Rationing my time with Kentucky Route Zero Act IV given it could be another few years before the concluding episode arrives. Have definitely never played another game that manages to maintain such a bewitching dream logic and tone. It's consistently funny, strange, mystifying and poetic, with some of the finest art design to ever grace a video game. Love the little experiments with prose, dialogue and narrative form - Cardboard Computer are peerless in the fluency and imagination with which they present their surreal text. One particularly effective scene I played through yesterday had two interlapping dialogue boxes managing to communicate both a conversation and melancholic flashbacks in a really smart, dynamic way.

As curious and cohesive as the project is as a complete piece, pretty much every scene functions as a lovely little short on its own terms - some of the musical ones are particularly effective. Always look forward to seeing what new piece of magical realism or subverted Americana awaits in each new area. It's a game that never seems in any particular rush, and I think playing it with that sort of leisurely pace really allows the developers to work their very particular magic.

Ripping and tearing in Project Brutality. This mod beats the living crap out of modern shooters combined with DOOM's original levels.

Trying to play Tekken 6 with WASD + Arrow keys. I can do basic things fine but iws4 w/ Dragunov is really feckin' hard and I still haven't fully got down BDC and quater circles. It'll take a while before it's muscle memory. Not sure if I'll stick with it for Tekken 7 or actually use my DS4.

Been hooked on Starbound for the last week but starting to feel a bit burned out from it.

Gave Armello a go after picking it up in the summer sale. Fun game but not sure I'll get much out of it long term.

Also been playing the Vault Tec DLC in Fallout 4.

So I picked up Downwell as it's 50% off on Steam currently and I had some wallet moneys, so I thought why not? It's quite fun :)

Played the first hour of Tomb Raider (2013) last night and have no intention of going back. I found it really difficult to care about what was going on. Imagine the first hour of a film was drab and uninteresting. Would you watch another ten hours of it?

I actually thoroughly loved that, far more than I thought I would, but easily the first part was by far the most tedious. It's a problem that plagues a lot of games lately, the first stage is heavily tutorialized, and comes across as patronizing and tedious. Both Witcher 1 & 2 I absolutely struggled to get past the first sections, and playing through the first game's intro mission can be described as nothing other than a slog, the second game actually took me two separate attempts before I could get past the first chapter. But I plowed through and ended up loving them. Hell, the first mission on Wolfenstein: The New Order made me yawn, felt like yet another generic shooter, and it wasn't until after the hospital level I really came to love the game.

So eh, I guess that's a yes? I would keep watching something to see if it picks up, perhaps a shorter Netflix series might be a better comparison there, would I keep watching if the first episode is drab and uninteresting? I've stuck with shows longer. I've stuck with shows where the entire first season was terrible muck, and didn't pick up until later seasons. Not saying you should go back to it, but Tomb Raider 2013 definetly picked up once the game let go of your hand, dragging you through cut scenes and quick time events, and let you explore and play on your own. It wasn't until the Mountain Villiage level that I really started to enjoy the game.

Started a playthrough of Assassins Creed 2. Havent played it since it was released on PS3. Still holds up well today and still easily the best AC game I've played.

Overwatch and little else. I had a slight relapse and downloaded WoW after about a year away, paid the monthly sub and logged in only to be confronted by the 'your talent points have been refunded' message. Went to look up how to respec my Warlock for maximum DPS and while doing that, it made me realise why I quit in the first place and I cancelled the account again. Hoping I won't be back for the next expansion.

I've been playing quite a lot this week (am still between jobs so have more free time than usual!) - Endless Legend (I love Civ games but finding it very, very hard to get into this. Doesn't seem as military/war focused as Civ?), Trine 3 (local co-op with the wife), Joe Danger 2 and Shadowrun Dragonfall.

Oddly, I found the first hour the most interesting of the entire game. It set up a lot of ideas and mechanics the game proper doesn't follow through on in favour of mindless shooting (which actively conflicts with the story being told and the characterisation of Lara) and sub-Uncharted setpieces. There's some fun to be had exploring and in the worryingly short bursts of actual tomb raiding, but overall I found it a dumb, hollow blockbuster with none of the character or sense of adventure of the original series.

Fired up Gunpoint after it sitting on the backlog for god knows how long. And I actually mean that, I have no idea how long I've had it, because I was actually going to buy it at one point only to discover I already had it. Derp! What a fantastic game though, utterly hilarious too.

Just finished 'Alien Isolation'. One of the most enjoyable and intense games I've played in ages.

Gutted that there's going to be no sequel. :(

Had a go at space engineers again. Turns out I could run the game and now I can't. Brilliant. Jumped on to a multiplayer server and accidentally crashed it by creating an infinite item duplication glitch. Apparently not only did I crash the server and my own PC, but apparently crashed some of the other people's PCs as well.

Been on Dead by daylight over the weekend.... should be more like waiting in Lobby until Daylight matchmaking is horrific.
Been trying a few custom battles in Total War Warhammer as well and although is very fun does get stale quite quick.

    LOL.

I'd love to have played 'Alien Isolation' on the oculus rift. I don't think my heart would be up to much afterwards though.

Some of my own personally made voicepack mods are in this collection, plus some recently made and absolutely awesome mass effect skins made by another modder. :)

No need to check on the current state of that game, then. Love the idea, loathe its perpetual early-access state.

Bought Doom Classic Complete in the recent gamesplanet sale and set up Brutal Doom for the original Doom. Feels like a different game!

Also got Alien Isolation and the Max Payne double pack in the same sale.

I'm about half way through Inside.

    Try Project Brutality. Superior IMO.

There's mods for Max Payne, too. http://www.moddb.com/games/max-payne-2

    I reccomend this one http://www.moddb.com/mods/payne-effects-3

I'm guessing Dragon Age. Loved the first, didn't like the second, no interest in the third. :D

Been playing a lot of Overwatch, so there's that.

Gave Tharsis a playthrough, resorted to cannibalism, then my ship blew up. Brilliant! :D

Finally played Spec Ops, bit underwhelmed tbh. I was more engrossed by the characters in Thomas Was Alone.
