I'll get up at 7, if I can manage it, so will see if can get a direct link, since youtube channels and all will have individual videos for different segments as they do with Directs with trailers.

Though I have a confession to make, which I hope doesn't get me banned from this forum.... I more than likely won't get the Switch at launch.

Hedging your bets is a smart move in this case. You can easily get your fiver back from Gamestop by going in store once Smyths have listed their pricing/bundles.

Is it me or is there more of a buzz about this console than other recent consoles.
I suppose much of that is because, this is what is normally conducted by other hardware manufacturers at the E3.

I wonder how long it'll take the trolls to set up a "Nintendo are dead and should be a 3rd party dev" thread?

It's probably already in general gaming. Nintendo should go third party, I've grown out of Nintendo games, I want more mature gaming, why can't I play latest call of duty/GTA nonsense on a nintendo machine, etc.

Mmmmmm not really fair to call it nonsense. I'm in a very privileged position whereby I can buy a Switch and I currently have a PS4, so even if Nintendo don't get 3rd party support, I won't miss out, but if I want to play Nintendo games & other AAA titles, GTA, Dark Souls III, Skyrim etc, I have to buy two consoles? 3. Didn't have 3rd party support because of point 2

The switch needs

1. To be marketed properly
2. Needs to be powerful enough to be worth developer time
3. Needs 3rd party support for longer than 6 months.
4. A steady release of games. Droughts aside from the usual summer drought are not acceptable.

I'm reluctant to do the €5 pre order with GameStop as I'm waiting for the inevitable SKUs. I still feel like I should prepare order the base system just in case though. I'm not sure.

Pre order. SKUs will likely be limited in Ireland to the base unit, with the possible option of a bundle with a game later on (like the Zombi U Wii U) and you can move your pre order to another sku should it come available. But if nothing comes up then at least you're guaranteed a console

If by SKU's you mean different storage capacity models, I am praying that they are clever enough not to do that.

Once size fits all, rather than a perceived "cheapo" option is a better look, in my opinion of course

I wouldn't mind if they offered 500GB or 1TB. If the options are like "32GB" expansion by SD card I'm already not bothered. It's 2017 - 32GB is nonsense storage.

How big of an SSD is realistic to keep the total cost at 300?

See, that's another thing. Having a €250 pricetag and it only has 32GB's of storage means it's not really €250. It's passing the buck onto us as it's likely another €50 forked out on top for a decent memory card. 32GB's is not and should not be acceptable.

With all of us pre ordering the Switch with Gamestop it'll be interesting to see what their price is. Should it be more expensive that other retailers and everyone cancels, will it wake them up that they can't keep screwing us over? Probably not.
