    Any exit poll from Tipperary?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,100 ✭✭✭trixiebust

Did anyone else get a letter from Alan Kelly with their voting card asking for a No1 vote ?

I have only registered to vote for this election, and got a letter with my card thanking me for registering, and asking for a No 1 vote.

What did you want him to do ? Drive a few hundred kilometres away to inspect polling booths and be back in Thurles today for the count ?

You have managed his boards campaign well....;-)

Is there any factual info regarding the tallys as opposed to here say and mudslinging.

I didn't give Kelly my no 1 but I couldn't care less where he was hovering around.

Looks like 3 independents hold their seats. Lowry, Mattie, Healy. Cahill with take a seat for Fianna Fail. Straight up last man standing fight between the three government TDs for a seat. Kelly will be relying on transfers from Morris but it won't be enough as FG combined will beat him seat.

Marie Murphys transfers - put Coonan further ahead of Ambrose (FF)

So Ambrose (FF) goes out and the highest percentage of her (decent) vote goes to????
    And that determines a lot?

Edit any views on where Fitzgibbon (GP) will transfer to?

    Edit - tally with %
    100% Taly
    Lowry – 13,036 (18%)
    McGrath – 11,252 (15%)
    Healy – 7,730 (10%)
    Kelly (Lab) – 7474 (10%)
    Cahill (FF) - 7,318 (10%)
    Smith(FF) - 6609 (9%)
    Hayes(FG) - 6024 (8%)
    Morris(SF) - 5580 (8%)
    Coonan (FG) - 4685 (8%)
    Ambrose (FF) - 4441 (6%)
    Murphy (FG) - 1508 (2%)
    Fitzgib (GP) – 1252(2%)
    Dillon - 229

    Huh?
    Majority?
I presume you are referring to the candidate who got 18% of the vote. Thus the vast vast majority at 82% of people who voted cast their ballot in favour of other candidates.

Not sure what it goes to show but doesn't go to show what you claimed.

No it still shows that 13,000 voters will happily give him first preference. That's still the majority, it's the largest amount for one candidate. It does show that people here will happily vote in a tax offender.

People vote for the candidate who they feel will do something for them as far as I can see. Those who voted for him probably did for this reason regardless of his personal affairs.

That's still mainly in North Tipp. He didn't grow his vote as expected in the south. In fact in Clonmel he only got 2%. That means 98% of the people basically told him to **** off.

Yes getting 13,000 votes shows that 13,000 people voted for a candidate.

Not the revelation of the century.
That's still the majority, it's the largest amount for one candidate. .

The majority and the largest amount for one candidate is not the same thing.
He did not get the majority vote.
. It does show that people here will happily vote in a tax offender.

    New point.
Democracy people can vote for whom they want - whether they do it happily, sadly, out of choice or out of necessity is totally up to themselves.

    Brilliant if true.
Arrogance does not pay in Irish politics thankfully.

No it is revolutionary, if this were a normal area people wouldn't vote in someone messing with taxes.
In democracy people can vote who they want yes, but if they vote in someone like Lowry it is a disgrace and I have every right to call people out on that.

Topped the poll five times in a row??I am not a supporter by the way..just hearing this live now from count centre.....

    Changing the argument evertime but
    No it is revolutionary,

Agreed. But I simply restated your post
The revelation bit was about the number of votes not the candidate - hence my point of changing the point of the argument.

In democracy people can vote who they want yes, but if they vote in someone like Lowry it is a disgrace and I have every right to call people out on that.

You absolutely do, thats one of the great features of a democracy.
You can think its a disgrace, you can call people out on it.

My point was that your original post was wholly inaccurate as explained above
Another great feature of a democracy is that other people can think different things to you.
The post didn't "call people on it" - it made a general inaccurate statement of opinion.

To note - I may or may not agree with your underlying sentiments.
The point was how factually inaccurate your original post was.
