cool flea market finds today. €25 all combined.
each from different sellers, oddly that's all they had too, no ps1 or megadrive system. just the one game :)
that c64 breadbin is a cool find though. been looking for one for a while

Absolute bargain if it works, get yourself a SDI2IEC and the world's your oyster (if you like blocky and brown).

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

    Absolute bargain.

Definitely. The keyboard or Game Boy alone make it a steal, everything together is phenomenal. Nice finds!

Dead right, I never get anything close to this kind of bargain.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

the gameboy and c64 come from two people I've establish a relationship with, they "often" get stuff like this for helping tearing down and scrapping businesses and homes due for renovations.
I've spent years establishing a good rapport with them from going to the markets every weekend, chatting and trading some stuff (and not arguing over prices :D ) so at this point I get a call or text the day before whenever they get stuff like this & if I'm interested they keep it aside for me.

I vaguely remember a friend of my brother who worked in a translation company saying they did work on videogames which may account for why the AoE manual was printed here.

Is there much to play on the Nuon other than what I hear is a somewhat middling version of Tempest?

It's a stunning edition of Tempest.
And no, there's nothing else worth playing on it.
With the release of TxK and the forthcoming Tempest 4k there's probably less reason to own Tempest 3k other than its superb.
But the price of entry is really really high now.
A working Nuon with the game and a controller will run at about €200+ .
I mean, I'd pay that but I'm not sure many others would.

Have to agree with Ciderman...Beside Tempest...Could play Iron Solider 3 but nothing else.

They are mostly just a niche collector item...

Probably should watch this space for a PSX so....

I absolutely love the design of the PSX. Very few people seem to know what it is. There's two on eBay for over €200, how much do they normally go for? Almost everything on eBay is buy it now with some overinflated price :(

Theyre also really annoying to Google as PSX generally refers to the PS1!

The few I've seen end on eBay usually went for about 130-150 GBP.

    So my BVM just arrived.

Looked in the box and surprised to see no bubble wrap whatsoever, Oisín did yours come with bubble wrap?

    XmLObjf.jpg

The only protection offered is these foam bumpers:

    k5NZQBh.jpg

So here's problem one, the front bezel is pushed forward meaning the power switch can't make contact with the button, so it's always switched on for now. Better than being switched off I suppose:

    LZ8L5tT.jpg

The plastic loops at the front were broken and just fell off the screws, not too worried about those really but still a poor job from whoever packed it.

    LHaQkKr.jpg

It does however seem to turn on and I can use the menu buttons and knobs fine, just not the power button.

    q7SVGu2.jpg

Oisín is there any built in colour bars pattern I can use to test it?
I have one of those RGB + composite sync to BNC cables on the way later today from parcel motel to test it with my mega drive and super Famicom. I just had the BVM shipped striaght to my door via UPS though.

I'm not sure whether to get a partial refund or send the thing back, guess it depends on how the test with consoles goes.

Eeek - does look to (just) be cosmetic damage. Have you tried to snap the front bezel back on with a bit of force?

There's no test pattern no, however the fact that it's powering on (is the image stable yeah?) I'd say it should be fine.

The main weak point on those monitors is the back cover. It's really brittle plastic. The one time I had one of them arrive broken the force was exerted on the back, breaking the back plastic cover and snapping the neck board. (so it was completely DOA)

I'd say contact them with those photos and try to get a partial refund. If it's powering on and works okay then definitely don't send it back.

We have video and sound via S-Video from the C64!

That's my best attempt at scan line porn from my phone!

Thanks for the reply Oisín, going to ask for a partial refund and also try and force the bezel back on before I put it up in the attic.

If the bezel snaps back on sure the only damage left will be the broken handles on the front - if anything they probably took some of the impact from whatever happened and helped save the tube. Remove them and it'll loop good as new :)

Picture quality looks class, those HR screens really are something else arent they?

They're amazing looking alright! I love how the tube has the same boom sound my 32" wide-screen Trinitron had when powering the set on. A sign of Sony quality! :P

I find I have the contrast cranked all the way up to get the most colourful picture, that's on whatever user settings for colour temperature. Haven't went balls deep into them yet.

Here's 2 more screens with the mega drive connected via RGB.

Maplins have a step down, just have to check how much power the PSX wants, so the converter can handle the draw, and not try and set my house on fire.
    I like my house untoasted.

Just wondering which step down you went for? And how have you found it?
It's been on the "to get" list for a while but with Maplin clearing their stores, there prob isn't a better to get one

Yep, any PVM/BVM I've had the contrast needed to be put up to 3/4 and beyond to get the colours looking correct.

Tend to have to toy around with contrast and brightness a little when switching between consoles too.

Your colours look really nice, I wouldn't be going near them at all. The only thing you might want to think of adjusting is the image placement on the screen so you can get a nice balance between the Snes and Megadrive and they're a bit off from each other.

Those are nice, might look into getting some for my Kallax unit.
I'd imagine getting the Switch in and out of the dock could be tricky there though!

^^ Where did you get those Dino? I often feel it's a huge waste of space displaying one console per shelf

    They're in Ikea. Aisle 2 Location 2!

Only come in grey, unfortunately. But if you mount them at the back they look okay.

The Switch will probably go live up top with the other contemporary consoles. It is an ugly little thing when docked though, isn't it?

Also got another Neo Geo controller delivered today:
