowing the game as well as i do. Going to give Convoy and Sunless Sea a go, as they are supposed to be similar.

yeah same here, i think ive got as good as im going to get with ftl. Both those games are 7.99 on g2play, convoy looks easier so ill start with that

Convoy is great, if a little more basic than FTL, there's nothing in the way of crewmembers and having them operate different functions or any direct analogue to that, but the main conceit in the gameplay is that it's more about the positioning of your support vehicles. There's something extremely satisfying about ramming an enemy into an oncoming obstacle, it gets the whole Mad Max meets FTL vibe very well. Sunless Sea is far more exploration and narrative driven though, it has similarities but very much it's own thing. Both are great though. ;)

Man I hate Sunless Sea, I just don't get the appeal. It's a more done up FTL from what I've garnered, makes it harder to learn with the sheer amount of info imo

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,752 ✭✭✭pablomakaveli

I loved Sunless Sea at first but I found the only way to make progress was to grind. Taking risks in exploring far out areas rarely paid off and it was easier to play if safe by doing trade runs nearer to Fallen London if you wanted to build up your funds.

Outlast. Actually I've played twice already but just suddenly want to experience it again.:woot: I'm waiting for season 2

Gave Jet Set Radio a go but just found it to be terrible. For a game where speed and movement is an important part of the gameplay, they're both terribly done. Felt like I was skating through treacle and the jumping is pretty inaccurate. So thats been relegated to the Feck off pile.

Ended up installing Dark Souls which I'm actually enjoying so far considering I've had it on the long finger for so long. Also gave Shelter 2 a go but the verdict is out on that one.

Still playing tons of Defiance, am just shy of lvl 600 and am considering spending a few quid on it to support the game and dev.

Installed The Long War on Xcom. It's so hard, I absolutely love it, it's forcing me to become a better strategist or I just get torn to pieces.

I find a lot of my shots tend to miss, even 70-80% ones where I have reasonable accuracy around the 35% mark, not sure if that's just me though

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

That's Long War baby :D It really is an exceptional mod, almost a TC in a lot of ways given the depth of the changes. It's easy to see why they hired the team behind it to make XCom 2 mods.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

The Long War is 10hp Regenerating Outsiders and pods of 5hp Thin Men and Floaters spawning simultaneously! Nothing like watching a sniper run from that :D

It feels like a bug but I think I'm just reading it wrong.

Shivs are amazing as well, how did I never know this?

It's a fantastic mod, all I want to play atm

Never played long war, but I played unknown and within, and later xcom 2. Looking back on it, I much preferred within over xcom 2. Few reasons, but the skinny of it is that my PC is a bit of a potato and has trouble running it at some stages (think it's bad optimization because I'm able to run much more intensive stuff) as far as gameplay goes, I just really hate the resistance theme, I liked the professionalism of within, hell, I was the guy who set up the lads in full black with the sunglasses beret option. Wearing a skull, please, I have standards :-) at the same time with xcom 2, the tech tree is pretty poor. I had to go my first play through without any psionics because my research was needed elsewhere. And also sneks are OP.

Is it worth looking at again?

I haven't touched it since I bored myself stupid with it in April 2015.

Ill give that a definite maybe :p I didnt burn myself out with it initially, so cant really say how much has changed/improved, but Im enjoying it at the moment. Bought horizons over the weekend, having played vanilla for bout a week beforehand. Reckon its still a bit overpriced at 25e imo - but I might be only scratching the surface
