Can see on Sat24 possibly the reason for tonights forecast. http://www.sat24.com/en/eu Big blob of cloud just coming into frame, out in the Atlantic, pushing east.

Showers seem to be loosing steam in Galway bay so I doubt they will travel too far inland

not sure, but if you go to Met Eireann look at the rain radar and play it back a few hours to what we have now and it doesnt look so promising, shows the showers coming in thick and fast into the west and dying out before the midlands. Hopefully this will improve later on.

Everything so far over the past 4 days has died a death by the time it gets to the east coast apart from one or two ninja showers, so lets see what happens.

Saw that as well a while ago but more recently it looks like the big main blob is heading to our south, from my untrained eye. The other area of cloud above that is kinda heading this way, from what I can tell but looks a bit southerly destined as well.

Perhaps it's just the area of showers that is to pep up with an embedded front. Going by Matt Hugos recent twitter, it would appear to be the case

After wild thunder and lightning and hail in the past hour here in South Donegal. Brief shower of very wet snow just now. Temp is 2°, dewpoint -1.1°

I think that is an area of jet stream cloud moving NW/SE ahead of a warm front out in the mid-Atlantic.

seems to have warmed up though
same here. rising steadily, up to 1.6c now so even if those showers make it as far as my backyard it will only be rain/sleet.
    2.0c now.
