Confirmed by Triple H and Dave Meltzer. At first I thought Triple H's account was hacked or something because this came out of nowhere, but Meltzer has confirmed it as well.

    Can't believe it.

He was my favourite wrestler during my first time watching Wrestling, I must have been 6 or 7 at the time. Read various things about him since but it's great that he got honoured just before he died.

At 54, he's another young death to add to the long list. :(

Rest In Peace, and thoughts with his family.

Tragic news. James Hellwig has passed away as per WWE.com. Absolutely shocking news seeing as he appeared in perfect health on Raw on Monday. Good that he got to go out as a Hall of Famer.

Sorry about that did not see your first link on your first post.

I'm just glad he was around to get inductee in the HOF.

    RIP.

Sorry again got posters mixed up. I'm still trying to take it all in.

I remember him knocking seven bells out of the Honky Tonk Man for the IC title at summer slam 88.

Another one from the golden era that leaves for parts unknown. RIP.

Didn't think he looked well over the weekend, he appeared to have difficulty walking like he had a limp. Pretty shocked though, so sad.

I'm shocked. It's no consolation but I'm glad he was able to right the memory of his WWF career and bury the hatchet with Vince. Sad to hear it. RIP Warrior.

9:52 PM PT -- Officials tell TMZ ... Warrior collapsed outside an Arizona hotel at 5:50 PM on April 8th ... while walking to his car with his wife.

Warrior was transported to a nearby hospital ... where he was pronounced dead

These tweets by Iron Sheikh made me smile:

ULTIMATE WARRIOR I LOVE YOU FOREVER #RIPULIMATEWARRIOR http://t.co/qMWO05ktJO

Break my heart. I love you forever #RIPUltimateWarrior

Not that Sheikh was being 100% serious with all those insults over the years but it goes to show how silly all these real life wrestling feuds are. I'm sure the likes of HHH, Vince and Hogan are relieved they buried the hatchet just before he passed away.

Legend of a man - didnt look great in the above video to be fair, possibly knew he was on the way out? Considering he went on about the final heart beat and final breath!

    My favourite of all time

    RIP

Guess he had the last laugh at WWE by being inducted before heading back to his home planet.

Anyone who says he looked healthy.... He was beat red and looked like he had really high blood pressure.

In complete shock here. Its like something out of a wrestling storyline gone wrong, i.e. Warrior passes two days after his induction.

To the only wrestler I ever wanted to be as a kid. To the man who made me grab thin air for energy when fake wrestling with friends. To the man who gave me my happiest Mania moment.

    Thank you Warrior.

Including Taker's loss this will go down as the most surreal 3 days ever in wrestling's history.

The timing is what makes this so weird. Had it been six months either way it wouldn't be as big a shock but he seemed fairly okay on Monday night. Not perfect, but not bad enough to think he would drop dead a couple of days later.

Glad he got the HoF before going back to his own planet.

    RIP Warrior.

This is just too creepy. As others said great he got to go HOF and make ammends before he died but he was on RAW just over a day ago FFS. Mental stuff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,315 ✭✭✭Soft Falling Rain

This is freakish. As others have said, glad that a few wrongs got righted in the end.

One thing that struck me watching the HOF was how proud his kids looked and they were beaming throughout. They were not ashamed to have the surname Warrior. Christ. :(

Photo taken a few hours before he collapsed apparently. Possibly the last ever photo of him.

Jesus. Sunday morning, I was watching him at the HoF. Monday morning at Mania.

Tuesday morning, he makes his first Raw appearance in 16 years, and cuts a fantastic promo thanking the fans.

Wednesday morning, he's dead. Was waking up slowly, listening to the Review a Wai guys talk about him...and see that news.

What a few days he must have had. Can't believe the timing of it all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,713 ✭✭✭Cianan2

I'm in shock. So happy to see my childhood favourite get honoured finally this weekend. Such a fantastic thing that he got to bury the hatchet.

I hated hearing about how he'd fallen out with everyone and went a bit nuts. I found this video one day, and always go back to it. Really inspiring words when you think at all about that ugly Mr Resistance

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,089 ✭✭✭✭rovert

    Why would they do that??

Probably out of respect for the family.

There's a slight chance they were going to take it down for music rights reasons and re-edit it then put it back up.

    RIP.

Was half awake when I read a tweet about this. It woke me up and got me logged on to read the story.

Real shock especially so soon after seeing him liking so happy. I guess that's one positive thing, that he managed to put an end to the negative image of him and bury the hatchet with so many.

    RIP Warrior!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 346 ✭✭HooohRaaah

    RIP Warrior.

One of the greatest ever names in wrestling. Even people who don't know anything about wrestling will know who the Ultimate Warrior is. That says it all about him.
So sad to hear about this and for it to happen just before the weekend he has just had is shocking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,949 ✭✭✭A Primal Nut

Apparently Cena did some impersonations of the Warrior on the Smackdown recording so that will have to be edited out I suppose.

But the Hall of Fame is a strange one. I'm pretty sure he'd be happy to be remembered for the Hall of Fame considering everything else that has gone on. Seems like it would be respectful to keep it up there. Maybe they are just editing in an "In Memory Of" graphic or something.

Just remembering at the Hall of Fame, him coming out with his two daughters (as opposed to everyone else coming out with divas) and how proud they and his wife were of him; and vice versa. Really sad that they lost a husband and father.

In a way though, I couldn't think of a nicer time to pass than after having a weekend of people telling you how much of a positive impact you've had on them and how much you meant to them in their formative years.

    RIP
