Looking at sky news in work, and given the fact they have only picked up how bad this is getting in the last half hour shows this seems to have caught most by surprise. A lot of south west UK was in massive trouble with flooding already so if they thought it would be this bad earlier they would have flagged it.

Very few cars traveling the ring of Kerry. Seems like people have listened to the warnings. Some delivery vans and the like passing my place, looking fairly lost, which can be used as a detour around the main ring of kerry route so I'm assuming there's a tree down on the main road

Highest winds for Cork City 2pm i think.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

The sustained wind of 51 knots at Valentia at 12pm has broken the all time February record of 49 knots. 58 knots is the overall record, that was set in Sept 1961.

September 1961 is a benchmark for many stations still. Phenomenal storm that was, or I imagine ;)

Can anyone give a prediction of what will happen around the Westport area. Dead calm here now and from the graphs seems we will be at the centre of the storm, until it starts to move up and then it swirls around. Is that worse or better than the full blast that Kerry is getting?
