Thats like what the church used to do years ago, when they were collecting money they would name out everyones name in the parish and say how much they paid and those who didn't were shamed.

You know what we did with the church yeah? :D

Allowed them to ride the youth of the country?

i hope that everyone one of these muppets that wont pay the tax be named and shamed publicly into a stone tablet to be left in the city center for generations to come to shame their offspring, utter fools of the highest order. they are gonna get their cash off you full stop, huffing and puffing isnt going to work, if labour arent their to support the socialist bottom feeders, who will? SF - ha

    Wow!

Just on water charges alone - a man was appointed to run the water company or some such thing and he is due to be awarded a pay packet from the state of 400,000 a year.

I thought this state had a spending problem. Does it not? So bad as to:
    - cut some social welfare payments eg those on disability
    - cut services
    - introduce new taxes and charges

But clearly not bad enough to award 1 man an income of 400,000 euro a year.

That is just mocking so much people.

There are so much abuses coming from the top here in this country.

You're paying into a system of greed at the top

More diversion tactics. Keep us focused on the bondholders and the banks while the PS continues to bleed us dry with increments and gold plated pensions.

Nice try but we can see past the smokescreen.

So 3.1 billion paid out every few months AND STILL BEING PAID OUT to a bunch of gamblers is a "smokscreen".

You dont have any problem with that massive amount of money leaving the country all the time, when it could be used for domestic economy and the PEOPLE OF IRELAND????

Now where have i seen a thread like this before.....? Oh yeah, right here in after hours! This has been done to death multiple times and always ends up getting locked.

OP, RTE aren't the only source of info out there, I'm sure there is some government/revenue website you can look up to see the numbers of people who have paid.

didnt call anyone of specific a muppet, just tax dodgers as a whole tbh. I don't moderate here, and i dont need to have a neutral 'stance' i'm not 'rte'

to be honest, its after hours... i assume you posted here to get the "crazies" to rally behind your opinion, if you wanted to discuss this rationally, go to politics, although i fear you wont get as much support from the rational... but then again, wheres the fun in that

Not to mention the effing lies the td's spew out!!! Phil on the radio late last week, saying January ONE 2014 is CERTAINLY the date for implementation for the water charge. THREE days later the bould EG says it most certainly WON'T be January 1 2014. FFS, their left hand doesn't know what their right hand is doing!!!

Why all the shouting? Can you not be a bit more civilised? Or is this one of the socialist / SF tactics of shouting everyone else down?

All of those unpaid €100 household charges are automatically converted to a €200 local property tax.

They'll all be paying it. The only question is how much interest and penalties will they pay on top.

WRONG!!! Up to April 30th, the charge is only €130. Please get your facts right before making incorrect statements.

Have you been on the wrong side of Revenue before?

You ask like revenue are a headmaster or something???

Their are currently BILLIONS outstanding to them, some by high flying individuals.......

But this being Ireland and all, they're much more interested in the humble homeowner...... The one who can least afford to fight them.

The sheriff came back when the owner had gone out and simply changed the locks.

I am not pushed about the debate on the LPT. I think we need a LPT, but not simply for making up the shortfall as we continue to pay crazy sums of money to traitors and bankers.

My post was merely to show that that house was indeed repossessed. The original video got huge coverage and everyone knew about it, but it seems most don't realise all it actually did was delay the repossession by a week.

Absolute rubbish. LL's will factor the LPT into the rent rate. So you can bet most of the LL's, if not all, will pay the LPT on the rental properties to be fully compliant with revenue. Then incorporate it into the rents. This is already done with building insurance, bin services, management fee, nppr and so forth.

It's standard unless the LL is an amateur or has no mortgage on the property so the rent already covers the above whilst giving them a profit.

"Im not of a mind to pay it"

What the hell does that mean?

That was a future metered water charge she was talking about (here at 1 min 40). Talk about obfuscation!

    http://www.rte.ie/news/morningireland/player.html?20130408,20183928,20183928,flash,232

I wanted him to ask her if she had paid the HHC yet. I would say she is minded to pay that now and the LPT since she won't be able to get a tax clearance cert to stand as a TD if she doesn't. An unpaid metered water charge probably wouldn't have the same consequence, it would be more like an unpaid ESB bill.

I don't hear much from her friends in the North on Radio Ulster saying they are not minded to pay their taxes. The SF DUP coalition will soon enough be put in a position where they have to introduce water charges like the ones in England. So we will she how they justify that.

It gets converted to a €200 property tax in about 10 weeks.
From 1 July 2013, any outstanding Household Charge will be increased to €200 and
added to the Local Property Tax due on the property. In effect, the arrears of
the Household Charge will be converted into LPT and collected through the LPT
system. Revenue will pursue this additional liability when the LPT system is
fully operational. Interest and penalties under the LPT system will apply to the
    additional €200.

You should pay the original €100 plus the €30 penalty to avoid this.

Interesting fact, from 1776 to 1913, except for brief periods of war, the US was funded with just customs and excise taxes and the founding fathers left income tax out of the constitution. There was an income tax to fund the war of 1812 but that was stopped in 1817.

The first tax as we know it came in 1913, also the year the federal reserve act was signed.

Since comming to power....has Enda Kenny ever commented on his mid 1990s speech over people not paying a property tax,and now demanding that we all pay a property tax.

And I dont mean the usual wandering off coarse bullsh!t.

Has he ever commented on why he said that we should not pay a tax......back in the 90s????

Bar changin the locks, that sounds like something a common robber would do tbh..

Most 'Common scumbags' I've ever heard stories about always "went back after the owners left the gaff".

    True bill.
