Richard, have they covered a fair bit in Limerick? Is there a good bit more to do? How long did it take them to get in a cabinet installed after putting down a plinth? Do you think they are progressing quite quickly? How long have they been working in Limerick that you have seen?

Dunno how much KN have covered, i've seen a dozen cabs that have no VDSL beside them, i'd say there is still a good bit to do still. I've really not covered that much of the city, i did the Caherdavin area today....but to visit every estate and avenue would be.....

Its not a comprehensive street by street search, i just walk around....so i've probably missed cabs here and there.

If they were deleted it was probably due to having duplicates there, if there is none there then maybe it wasn't added to the map correctly, add again and see what happens.

Eircom vans all over Mayfield on northside of Cork city. New cabinet has been added near Shamrock Grove. More work going on near the junction of Banduff Road and Barnvara and further down the hill.

I was chatting with the KN network peeps. They were carrying out the ducting just past Shoreline gym & swimming pool. They seem to be putting in a few cabinets around town even though the ducting is only going in now. Is that way they usually go about it?

Anybody know how long it takes for cabinets to go in after the plinth has gone down? The chap I spoke to didn't really know these details. I wonder how long it'll take them to do the ducting and cabinet installation. :S

I've added a few photos for the Greystones/Bray area. I spotted two new cabs:

    -Southern Cross Business Park
    -Burnaby Mill/Greystones Lawn Tennis Club

I'll add more photos for any other cabinets being installed such as the Rathdown Park cabinet and Rathdown Lawn.

I would assume that the cabs are ready to go when the concrete has dried and they have them to install.

Well that's the thing. The concrete has dried (been like that since Friday) and the engineer told me that the cabinets are in Dublin. So I wonder what the wait up is?

i think i seen spongebob say that they get a certain amount shipped in every now and then, they might have to be setup in by techs before they get shipped to the locations.

I know that in my area 3 working days after plinth was layed, the cabs were put in.

A lot of the time they wait for a few plint's to be ready in an area,I think the truck's hold's 12 at a time, but usually it's within 3 day's,as it complete's and make's safe the cab site. They can also do one off's for safety purpose's , traffic etc.

Hi guys I spoke with an Eircom representative last Month about upgrading to Fiber powered Broadband earlier last month, she told me it would be coming available next month (this current month)in my area (Baltinglass,Co Wicklow). However she was unsure of any exact date this month.Does anyone have any further information on this or am I stuck with a max of 7mb down(which is usually 6mbs).I use my net predominantly for playing games like battlefield 3 online, which requires a fast connection. Many thanks in advance

I think they're going to have to add 'fresh cabs' in a lot of those areas because there doesn't appear to be any sign of any existing cabs at all, even though there's quite dense housing.

It's like everything was done in underground vaults.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 252 ✭✭10belowzero

In a lot of older area's , cables are direct to a dp(distribution point) either underground (u.g)or overhead (o/h),so their was no cab needed , every dp had a designated ammout of circuit's.What they do now is to put both cab's on the most effective site along the route of the direct main cable, hence you see both new cab's appear where there was none before.
