Experience counts for nothing, and it's simply foolish to assume that a person's number of sexual partners is any indication that they are likely to be good in bed.

A person could have sex with a thousand people, and still have learned nothing, or they could be a virgin who could blow your mind.

Old Question: "How do you get to Carnagie Hall?"

One Eyed Jack: "Practi...cally everyone gets to Carnagie Hall because everyone is potentially brilliant anyway. I once saw someone on the street playing beautiful cello with only a disused windscreen wiper for Christs sake."

I wouldn't say delusions, as much as differing viewpoints. You or I might find certain opinions delusional, but that doesn't mean they're any less valid to the poster making them.
Yet were a poster to pronounce that their opinion (better still claim as fact) that people of African origin were intellectually inferior to other groups, it would still be no less valid to them, but should we quietly 'agree to disagree'?

It's one thing to respect the right of someone to have an opinion, another to respect the opinion itself.

What has struck me about this thread is how partisan it has become. Two groups on opposing sides, thanking only the posts of other members of their group, and discussing often irrelevant points for pages on end without budging an inch either way (or even bothering to take on board rebuttals). A complete waste of time.
I have a real problem with the phrase 'typical' female etc. It's a phrase used to dismiss an opinion based on gender and I would never use it to describe a man's opinion, whether I agreed with it or not. I could easily say "Oh Corinthian's posts are typical male rubbish" or whatever, but I wouldn't because it's a stupid thing to say and it's not true. It's a lazy, spiteful way of putting someone down and it irks me no end!
I agree. Given this, I do think that you can identify trends in male or female behaviour; it doesn't mean that that all males or females are like this, but neither can one seriously claim that such trends do no exist either.

At the same time, some of these supposed trends are the product of pseudo-scientific theories promoted by radical feminism or supporters of 'red pill' type groups.

One such 'gender trend' is the 'power motivation' behind men who go to prostitutes. For me, this rings quite false, or even if true may represent a tiny proportion of such men, yet so polarized is the discussion that only one side has criticized it; indeed, have you - who supposedly have a real problem with the phrase 'typical' generalizations done so? No, because you're as partisan as everyone else here. And so this discussion is really going nowhere.

I think this post is actually a far more balanced analysis than your last one tbh.

To this I can only say that it's best to pick your battles. If a person makes a claim that you believe to be without merit, then is the claim so silly that it's just not worth entertaining, or is there something worthwhile to be gained in exploring their basis for their claims. Sometimes it turns out the penny wasn't worth the candle, but you only realise this in hindsight. Sometimes it's better for your own sake to quietly agree to disagree.

Didn't think you were a person who analysed the whole thanking thing tbh. The only reason I didn't thank your last post is because while it was good (let's be honest they're always good! :D), I couldn't agree with a lot of it, but there was far too much in there to dissect and discuss, but I took all of it on board, so it certainly wasn't a complete waste of time. Sara's post after was just funny, that was all. I like to think that even though we often have opposing views here that a little light hearted humour helps defuse the tension.

Spot on tbh, can't argue with this. It's often the reason why I hold off on giving my opinion sometimes (I really do! :pac:), because I know what I'm thinking in my head, but often times someone else will be able to say it better, and then I'm envious of them that I'm not as articulate as they are. It's something I admire in another person as opposed to allowing myself to become bitter about it though.

I wonder how your man got on with the Hungarian escort after. Hopefully he'll come back to discuss his antics, kind of like the secret diary of a John.

Yea and if i am ever lucky enough to come across a vermingoulous ill give you all an update. Maybe we can even compare the experience a woman will have with the vermingoulous against the experience a man would have with the average hooker. :)

In terms of thanking posts , I just thank posts that I agree with. Like jack said, some of the points you made in that long post Corinthian I did agree with it however the post was so long and detailed and although there were many of the points that I disagreed and agreed with, I felt alot of them had already been reputed and argued over endlessly on both sides and that was one of the posts that I decided to walk away from.

Also my post after, was a joke. And i thought given that you had made a couple of your own jokes within your post that you would bd able to see the fun side which im sure you did.

I think we all realise that there are very different set opinions on both sides and by this stage after all points have been raised and considered, that we will all have to agree to disagree. :)

On a lighter note, I'm off to watch a movie now. 12 Angry Men, any of you ever see it? It's a classic ;)

Lads I'm locking this one up. The discussion I think has been done over at this stage and the thread was started by a re reg troll (Harrymagina for those interested!) and is just re reg bait at this stage.

A good place for a balanced discussion on this subject would probably be the humanities forum but if anyone feels the desire to start a thread there, please do read their charter before doing so or before posting in any such threads.
