Nothin special, 318is 1.9 petrol manual.
    Only cost me 500 quid.
She's a bit rough around the edges but nothing major, certainly nothing a good service won't solve.

Plan is to drive her daily and take the carina off the road till I can get all the jobs done on her done. (Rocker cover, new "fun" exhaust, some trim/panels etc)

Seen my first Subaru brz today brand new and 4 cars down from it in traffic a 2014 red Toyota 86.
Are the engines the same cuz there's feck all difference in the looks of them.

Do you not drive the superb at all or are you selling that. The e36 sounds like a good buy can't really go wrong for 500 quid.

Nah the superb was just to sell on as I reckoned it is an easier sell than a 3.0 on CC tax. I hate it, it is what is wrong with Irish motoring.
100 BHP, paddy spec - uber boggo spec. No character.

But it is what people want, diesel, new plates and cheap tax.

It's 105 bhp the extra 5 makes all the difference :pac: tbh it was always going to be a let down coming from a 535d but as you said yourself it will be a far easier sale and that's what you want.

So after just under a week and a full tank of fuel, the saab uses fuel similar to the astra ironically enough, drove the same, didn't stick around and i've just under a quarter of a tank to get me about tomorrow, which would be the same in the astra, so that's my little report back!

came home today and found that the mother got me that vortex set thing in lidl, so it was a nice surprise :)

I'm never in the mobile version anyway I prefer desktop version. I just went into settings so now I can see everyone's sigs. I was wondering what was the point of them if I couldn't see them :)

    Oh dear :p

Shurre his cousin had two of them but with the cosworth engine.

The 4wd is troublesome in them though apparently.

Better watch out for that :p

I think they do as it's a much better option compared to spray painting.

That colour is brilliant silver. There's another silver which is kind of "whiter" if you know what I mean and it's called sports silver. WOn't be making my mind up fully though until I see the colours in person.

If it's of any help I bought a Leon a few years ago and there was a couple of scuffs on the wheels so got them redone. I went for a whiter shade of silver then and it made a world of difference to the look of them. Really caught the light. What the guy that did it used was VW reflex silver (same as any number of Golf's or Passats) and mixed in a little bit of white to it. A neighbour had a similar car at the time and the lighter wheels looked so much better and since you always keep your clean then all the better.

Did you tell him it's great on it, in fact you never have to put a drop in, it just keeps going without the Derve. :D

Miser on it but a whore to go is what I muttered as I sheepishly shuffled over to head to work

Yeah there's a lot of things to consider which is why I won't be making my mind up until I see the colours in person.

Also, did you get yours resprayed or powdercoated? There can be a noticeable difference in the finishes of both.

Got them sprayed, lasted 4 years and 120k relatively blemish free. One small flake cane off and one mark from tyre fitters!

I did make it crystal clear that I was in no hurry for the car back and wanted a perfect job which I got.

No more M3 insurance for 21 year olds.

Not quite. They are currently looking for a new backer in Ireland. I believe QuoteMe has just purchased referrals, for the time being !!

So what is she like on diesel young man, good to see you bought a nice sensible 1.6 for the cheep tax....

Corolla diesel outside - slight misfire/missing on cold start up for a short period - likes a smoke too from cold start up.

misfire/missing disappears quickly - and when it warms up the smoke is gone too.

Misfire/missing (hard to describe which) goes away a lot quicker if you repeat the glowplug cycle 7 or 8 times (as in if I just do the glowplug cycle once it could run for 3/4 minutes like that - gone in 30 seconds or less if I keep repeating glowplug cycle before firing up.

Does tha latter aspect mean glowplug fault???.

Will get glowplugs fixed if that's the issue - otherwise will just learn to live with it (unless its going to do long term harm - can't see how - and if it does - it will just get scrapped anyway).

Will need a 60,000 mile service - timing belt/waterpump and whatever other stuff a 60 k service on a 99 Corolla needs - on the basis of time.

its been suggested to me that I could just not bother with the timing belt etc - on the basis that if it goes bang just throw it away.

Hmmm - frankly im not overly bothered about the engine going bang - id be more worried about the fact that if it goes bang on the move id have no power steering/servo on the breaks.

Probably worth getting it done to avoid that risk imo.

Changing the thing is of course another option - but it never goes wrong (fault above excluded - which is more of an annoying problem then a genuine stopping the car issue)

    Decisions decisions

    Thanks guys

Cheers, but one of the few things that are working correctly are the fog lamps!
Do you have any other e36 parts?

I get the feeling I'll be needing more. :D

Fraid not, just a lonely foglamp.

Been driving the Seicento a lot of the day to get the brakes to bed in and iron out any more faults. If you saw a blue Seicento milling the road out of it in the general Slane area on the closed N51, that was probably not me :pac:

This made me lol. Navan logic strikes again!

Approaching the N road. What's the limit?
    Image1163.jpg

What's the limit of the road I was on that was barely wider than the car?
    Image1164.jpg

Never cease to produce fail :pac:
