Are Irish men the ugliest in the World?

We've been voted the ugliest in the World in a recent survey. We're down at the bottom of the barrel with Poland and the U.K apparently. Even China are ahead of us ffs!

I think its a load of manure anyway. We've plenty of good looking Irish men, Fassbender, Neeson, Colin Farrell and myself to name but a few

It's a made up statistic/story and it's been around for years. Expect it from the red-tops but surprised the Irish Times bothered with it.

According to my website, Irish men are the sexiest in the world (mainly because I bring the average up by so much)

I think Paddy does not look after himself as much as fellas from other countries.

Binge drinking, smoking, late nights, dont shave every day, sun starved pale white blue skin, bad fashion sense, not the best at dental hygiene etc can give the impression that the average Irishman does not look as good as he could.

By the way, it's bs to be honest. Irish men just put up photos of themselves that they had lying around. You should see the state of the lads from other countries, the ones held up as 'beautiful'. Professionally shot profile photos and designer suits that they clearly have spent big money on. Just to be accepted on to that bull**** site. You can't even talk to the other members unless you pay a poxy subscription.

I spent the last 9 months in Oz and was actually surprised by Irish men. They scrubbed up nicely compared to a lot of the Aussies. They're also better craic and have better manners I found. Aussies were fairly racist and a bit ignorant.

to be honest you can't say "irish men are the ugliest in the world" because they don't all look alike, some are good looking some aren't, but its the same everywhere,

Yes, but if you go to Papa New Guinea you will be a big ride.

They have to be the ugliest people I have come across, I could not believe it, made my eyes sore...and I have been to Cavan.

My first boyfriend was Irish Canadian so I am a bit biased perhaps but I think Irish men are pretty hot.

Dark, swarthy men from some of those mediterranean countries do nothing for me.

That thread is gas. The number of 7 -10 self-rated people is hilarious.

Apart from seeing yourself and others in terms of marks out of ten, usually people aren't very good judges of their attractiveness anyway.

The poll refers to looks only, and fair enough there are better looking countries out there than Ireland. The whole picture when you meet someone covers unquantified things like demeanour and humour, friendliness and approachability, so while Sweden might be home to Eric Skaarsgard lookalikes who make a girls jaw drop, it doesn't mean they're all more attractive, which is ultimately more important.

That said, Irish men are unique enough in their belief in their own attractiveness

Well I'm not surprised. A happy, well-adjusted, mischievous fellow is likely to be quite entertaining and therefore likely to get the young ladies' bodices heaving. Wouldn't anyone be quite gay after a snifter of Courvoisier at the opera??

Only 1 in 10 people are considered good looking from a pool of people who are not having much success in the dating department.

I'm not saying only ugly people use online dating, just pointing out that the pool of people was hardly a random selection of Irish lads.

What's "very short" out of interest ? I wouldn't consider myself short at 5'10 but wouldn't consider myself any bigger than most other men either.
