I have to go to IKEA next week, I have broken every cereal bowl we owned as well as my lovely hand-painted salad bowl :(

I love IKEA, we furnished our apartment with stuff from there, so reasonable. But I do like to go early before it gets completely mental.

Monday morning in Ikea ftw! That's when we always go, no people, no children, just us and things :D

I have to say, I am a big fan of things.

I've been considering veering into the Human Resources field. Does anyone know much about the day-to-day aspect of HR jobs? Am I mad?

Any idea what part of HR? Recruitment, performance management, people management?

    I joined a gym.

IKEA is an extravaganza of baffling ordeals where dreams go to die.

Has your sickness been coming on slowly or did it just hit you? It sounds similar to the symptoms I had before being diagnosed with a B12 deficiency.

(Massive coincidence if it turns out to be that coz I just mentioned it recently)

I actually read your post about that and went and googled it! I've been looking up different things. I was also thinking it could be an iron deficiency or something.

Well it has only become bad since last weekend, purely because it's not going away. I've had dizzy spells before and felt faint but never like this where it doesn't go away after a few hours.

Thanks for all the help btw :)

    Happy birthday cena. :)

Hope you feel better soon kate.m :)

Bought a lovely watch in the charity shop for €2 and I'm chuffed! :D

Bf is coming down for the weekend too and he's coming walking with me. I've been doing really well with eating better and exercise. I'm still unfit but I'm taking steps in the right direction. :D

Last day in my current job today after four years. Was a bit emotional saying good bye to everyone. But they were the best, an I got fab presents. And they brought me out for a fan Chinese at lunch.
So getting the hair cut now which is making a bit nervous, as it is a hairdresser I've never been to before.
And then drinks tonight with the work crew for my leaving do.

    doing his job
under 25 is a bit harsh for a policy though

I don't know enough about it to say for sure, which is why I'm looking for info. For reasons unknown, the idea of employee relations and conflict resolution appeals to me though. Think I might just be a glutton for punishment :o

I'm normally pretty touchy about it but I had to laugh this time - maybe I am getting used to it :p

That's a difficult enough area to get into.

You'd need to start in general HR and work your way up.
Generally you'd have to work towards a specialist qualification for that area too.

Wouldn't have expected to jump straight into it.

Ah sorry didn't mean to imply you did.

The people I know who worked in that area were all in big companies, there is also the Labour Relations Commission etc

Depending on the company they tended to spend a lot of time advising managers on how to deal with issues, where the companies were unionised they were involved in that area.

I sometimes still get asked for ID for alcohol. Thinking of heading out to pick up some wine, I'll just bring my passport with me, save the hassle. Though I never get asked when I actually think to bring it.

I NEVER get ID'ed. EVER. I would hug and kiss someone if they ID'ed me.

If it's Tesco you're heading to I'm pretty their policy is garda age card only. Head over to the consumer issues forum, there's always people ranting about their policy there. I'm pretty sure it's garda age card only though.

WHAT A DAY! Home, pizza on the way and having a beverage. I'm aching all over with my various ailments so I just need something that won't make me cry my eyes out.

How is everybody? Any plans for the weekend?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,331 ✭✭✭Ilyana 2.0

I think Tesco will take passports too. My bf often used to get caught out in Tesco as he only ever uses his licence as ID. He's 26 and always gets IDed; I'm 21 and I've been IDed maybe three times in the last six months :pac:

    I'm always ID'd coz I'm short. I've been told I look like a teenager and I'm 24.
