Well done B, fantastic time. You were definitely the most relaxed runner I have seen at the start of a race, well maybe with the exception of a certain Mr Somba. Congrats on the PB, surely there is a 10k PB that needs to be revisited.

Average enough time for a lad that's just back from a pretend family holiday when you were really on a 2 week altitude training camp!

Well [theres something caught in my throat] done :)

Well done, man. That's some going!
I had lofty ambitions to match your 18:40 pb this summer. I can forget about that now. You should smash it in Mullingar.:)

Only spotted this now tang, well done. That time is sub 3 indicator I'd say but just a great time in its own right too. You have really kicked it on since .Rotterdam, unlike myself. Keep it going now sub 18 isn't out of reach for you and soon, Well done.

Thanks for all the well wishes folks, all much appreciated. To be honest on reflection i am a bit ahead of where i thought i may be regarding the 5k time, i had pinpointed the Athboy 5k for a shot at sub 18.30. That has now changed to getting close to 18mins.

    Saturday 24.6.16

    4.15 miles Easy@9.23min/mile in 38min 54secs

The legs certainly knew they had run a hard race the evening before, they were very sore starting out on this. Kept the first 2 miles to the GAA pitch and the grass and remainder on the road. Legs had come to life a small bit by the time i was done.

    Sunday 25.6.16

    12 miles Easy@9.07min/mile in 1hr 49min 35secs

Legs feeling better for this, while not fully back to themselves they were a damn sight better than day before. Enjoyable run this around local roads.

Just over 41miles for the week, all easy running apart from the 5k. I'll take that any week thank you very much:P:P

    Monday 27.6.16

    7.05 miles Easy@9.04min/mile in 63min 54secs

Another easy trot around one of my local routes, feeling a bit of PF coming on in the feet. Waking in the morning this past while and feet are in bits first thing, being somebody who suffered with it before i shouldn't have let it get this far:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Tuesday 28.6.16

Rest, PF at me more so. Spent as much of the day as i could rolling the feet with a tennis ball.

    Wednesday 29.6.16

Rest, distinct improvement in the feet, still rolling with the tennis ball. No window to run as herself got caught at work.

    Thursday 30.6.16

    2 mile w/u, 3x8mins@6.30-6.40 off 2.30 recovery, 2mile c/d

I was due and it happened today, BIG FAT FAIL on this, the warm up was fine. Started the session and by 0.25 of a mile in i knew it would be tough, by 0.50 of a mile i had to step off the road and try catch my breath, i thought i was going to start hyperventilating. Tried composing myself and started back at it, got further up the road and my legs started to feel weak and nearly gave way. Pulled the plug there and then, i knew my goose was cooked and there was no point flogging myself, it would have done more harm than good i felt.

Ran the rest at easy pace and hacking up big lumps of white phlegm, run was 8miles@8.48min/mile in the end, not what i wanted but as i said i was due. PF felt fine on this, maybe coming down with something.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, have a rest, it'll do you good, oh and mind that foot :)

    Friday 1.7.16

    7 miles Easy@9.02min/miles in 63min 17secs

This proved every bit as tough as the day before, I probably shouldn't have continued as I wasn't feeling good from a mile in but thickness prevailed as I thought I could run through it, didn't happen.

That's it for my weeks running, I went for a walk round town in work yesterday and was out of breath and sweating even doing that. Went home and cleaned the cars out and was wrecked after it, nearly fell asleep on the couch after??!! Somethings not right somewhere as I feel fine generally but and wrecked and out of breath if I do anything physical. Off to Doctors in the morning to have bloods done to see if that shows anything untoward.

My ankles are killing me to, especially in the morning when I first step out of bed, managing the PF with rolling it and hopefully that will sort that issue out, it has in the past. Maybe I just need a few days rest!!!

Enjoy the rest, B, hopefully nothing too serious.

Great performance in kilcock B. Hope all you need is a few days rest to get you over this little hump.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,140 ✭✭✭snailsong

Take it easy, B. There's sure to be a reason for the dip. Get yourself sorted and you'll be flying again before long.

Just catching up here. Some great running going on......glad I didn't offer to step in for TbL to defend the honour of the Auldfellas. Nice going in Kilcock.

Hope a couple of days rest does the job for you and you are back on the road to your sub 18 in no time. Take it handy!!

Catching up here... No surprise there, I'm always well behind on logs :( Congrats on the PB the other night! Fair play.

Hope you are feeling better soon, B. Sounds like arthritis but sure you're too young for that :p

I thought I may have caught leprosy off TbL initially but seeing as I haven't had a date with him in a while I can't blame this on him!!!

Hey Barry :D Hope you got the feet sorted. Are you doing Mullingar tomorrow?

Hey Barry :D Hope you got the feet sorted. Are you doing Mullingar tomorrow?

Feet are hopefully sorted Kate, over two weeks of no running but not from that, have septic throat/chest infection for little over a week so Mullingar is out the window I'm afraid. You running it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,386 ✭✭✭career move

Aw shoot sorry to hear that. A few people I know are suffering from the same. I guess all the damp humid weather doesn't help. Hope it clears up soon for you! No I'm not running much lately. 30 days to ITERA so mainly biking and kayaking :D

Was wondering about your illness alright. No harm in having a little break after your recent heroics. Hope you're back in action soon all the same.
