Because the very existence of a ratings system would suggest to me that sex workers are actually NOT as good in bed as your reasoning might lead you to believe.

I don't hire prostitutes so I can have sex with women out of my league, i hire them so i can have sex full stop. Ideally the tendency would be earlier marriage, which would level the playing field and all men could get a partner. In the modern age marriage is something people in their 30's do, and sex is something a minority of 'top' men do with a majority of the woman, leaving a huge deficit for a good number of men myself included.

Now, given that the vast majority of women are not sex workers, do you still think it's not a foolish thing to say that sex workers are better in bed by virtue of the fact that they are sex workers?

I would say given that the vast majority of men are satisfied by women who are not sex workers, that it stands to reason there is no basis to claim that sex workers are any better in bed merely by virtue of the fact that they are able to charge for the experience.

The fact they are able to charge for the experience simply says more about the people who pay for it, than it does about the people who charge for it.

Yes that would be the case where there is good communication between both people and they have gotten to a point where they both know what each other likes. It would be different in a one off encounter. If you take the beautiful art of fellatio for example; there would be a fair bit of technique involved there. A gigolo is probably better at cunnilingus than I am.

and also just to get a clarity on the livelihood point which I think is important:

1) if you have a hooker with 6 kids and no qualifications and struggling to manage financially even on the hookers wage

And

2) you have a hooker with a college degree but works as a hooker because it handier and she doesn't like 9-5

will the first hooker who is struggling be better because her livelihood depends on it more?

Both are doing it as their bread and butter. Both have an incentive to ensure their customers are satisfied.

It's basic business, not that I'm much of a businessman but I understand some of the key concepts - make your customers happy, they spread the word that your offering is good and they become repeat customers. Don't make your customers happy not only do not come back, they tell more people to avoid your company/product/service/whatever.
