Nearly 10,000 without power in dunmanway!

There were still lots of people without power up to a week after the 1997 storm. ESB had to survey the damage to lines with hired helicopters.

picking up again here in western suburbs Cork, some very strong gusts now but dry. A roof came off in one of the school buildings in Bishopstown https://twitter.com/lensdan/status/433566929144778752/photo/1
A tree looks like it's coming down in our garden, moved the car so hopefully it won't hit anything. the one next to it looks a bit dodgy for the neighbour's roof if the wind keeps picking up. I have to head to work in about two hours, not looking forward to it.

There is a strong howl of wind going through the beach road in Sandymount from around 11am this morning to now although it is nice and bright at the moment.

I'd think that the strong wind and gusts will probably peak at force 9 in Dublin at around 4pm.

A lorry has just blown over on the M8 at the Fermoy bridge in the northbound carriageway.
    Traffic is still getting through.

    Where did you see that?

On the airport website they had 56kts in the half 9 reports and only 49 kts in 10 am reports. Biggest published so far is 63 kts in the half 11 report.

Biggest Met Eireann up to 11 am reports is 73 kts at Roches Point in the 9 am reports.
