Every subsection should have a chat thread tbh, keeps things tidy

Could be on to something there. Stuff can get lost in here fairly quick.

There a few threads in projects where I find myself wanting to ask how exactly do you do that but don't because it breaks up threads too much.

If i'd have made a build thread for the S60 it could have been summed up with a single video clip.

Dunno why I didn't book flights for today!

    why what are they saying?

Money making racket, can't get a date, new rules are BS etc etc. Little do they know that it can pretty much be done at any stage now.

Needless to say I'm hungover today...

I am sure somebody asked this before but im just too tired to check, but can anyone tell me how i can get an alloy wheels for a merc cls 350? the wife broke the front alloy and the garage said the alloy was welded once before. Advice needed

It is a money making racket, it is difficult to get a date (the online thing is pretty pointless at this stage) and the new rules are BS (how can you be penalized if with one month to go on your nct the next date is 1 further month away, for instance)

Because you shouldn't have the car on the road without a full window.
Walk, bus, bike, run, ****ing fly for all they care.
    No NCT, no drive.

I'm not saying I agree with it but that's how it is.

But there's really no excuse for not getting a date in time when you can book it at pretty much any time now.

€55 a year is not going to break the bank and let's be honest, it's the only thing that tells a lot of people that they need new tyres or something has to be done to their car.

DoneDeal, Adverts and Ebay are the way I'd go. Breakers too. Failing all that, a dealer should be able to get them at an extortionate price.

Oh dear god just got the dreaded "engine fault - reduced power" message.
Something tells me that after 70,000 miles this reliability is going to end. :(

    Insurance>>Tax>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NCT imo

I can't drive my car, my tax is broken!

You can book it at any time but the dates for FEBRUARY are all but gone already, let alone december and january. I used to be able to log on and get a day within 2 weeks up to a few months ago. 55 doesnt break the bank but on top of 1 euro a litre fuel tax, motor tax, insurance (3-5 times for some people ;)) it's just another tax.

I know when my tyres need replacing, I don't need some untrained careless monkey to tell me that thanks.

The winter months always have a back log, it has been that way for years.

While you or I may know when your tires need replacing, most of the typical population don't.

There's been a backlog since august this year.
They do, maybe they choose not to do anything about it but that's another thing.

And why should I be penalized to the tune of 2-300 euro per year just because some mouthbreathing eejits can't get their car serviced and keep on top of maintenance!

From my experience filling tyres for people, I've had to tell quite a lot of people they need new tyres and I've been met with the response that they didn't know they should be changed after six years or after the thread is pretty much gone :pac:

You know my stance on this subject, unfortunately I'm not a Garda.

And its the actuator and turbo that needs replacing!
We're doing it ourselves from tonight on, if i can think through the anger I'll take a few pics :)

Feck it anyway 70,000 and she causes trouble.
Some of you may remember the Midway meet of 2013, it was beginning to raise its head at that point so i can't give out :D

Of course I agree and anyone driving without an NCT should be hung drawn and quartered.

The nct is grand like it tells me how to fix my golf and its the only way to know boy if the lower kit is work like well you know and its an excuse to clean it and you cant be getting your hands dirty unnecessarily and that you know its good that all motorists are subject to this test every year just like every BPM u'll drink the energy drink it is good and dirty too.

Not bad for 70,000 whistle powered miles to be fair. German reliability and build quality IMO!

The Gardai honestly don't seem care about it (recent multiple experiences!) once your tax and insurance are fine. Though if you're taking the mick as they'll then use it as a stick to beat you with.

I'm pretty sure I'd a car with a lapsed NCT for about 6 months at one stage...

Because you chose to own 4/5 cars :pac:

Thats been my experience up to now too.
My zed has an nct expired in 2013 and "be graaand like" up to now but I'm waiting to see what the new reaction from AGS is before bringing it to Dublin.
