I heard that there is a camera peripheral. You can connect it into the top of the console while there is a little roll of paper beside you which can print the images instantly.

Now that's innovation! You can actually have a hard copy of your photos as opposed to them just sitting on your digital camera or phone before inevitably getting deleted. Surprisingly nobody considered this before.

Taking backwards compatibility to a whole new level!

Still have one of those, must get some thermal paper for the printer....
And you want to connect it to the top of the console?
    Hmm....
I think I've seen that before too....

I really want to be able to port over my Miitomo to the Switch as well; only reason I spend time doing those stupid games to get the costumes...

I'll be really glad if they have put an IR sensor in the Switch. The Wii may get some stick for being gimmicky but the Wiimote controls are vastly underrated imo. It seems the IR may be more for touch screen controls so the aiming may not be accessible but we'll see.

That's a huge load of nothing though, it could be a total nothing reveal like "YES GUYS, IT DOES HAVE A TOUCH SCREEN! :o "

It COULD be that, from if you watched the video you can tell it's something a bit more I would say.

It really sucks that Nintendo is being Nintendo. No more news until next year, not launching for Xmas too. Like ffs Nintendo, give us moar!!! :pac:
I would have gladly bought it for Xmas. Even if it would had Mario games only. I hate those, but someone in the house would love it!
At least it's coming out in March for my birthday. :)

I don't think it would have had mario games even, if the rumours are correct. It seems to me Zelda is ready to go, but they're holding it back for NX launch, like TP with the Wii.

That's a kick in the bolloxx for all WiiU owners, all 17 of us. Zelda is obviously ready to go and has been for a few months now. I don't see the advantage of holding it back to coincide with the Switch.

I imagine that was the original plan, but Iwata kicked the bucket. It delayed BotW too. There are rumours that they are well ahead of schedule as is. Guess they just backed off in case the change of management slowed things down.

I'd buy it if they just released sequels to the GC launch line up, a new Super Monkey Ball, New Luigi's Mansion, New Waverace and a new Star Wars Rogue Squadron sequel... awesomeness....

Any danger of that showing up?

Assuming this console is capable of running them, I see no reason why the upcoming crop of AAA titles shouldn't be out on the Switch as well.
I'm just hoping we don't wind up with another Watchdogs situation.
Forgetting for a moment that the game was sh1te no matter what format you played it on, the WiiU version was incredibly delayed, selling at full price while other editions were heavily discounted, and the game ran poorest on the format too, with even the 360/PS3 versions being superior, while the WiiU extras we were awaiting turned out to be just as forgettable as the game itself.
So, here's hoping we get ports without compromise.

Yeah but after the Wii and Wii U I'm not holding out much hope. I imagine the launch will have a bunch of 3rd party ports, call of duty and watchdogs 2 maybe, then it will gradually dry up after that.

I guess we should use a recent, successful launch as the best model, so look at the PS4.
The PS4 had a lacklustre launch, in terms of actual content.
The only game worth having on the system, as a person who loves games, was Resogun, the rest were pap.
What it had to rely on was the number of people still playing a Sony Playstation format, the PS3, during the phase in which game production for the PS4 ramped up, along with the numbers of adherents to the new console.
The Switch will have a problem there, as long as it is the home console model we are looking at, as the WiiU doesn't give it that large base of players who will happily move, over time, to the new console.
However, if we instead think of the Switch console as being able to rely on the handheld market for support going forward, things aren't so bleak.
It won't affect expectations of the former 3DS owner, except that we can expect such fare as Monster Hunter Generations Zero and other big franchises that have found their home on the 3DS to bring the gaming fans along.
I don't think we need to worry quite so much about the WiiU launch and it's lack of attractiveness to the great unwashed but be reminded that there is a Nintendo playing public that loved the portable hardware in their millions, and they are a ready market to exploit, providing a ready userbase to exploit, and this will compel developers to bring their goods to the system.

    That's the spirit.

There's not much to expect from a nintendo console and 3rd parties! I'm just here for the 3rd party stuff.

G'way outta that! That's like saying you only buy the magazine for the articles. We need the filthy first party stuff aswell as the 3rds. We need it all and we'll get it all!

    BELIEVE.

Then a Nintendo console in 2017 is not for you. If it takes off like the Wii did, it'll get it's own third party titles that later get ported onto other consoles to make some extra money; but people on here enquiring about RE7, and even mentioning Watchdogs 2, are in for a bumpy landing I'm thinking. This machine still has Iwata's stink on it; maybe if this too fails, Nishima will have the sense to put out a console that can actually bat with the likes of Scorpio, so there'll be genuine multi-platform third party support.

Look, if the last couple of years taught us anything it's that :
Nintendo are willing to get behind a developer for a niche project in the right circumstances ( Bayonetta 2)
Nintendo and Microsoft can see eye to eye in the right circumstances (Minecraft, Rare replay)
And when you put that together, you get Nintendogs vs Kinectimals : Melée.

The Switch puppy needs to be a pre-order bonus... I know that would set the whole "Nintendo is for kids!" arguement back about 100 years but **** those teenage fanboys, no one cares what they think and that thing is adorable.

Anyone read up about the Switch's R2D2-esque projection system?

so you plug off his ears and detach his head from his shoulders. Jeez Nintendo, not doing much for animal welfare there.
Did they not learn their lesson from the Mario and Tanooki suit debacle, they obviously haven't learned from past mistakes and the Switch is doomed to failure.

Nintendo Switch patents hint at the console's secrets

Patents filed show Nintendo Switch could feature a built-in projector and allow swappable controllers

    http://www.wired.co.uk/article/nintendo-switch-patents-secrets

We know that all the Switch's secrets haven't been revealed yet and I could see a projector being included. I remember Miyamoto talking about that feature at least a couple of generations ago. And if he talks about it then it's definitely a possibility. I may be wrong but I don't think it would be expensive to implement either.
