Try this instead, I found it easier
    Power box off from switch.
Insert USB containing image in rear port
Press and hold in ok while switching on.
    When FORC appears release ok
Use up/down to select enigma then quickly press right arrow until FACT appears.
Box will now start flashing for approx 8min.
When done box boots into enigma2.

Thanks for that, but am going to stick with Spark ( for a while at least ). Just have to sort out my favourites properly (am halfway there!!)

    Running Hyperion 4 image.
I find Auto timer in general seems to work well, except for one ongoing issue I have.
Everytime I set to record Fair City (don't ask!!) on RTE1 (4 days a week) it doesn't record. It says it is starting to record etc., it creates a file alright but its empty in size.
I ONLY see this issue with this programme and it doesn't matter if I set it up on Sat or Saorview.
I've checked through all the settings and am stumped why it isn't recording. Other programmes record fine with Auto Timer on the same channel.
Using just Timer it will record fine - so it looks like it is an Auto timer issue.
If anyone can offer any advice it would be great.

It was for hit and miss timer recording that i gave up on Hyperion. I used up all brownie points i had built up :(

Got some back after jumping on to OpenATV :)

Is open ATV safe enough for me to try yet without burning the house down?

    Hi all

Here's a link to my complete OpenATV based Image. It's been made from OpenATV 4.2 from 17/12/2014

    http://goo.gl/j8y5fW

This image is working with the following plugins and bits working:-
AutoTimer, AutoVolumeAdjustment, AutoBoquets, CrossEPG (0.62), Various Skins, Picons, Time from NTP, OSCam v10078 with v9989 also included (blank with sample line), OpenWebIf, Streaming, SambaServer, RTEPlayer, TS Media and XBMC Addons. CrossEPG is also flushed out once a week. This image uses the bundled OpenATV EPG.

You can obviously install any other plugins you choose. Please READ the "Champions OpenATV Image - README" located in the download folder, and read posts #1 and #2 of this thread before asking further questions.

The image is setup to use DHCP automatically and is also set for using HDMI at 720p. Terrestrial is scanned to Irish Saorview - Three Rock Transmitter

Don't forget to click the Thanks button below :)

Hey @ championc I notice the Sab image is not updated, can I use the new amiko image on my Sab?

  • Registered Users Posts: 707 ✭✭✭cork_south

Hi Champion, long term user of Hv4 here, just applied your image.

I see in the readme "This image uses the bundled OpenATV EPG."
My EPG is totally empty, its shows nothing for the saorview or UK channels.
Do I need to do something to get the EPG populated by the OpenATV EPG?

@how.hareth Yes, you can use on Sab or GM Triplex boxes

@Cork_south You need to run CrossEPG first

I am having an odd problem with OpenATV, everything is working fine till I record something. E.g I record CH4 HD and switch back to RTE the picture keeps breaking up, when I stop the recording the Picture goes blank, box hasn't hung or anything. I have to do a reboot to get the picture back. This has also happened to satellite CH

Has anyone else come across this?
I am getting the same thing now on Hyperion V4.5, Although I am using the same Metrix Skin so I might try another skin to rule that out.

Just switch from Hv4 to Champions latest OpenATV image and am having an identical issue.
If I record BBC1 for example, and switch off that channel they all come up as black screens with no sound.

I did not have this issue with Hv4, do you know of a workaround?

    Hi All
Just reflashed openATV 4.2 instead of my usual hyper4 on the AA2+
loaded the dreamboxedit channel list from hyper4 into openatv (works fine )
pretty much all sorted without any issues
Only thing I cant see an option for is
When in deep standby the power led on the front panel is green instead of red anyone know where to change this to red
    Many thanks
Is the standby ( power ) led green on everyones openATV just wonderind if there is something wiggy with just mine as when I go into setup and tell it no power led on standby the led is still on and still green
In Hyperion 4 the led is red in standby

I have it setup so that it does an immediate shutdown on long or short press of the remote

To add further confusion I was recording a programme and used the remote to switch off I seen the message that it would do a shut down when finished recording
I checked about an hour later and no led at all completley blank

I would like the led to be red in standby ( sad I know )
I did see some article on github about editing a setup.xml file but was not sure of where it is on openatv
anyone know if it can be done

Also if someone could confirm that the icons for USB an HD and stuff on the VFD ( they work in spark ) but dont work on openATV or Hyperion 4 the vFD is working and shows time and channel info and scrolling works but no smaller Icons that are present in spark
    Many thanks :-)

On openatv I found that crossepg used to get stuck downloading or even crash the box sometimes. Using xmltv now and find it much better except for a few channels missing data...

When moving from one image to another, Its best to delete the old crossepg files from your USB first.

I purposely added CrossEPG 0.6.2 rather than 0.8.1 due to downloading and updating issues

0.8.1 is a bit temperamental allright especially on Openatv due to its built in epg .

I often found that the epg doesnt load at startup on Openatv images on numerous receivers even with forced reload on boot selected .
Is this the case with the Alien 2 image ?

I think that CrossEPG is by far the best solution for consistent 7-day EPG's

With CCs OpenAtv 4.2 image, Unable to record Uk channels and watch Saorview channels, get black screen.

Tried manually rescanning for Saorview using Spur Hill frequencies and lost all Saorview channels.
Now unable to find any Saorview channels now via manual scan.
Automatic saorview scanning is Blue Screening the box every time.

Nice looking image but Saorview channels and being able to record while watching another channel are a must for me.

Back to trusty Hv4 I go.

Yes ,I meant Crossepg ,it doesnt load the epg on reboot alot of the time on Openatv ,despite force epg reload on boot being selected.
You have to manually reload it .

The epg built in on Openatv images controls CrossEpg ,but there seem to be a bit too many configuration options .
This is a bug on Openatv on alot of receivers,e.g. Dm800Hd ,is it an issue on the Alien 2 ?

Sly skin by abell, digidude and pauldb of sattvhelp
Mui4tler's audio fix to help with audio dropouts

FTP and Telnet - Username "root", Password "pkteam"
OSCam - http://box_ip:8888 - Username "root", Password "oscam"
    OpenWebIf - http://box_ip (Default Port 80)
    DreamBoxEdit paths - /etc/enigma2/

    How to use picons
Transfer the picon folder from the download over to your external harddrive (/hdd)
Then go to the pkt bluepanel and find skin setup. In there change picons location from Enigma to HDD. All picons should display then.

If your saorview picons are still not working you will need to rename each of your saorview picons to the correct service reference. These can be found by loading up your channel list in dreamboxedit and hovering over the chosen channel.

To be honest there's not much difference, I added a few newer updates to this and but other than that you probably won't notice any difference. .5 seems to have been a fairly small update.

    Just to clarify this,

There's two versions of Alien 2,

There's the triple tuner that's mentioned above, and the twin tuner, (no terrestrial tuner)

Then there's the + model, same gear, just different bits and pieces, one being the brighter display.
