I just said ions, not sure if that is right or not though

    So did I! :)

Ions? I said electrical (impulse)

Some of my answers sound really silly looking back :o

    I said electrical!

    What was that.

My teacher showed up to console us after.
That was a joke. No respiration, photosynthesis or human reproductions long questions I had then perfected :(((

Well I don't think an electrical impulse is a particle :o

Ions are charged atoms, I'd say either electrons or ions will be accepted cos both are involved in charge carrying :P

Really? I said enzymes lol, I've never even heard of an ion. There goes my 5th long question.

Was the thing on the horse meat DNA profiling or DNA screening or what?

I said electrical too! Badly phrased question in my opinion :/

Did anyone get the short question about the protista/monera that eats small organisms or something like that?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭aleatorio

Was the thing on the horse meat DNA profiling or DNA screening or what?

I said profiling and described electrophoresis

i said profiling and went through restriction cutting separation and comparison but i doubt that was right.... DNA was awful

    3 FUNCTIONS OF CEREBRUM?
was I meant to know this? I only knew skeletal muscle contractions...

    movement co-ordination balance

    Amoeba :)

That was a beautiful paper so so happy :)

I wrote out profiling, then thought it was screening. Turns out it was profiling though. Said on the Irish Independent website. Just went against my definition and application of profiling. Gentic profiles are different for humans so how could they tell the difference between cattle and horses. That was my reasoning anyway.

Ions? I said electrical (impulse)

Some of my answers sound really silly looking back :o

"Name the type of particle whose movement in and out of neurons is an essential feature of nerve impulse transmission. "
I said "neurotransmitters or positive ions"

'in and out of neurons' implies that its neurotransmitters, but the next question is:
"One of the roles of the particles referred to in (i) is the activation of neurotransmitters."
so it cant really be neurotransmitters.

I hope wont loose marks for giving 2 answers.

BTW. what's the location of the brain parts?

You're thinking of the cerebellum? Or **** did I get that wrong, I thought it was thinking intelligence speech and muscular stuff

Edit just checked> it's the cerebellum you just defined not cerebreum

  • Registered Users Posts: 910 ✭✭✭little sis...

Genetic profiling is a method of genetic screening so I said genetically screen using DNA profiling and described that process.

thats what I said to..intelligence speech and muscular stuff basically,I had read it just before!I am dreading to check though :D

I thought the paper was alright, but what are they doing.. It was strange, like food not being q1, and ecology being the last question.. I think I did alright but questions weren't nice. Having done all past papers this really was one of the more horrible papers..

    Cattle have 60 chromosomes

    Horses have 64 chromosomes
This was some of my reasoning also.

Makes you wonder why we've been eating horse and nobody knew...

Genetic profiling is a method of genetic screening so I said genetically screen using DNA profiling and described that process.

Not quite, genetic screening requires the use of a probe and radioactive material to test for the prescence of a particular gene or altered gene, it's very different actually

The answer is charged particles called ions .

Neurotransmitters is wrong. It's not necessarily positive ions either .

What was the xy not being the same as the sex of cattle .
I was thinking hermaprohdites so I said humans . If anyone knows the answer it would be great . It's bugging me .
