    Oh? How come?

I ran into a slight problem earlier in that I started out in the Thieves Guild, but as it was underground and I had no torch/lantern and the darkness has been enhanced, I couldn't see jack :D I will have to look up the console command for a torch :)

Lowly serf! You explore and find a torch, or carve your own from wood. Or study magic and learn how to illuminate your surroundings with arcane powers!

Bur seriously, roleplay :P It's the best part of heavily modded modern TES. I was reading a thread where someone was playing as a little girl who made a living playing the flute and just explored the outskirts of cities collecting seashells and such to sell for small amounts of gold to traders. These games can be whatever you want them to be with the right mods and ability to immerse yourself.

I'm a part of a team that writes and runs LARPs, I know all about roleplay :P It's not out of order for an established member of a thieves guild to have *some* starting equipment :)

I'm seriously enjoying Rocket League, which despite having zero interest in either sportsball or cars, I love. It also has a split screen mode, so myself and herself played a match yesterday. Was great fun. :D

Started playing Mirrirs Edge. Not really liking it so far. Since its highly rated i'll give it the benefit of the doubt and keep playing for a while longer to see if it improves,if not i'll ****can it. Just finding the controls annoying and the lack of direction at times is a bit disorientating. It is a gorgeous looking game though.

If you don't have a gamepad forget it, its one of those games that sucks without one.

A game pad? For a First Person game? Colour me dubious! But I suppose with Mirror's Edge there's stuff that might suit it? I'm thinking about Dying Light and that's a parkour-style of game and using a controller to play it on a PS4 with a friend was about as much fun as getting kicked in the nuts for me. Mouse & Keyboard all the way.

Mirrors edge control scheme is unique. You need a very good gamepad to enjoy it. Takes some time to learn the mechanics.

I am playing with a gamepad but the controls still feel awkward. I'm hoping if I keep playing it'll win me over.

I recommend sticking with it (But only if you like platformers or rhythm timing/jumping games.) Also disable physX that absolutely tanks frame rate and responsiveness.

Mirrors Edge is a bad game IMO. That said, parkour doesn't suit gamepads as much as people think. Being able to turn sharply around corners and obstacles as well as quickly look left, right and 360° to survey the environment efficiently for any routes is an advantage. Platforming in first person is already hard even with a high FOV (and ME has low FOV) so it's actually better to go with the input method that compliments FPS.

I'd say the same would go for Dying Light which I will probably end up getting someday. I watched a friend of mine stream it. Gamepad might be better to temp switch to during driving but perhaps not. It looked very similar to Far Cry 2 driving which is perfectly fine and feels the same on pad and KB/M and I've played the game a few times over on both. But when it came to (Dying Light) running around he was doing that thing you see pad users do when using firearms. They overshoot where they wanted to look and then have to aim back again. Over the course of a game this can cause you untold amounts of wasted time, missed opportunities, missed shots and wasted ammo and in the real clutch situations even damage/death.

With parkour games there really isn't any strafing, dodging or backdashing etc like with a regular shooter or first person combat. It's just move forward so all the directional movement is done with the first person camera... so obviously a mouse is ideal especially at max momentum. In Dying Light it can go from Parkour to fighting in an instant but then KB/M will win there, too. Melee might not have the same feel, though. A minor loss.

Trying to get back into Witcher 3 after leaving it for a while, got the Collect 'Em All quest done :D

Same happened to me I think. left it for a while and then got back into it. Once I went back I could not get enough.

Just finished Lords of the Fallen. Glad I went back to this one. I really enjoyed this for some reason. How does this compare in difficulty to the Dark Souls games. Demon Souls drove me to desperation....

I think I've fallen out of love with Dark Souls again. First week was intensive playing then.. I don't feel like playing it anymore. When I do I'd play for a bit and die, then have no desire to try get back to where I was. New areas are just the same thing rehashed. Combat has gotten dull. I want to finish it out just so I can fully justify my opinion on it. I have yet to complete a Souls game. This happens every time. You'd think I'd learn. I was so excited at launch and the first few days were great though. I'll probably just co-op on easy mode until the end.

Finished the prologue to MGS5 last night.
Just arrived in Afghanistan, took out my first sentry then called it quits for the night.
    Dying to play again later.

The K&M settings are a bit wonky. The load screens are showing me tips using game pad controls instead of keyboard which is frustrating.
I'm surprised they didn't change this on the PC port. It seems like such an obvious flaw.

Either way, excited to get properly stuck in.
Riding the horse through the desert reminded me of Red Dead Redemption.

    Any tips for a newbie?

Demons is probably the hardest of the Souls games.

I'd be a Dark Souls veteran, beaten all 5 games, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne mulitble times.

Lords of the Fallen I just hit a stone wall in the second area, I cannot progress in that game.

So it's a different kettle of fish I guess, depends on the player.

I didn't fall madly in love with Dark Souls 3, when Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne came out I played them for months without touching anything other than Pokémon on journeys, yet I just beat Dark Souls 3 and went straight back to The Witcher 3. I'll probably finish The Witcher and hop between The Witcher 2 and Dark Souls 3 for a while though

Now fully committed to rolling sausages in Stephen's Sausage Roll. A hugely impressive feat of pure game design - a super weird concept taken to its fullest potential by its developer.

    Fulton everything.

Yes it's a sad situation. They were balls deep into the console design, though. Even the menus have no mouse input, everything is done from WASD and arrows keys. A crying shame since the iDroid menus look absolutely made to be navigated via a cursor. The staff management is outright a damn spreadsheet. Wasted potential.

I slightly customised my controls. Middle click is shoulder switch (use it!). The most important thing is to turn off aim assist and tune your sensititivies correctly. And make sure your graphics are appropriately set to maintain 60fps at all times, v-sync OFF to reduce input delay. That alone will make the biggest difference. For sensitivity, a full swing from one side to the other of your mouse mat (or mouse area) should do either a 180° or 360°, depending on on your preference. Either of those are good starting points to fine-tune it to be just right. Be sure to configure all aim modes. First person, 3rd person and shoulder view. 3rd person should obviously be 360° minumum from left to right of mouse mat/area because it's for surveying.

First person isn't good for actually switching between targets since the FoV is like 50. But it's good for lining up shots so not too sensitive.

FYI you can't assing function keys to anything or any hotkeys of any kind, really.

Giving the Ghost in the Shell game a go as it's currently having a free weekend, and so far it's eh... mediocre.

There's nothing particularly bad about it, but it's just a fairly average multiplayer PVP FPS with a lot of grindy unlocks. Might give it more of a go over the weekend, but I don't know, not expecting to be won over. On the plus side, I get to play as Togusa. Best mullet in all of anime. :D

Back in Killing Floor 2. Having soooo much fun with my Firebug. Diving into Mafia 2 again and jumping into Rocket League whenever my mates are keen. Christ Hoops is tough, I didn't bother going too far into learning flying etc. as it was more a game to break away to for a laugh/ relieve stress but if you can't fly forget about hoops!

Also playing Hyrule warriors and Majoras mask on my new DS XL my missus got me for my birthday :)

    Too many games to play...

Thought it was utter rubbish myself.
Animation is shocking, textures like something out of the 90`s it isn't even anywhere near the quality of the crap asian F2P shooters like AVA etc and that's saying something.

If your willing to give paladins a go I have spare codes, really is a fun multiplayer game.

Put about another hour into Mirrors Edge but just couldnt find any enjoyment from it so its been consigned to the ****e heap.

Started playing Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm again. Havent played since before Rising Storms release but i'm enjoying the Pacific maps. Really punishing game but getting a kill feels really rewarding especially when its a really well placed shot with a bolt-action rifle through a dark jungle. Having a good team and commander is essential as well. I was in a team that was getting hammered. A guy took over in the next round co-ordinating the team really well and we steamrolled through the objectives. Looking forward to Rising Storm 2 now.

Namely Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer. Always good for a 20min dose of fun and carnage.

Is that just a PUG or do you have people you play with regularly?

What's the community for the game like?

I probably haven't played in about 18 months.

Great game but I admit I stopped playing when I got my new monitor, after experiencing 144hz I couldn't play it considering it doesn't support more than 60hz.

Been exclusively playing AGE of EMPIRES II HD these days.... lots of game modes and maps and teams, keeps it interesting. ITs gone beyond the nostalgia factor, to the point that i think its probably simply one of the best game of its type
