If you don't have one already get a trickle charger while you're at it. If you're not using the bike at the moment price a battery online, you'll get it cheaper.

Hhhmmm just seen this as I was about to go to Halfords, somewhere like fc-moto is it?

I spent a day on an S1000RR recently and ended up in pain for 3 days. Couldn't wait to give it back. My missus laughed at me all week :o

Swap your gaff for a 1983 2CV (non runner) and a Ford Escort up on blocks?

    Full licence obtained :)
    Lovely early Xmas present.

This is one of those Good News, Bad News posts...

Came home after a night shift to find my bike gone. Reported it to the cops, it had been recovered after being used for a burglary.

Won't get to check it before the 27th, but apparently its intact save for the ignition.

Never had anything like this happen, so still a bit unsure how to feel. And 27 hours awake isn't helping.

What kind of Burglar uses a motorcycle?
    Anyway, sorry to hear that.
Hope it works out for you.

Seen it on the stolen motorcycles Ireland Facebook page a few days ago, a BMW 600 or something. I’ve only started following it recently, but Jesus Christ dumping someone’s pride and joy in the river is upsetting enough on top of it being stolen in that the bike is no more good. Another bloke had his scooter robbed and a photo appeared of that in water as well.

Any bike is the same as any other. 12V. 6V bikes (like my first one!) are long gone. Most car chargers are OK provided the minimum amp-hour stated isn't too high, almost all bikes are at least 12 amp-hour so a charge rate in the region of 1 - 1.5 A is fine.

In short: the answer is yes, but since my own charger went I'm holding out for a Lidl or Aldi €20 charger which should be along within a few weeks

    Life ain't always empty.

Thank you. Wasn't too sure and said i'd ask just in case. Had a heart stopping moment earlier, went to start the bike and barely any life in it, took 3 to 4 attempts for it to fire back into life.

I take it the Lidl/Aldi chargers are just as good? Many people don't like their products, such as tools etc.

Just a couple of things to note.
Neither of these will charge a flat battery.
So better for maintaining a healthy battery.
The Lidl one just comes with crocodile clips whereas the Oxford one will come with a few different connecting options.
So handier as it's just plug and play.

    Big time.
Looks like there's not much damage... Mirrors and headlight need replacing, wiring for ignition needs looking at, dent in the tank... But hopefully that's it.

About €60 for a new battery, will get it done next week if the existing one holds out until then.

Should i get the oximiser anyway?

    It's up to you really.
I have both but use the Oximiser mostly.
I have bought extra cables for other bikes and even bought just the connecters on eBay and made my own charging cables.

Both chargers are similar in what they do.
Can't comment on the longevity of the Lidl one though but I have the Oxford a good few years now and no issues.

I don't have them on on the bikes constantly, about once a week I put a bike on them and works fine.
I have 2 bikes that I only take out in summertime and no problems with flat batteries.

Probably get the oximiser for the scooter which is rarely used, as for the DL i'll just go with a battery change based on the below photo, it might well be an original battery.

Oxford seems like a trusted brand across the board, Lidl products aren't the same.

Was it straight forward to make your own with the eBay stuff?
