Why don't these protestors pour their considerable efforts into protesting against the USC charge which costs significantly more to working families?

Eh, it was me who first questioned the photo.

Ive said it before on the thread, getting people to support the idea of not having another bill in the door isn't hard. Educating them on why you should pay for water is a much more difficult job.

Here we go again ,The notion that keeps been brought up again and again that somehow the anti crowd are not intelligent enough to understand the issues and need to be somehow educated and shown what is best for them.

This condescending attitude only helps to fan the flames.

I would like to see IW to cease trading and water to remain controlled by government/local auth
During the week, it was suggested that troublemakers were infiltrating legitimate protests. This suggestion was dismissed and condemned unanimously by protest groups. These same groups are now saying the brick thrower does not represent them. Can't have it both ways. If the protests aren't being infiltrated then the fella who threw the brick is representative of the protests. If he isn't then it's time to recognise the fact that protests are being hijacked and address it.

Paul murphy should be commended imo.

A shining example of a TD actually working in behalf of the people who voted him in.

He got 6500 votes out of the 70,000 electorate. The fact that 45,000 of them didn't bother to vote is democracy in action. He might do something for the locals in between trips to Gaza and Cuba.

Either figuratively or literally, haven't we all at some point or another thrown a brick at someone?

I would like Irish Water as a company to remain in it's current form
And held their hands up that he/she made a mistake.

Get over it and move on, it's getting tiresome.

The various groups, such as direct democracy Ireland, who are very quick to stick up things proclaiming foul play, are very slow to retract them though.

    https://www.facebook.com/directdemocracyireland?fref=ts
It's still getting shared this morning.

    Then theres the comments.........

Gerard Smyth You mean the paper that is owned by..Dennis O Brien..the sole benifactor if Irish water gets going....oh id believe nothing that paper publish regarding Irish water...

Do people do absolutely no research in to things at all?

    Strange assertion.

Another way to look at that would be that 45,000 eligible voters didn't get out and vote for a coalition party candidate, or rejected a coalition candidate.

    But whatever.

A few people out of hundreds or thousands do something silly, it's not going to stop people from protesting or refusing to pay more for something they're already paying for through their taxes.

We have corrupt scumbag politicians taking bribes and people still voting for the party they were associated with.

Perhaps we shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush, I know the main political parties have been infiltrated by dodgy scumbags, but they can't all be the same, can they?

Unfortunately had the radio on listening to Joan Burton moan away, she may as well put on her blue shirt at this stage.

I'm not a member of ddi, never voted for ddi, wouldn't vote for ddi, and think they're nutty as squirrel dung.

Ben gilroy was in a coffee shop in Naas when I popped in one Saturday afternoon, if that has any relevance?

    What's your point?

    Mildly amusing though.

It sort of mirrors the scenario around the incident in Dundalk. Every point was countered by "what do you think of the old man's genitals being power hosed".

The discussion will move on, but for the time being a lot of concentration is being put on the events yesterday.

Tell you one thing, it's lucky for Joan the Moan and her mates in the Indo that reporter had one of those 'hollywood style' mobile phones to video that scumbag.

Jesus lads, get over the brick, will ya's..
A scumbag fired a brick at a cop car, hopefully he was caught and charged.
Any normal person looking at the original photo would think it was photoshopped.
    The video proved otherwise.
Is this all you have left now to attack anti water tax posters?
    Sad.

Could have said they exact same thing about the anti side last night, it's hard learning that your righteous indignation was completely unnecessary isn't it?

Again do you still refuse to accept the slight possibility there's a bad element involved in these protests now?

That's the point. Have the admins of their facebook page been conveniently asleep for the whole time since proof emerged?

They were straight on the case to proclaim it as photoshopped without any evidence.

Was the comment about Denis O'Brien any less wrong when it was posted?

If anything I'd say DOB would be better off financially if the whole thing was scrapped. I'd imagine he could sue for the contract to be paid without having to spend the money installing his companies (his is not the only company installing meters) portion of the meters.

As I said, I was the first to question the photo on this thread, and it turns out I was wrong.
But I'd rather question things than to accept everything at face value.
Unquestioning yes men were part of the problem that got this country in the state it's in.
Michael Martin admitted as much on the Saturday night show last night.

My point is , as I posted earlier , its the defence that seem to be keeping this one going. The only posts coming up on my facebook are people shareing the false story about it being a shopped photo with plenty of comments denying its real, denying it happened or saying its a Gard in disguise.

There are other sources for the story too and pages condeming it as photoshopped lies. DDI just happened to be the most convenient source when I went to facebook to get it.

Maybe he is a representative of the anger feel by the forgotten youth of this country ,Which is an even scarier thought.
    or
He could be just a little d**khead ,

Who knows ,There is a lot of different answers to this not just black and white

But I'm sure you know this....

There's scumbags in every section of society.
Apparently the guy throwing the brick is a teenager from the area.
He's hardly liable for a water tax now, is he?

Its funny, You are going to try getting a few more days out of some tool that threw a brick. Hes probably the same type of edgit that throws them at Dublin Bus in the area.

    And you call that infiltration.

You clearly dont understand the term or dont get the gist of the protests.

Because you and DX wont derail this using some tool with a brick as your crutch.

    lols.

Either are lots of the people at the protests, doesn't stop them being counted. Its ok to include kids in the protests when it suits, yeah?
