Internet poor as per trip advisor.

To me it is bad news that Tiger Woods is playing. I don't want to watch every shot he takes. He might play ok but imo will do well to play 72 holes.

I fear Tiger might be hacking and they keep showing him. My preference is to see a few shots from every player. As the tournament develops then show the contenders or players making a move. US TV coverage tends to show the stars and a few leaders, and seldom show anyone else.
Search Youtube for the 1974 US Masters. In in they show about thirty golfers. That type of coverage is better.

There should be some touristy bars nearby - Irish or English themed - that will be showing the Masters. Have you tried posting a query on the relevant TripAdvisor forum?

    Was thinking that . Thanks.

I guess Lads, as golf fans. There is nothing like your home set up . Perfect picture. Volume as loud as you want . A kettle or a Red.

Talking a bit of crap on here.

I'll even miss the major craziness.

Do they really pay an appearance fee for a major?:eek:

It isn't an appearance fee as in the money paid by tournament organisers. He lost a lot of sponsors after the scandal. His two main sponsors now are Nike and Hero MotoCorp of India and his contracts will include obligations to make a certain number of appearances and gain a certain amount of TV exposure. As he has been out of action for several months, his account on these fronts will be in deficit, so he needs to give them a big payday. The Masters is the obvious place to do it.

    From TigerWoods.com:

"I am also happy to announce that for the first time I will compete in the Wednesday par-three tournament as a thank you to my fans. I have skipped this wonderful event in the past in order to fully focus on the main event but out of respect for fan favorite Arnold Palmer who is siting out this year, I look forward to competing in place of golf's King."

    A later update:

"With great reluctance I must announce that I have withdrawn from Wednesday's traditional par-three event as my peeps have informed me that playing in this event will require much chipping and pktching. Sadly, my case of the terminal yips will likely re-surface and carry over to Thursday's main tournament. Naturally, my goal for the Masters will be to hit all 72 greens thus avoiding any need for chipping and pitching. Wish me luck."

I enjoy all 3 majors but nothing comes close to The Masters. Its up their in my Top 5 sporting events of the year.

OK, that makes some kind of sense. It's not really a matter of getting an appearance fee: it's more a question of fulfilling a commitment to his sponsors so that he doesn't renege on the terms of his sponsorship deals.

I think it will be a miracle if he makes the cut but, as others have said, Tiger used to specialise in miracles, so you never know.

Will you be home in time for the final round on Sunday? If not, then a negotiated settlement with your spouse that would allow you to watch the final round without recrimination may be your best option.

So this is on Sky. Are the final two rounds also being shown on BBC?

Back at post #154 I put up a few players who have done well at their first US Masters since Zuzzy Zoeller won in 1979.

    A few more:
1982: Dan Pohl lost a playoff to Craig Stadler
1984: David Edwards 3rd, three shots behind Ben Crenshaw.

Masters on the range is on Sky Sports 4 now for anyone who is interested. Just showing some players on the practice facilities... not the most exciting viewing but a nice little appetizer.

Nice to see the odd ball about 10 yards from the bays.... Either they're human after all or Tiger was out earlier

Just a survey done by the Pros at the Masters this week.

I am surprised that Bubba is hated on Tour so much. I thought he was well liked. Am I missing something obvious?

Well if how he treats his own caddy is anything to go by then I'm certainly not surprised.

The fact that he is a bit of an ar*ehole. Watch him the next time he misses a shot. His caddie invariably gets a bollixing.

Ah OK. Still thought it might take bit more then that. I know lot don't like Reed and Sabbataini but was surprised at how much a gap there was.

Just watching some footage of Tiger hitting a few chips during his practice round right now on The Golf Channel... looked very tidy indeed.

And his driving is back to normal.... :D

I really fancy Jordan Spieth this week. He's in unbelievable form so far this year (ok probably should have won last night but still he was right up there) and finished second on only his first trip to Augusta last year. Also he's a cracking putter which is of course vital at Augusta.

I think this guy will emerge as the clear challenger to McIlroy at the very top of the game over the next couple of years and I think he'll start that process by winning this week.
