From the ICABS website August 2015

he Irish Council Against Blood Sports has thanked Easons for responding positively to our appeal and acting to move graphic hunting publications out of the reach of children.

In an email to ICABS, Easons Head of Marketing, Brendan Corbett stated: "We are currently in the process of moving such titles from our bottom shelves to shelving at a height out of reach for children. We will also set up a prompt at our cash registers that ask anyone purchasing such titles whether they are over 18 (as per anyone purchasing cigarettes)."

A big thumbs up to Easons for this tremendous response.

losing the plot a bit...We are about to be lunched on by aliens

    http://www.independent.ie/opinion/letters/blames-rich-states-31541885.html

ir - Brendan O' Connor (Sunday Independent, 13 September) writes in jest of the kind of message he might send into outer space to be received by aliens. I have long been of the view that we shouldn't be advertising our existence to other parts of the vast unknown universe. What if we draw the attention of an advanced civilisation that happens to be carnivorous and that might conceivably, having paid us a visit, acquire a taste for human flesh?

Schools may invite visitors to support the work of the curriculum where appropriate.

My Department has issued best practice guidelines to schools which include specific guidance relating to the role of any visitors in supporting the implementation of the Social Personal and Health Education (SPHE) programme. These guidelines require that visits are carefully planned with the relevant school personnel, and that the content of talks/programmes by outside facilitators are consistent with school policies, and with the SPHE programme.

It is a matter for each school authority to decide on the suitability of any proposed visitors and to determine the suitability of the support materials and resources to be used.

He is just named as an animal rights protester but someone explain the frame of mind of someone that kills one animal to "save" another when it's a daily occurrence and how nature works.

Can police decide what is/isn't a crime? Surely a Judge and/or jury decide guilt/innocence/punishment etc?

Not in the UK anymore apprently.Where police can decide what constitutes "hate speech" on the internet.

Case in the UK where a hunt was prosecuted for illegal hunting and then that decision overturned on appeal after it was discovered the prosecution failed to disclose evidence (photographic) that would clear the defendants of all charges.

The judge awarded all costs against the CPS.

Not sure if this should go here or in the Off Topic thread, but the last paragraph of the article makes me think here is better. Seems this might not be an isolated incident and the theory is in some cases anti hunting groups are used in these cases and in other cases its suspected that anti hunting groups/persons are the key to the entire case.

We have all seen doctored photos and exaggerated claims made by the terrorist and anti hunting groups so it wouldn't surprise me if the same happens here. Even if a person is not found guilty the stress and cost of such a case could bankrupt some.

    Full article here.

Yup..This is where knowing legal procedure and handling of photographic /video evidence is utterly vital if you are going to be an amatuer sleuth cum vigilante group.Am just surprised it has taken so long in the UK for the judicary to question these groups evidence gathering procedures and that any judge or police force hasnt dismissed it out of hand as tainted and biased.Espcially as it is submitted and taken by one aggrevied party with an agenda.

It's one thing using the likes of automated recording CCTV footage from a fixed camera which is the result of essentially passive overt surveillance.

Using footage and images allegedly made at a certain time at a certain location by a politically and emotionally motivated person and then introduce them in evidence is very risky ground. You couldn't do it without seizing the recording equipment for forensic verification, recording a comprehensive witness statement giving details on the where and how of the footage and the integrity of the data. And above all not without giving the person who allegedly made the footage an absolute grilling in the box.

    Not about ICABS, but PETA.

Some may know some or all of this already, but as the different groups use the same logic its worth a read.

PETA supports both Animal liberation Front[who has close links to ANTIFA] and Earth Liberation Front. All three are groups well used to using violence, and ALF was rated by the FBI in the 1990s as being more dangerous than the American Neo-Nazi group of Aryan Nations.
    https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/vvabpy/foia-docs-reveal-an-fbi-investigation-into-an-animal-rights-organization-it-considers-a-terrorist-group-v24n4
Make no mistake our lot, small that they have links to ALF and other headbangers like Robin Webb and Rodger Yates who teaches in UCD https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Yates#Vegan_Ireland,_Animal_Education_Outreach,_Animal_Rights_Month
You support PETA or animal rights of these peoples dictum. You might as well support ISIL,as they are cut from the same block of wood.

So the Irish cancer society refused funding from a hunt crowd that has donated to the ICS for the last 14 years because of "an outcry of objections from survivors and people".

Yet the so called ICABS said it was they that contacted the ICS.

I've lost family to cancer, as i'm sure many have, and i would have thought that a society that uses animals for testing and has accepted the money for the last 14 years would be more concerned with keeping a flow of donations coming and working towards eradicating this plague than caving to the uneducated and false scruples of a handful of people with a hidden agenda.

Hate to say it, but if that is the case then i;ll be thinking twice about donating to the ICS ever again.

Another case of politics creeping into an institution that should be above such things. All be cause of virtue signalling.

    That is madness....

And typical of the twisted mindset of these people. That money could have been used to ease a patients suffering or to fund new drugs to cure cancer. But no they would sooner risk a persons life than to let a charity accept money from a certain sporting organisation.
SHAME ON THE ICS for allowing themselves to be used by an unscrupulous organisation who want to further their own agenda and care damn all about the consequences. That is very poor judgement on their behalf, you would imagine funding of any kind would be grabbed with both hands considering all public money will be diverted from these organisations to pay for the new Children's Hospital.

Strange tho,ICABS has nothing on its website about their great "victory" and NARA has only got on its FB page the Indo article... The boul Bernie has just got the same on her FB page...Bit of an own goal perhaps??:)

It's on their FB page, but they don't seem to be doing the normal victory lap as you say, just promoting it was done.

It does seem as though they pushed it to happen, but expected backlash so everything was done quietly so they had some sort of plausible deniability.

The new crowd along with their colleagues the Munster hunt sabs, posting quite a lot on FB.
It seems fox shooters are now their new target going by this post...If you are out foxing watch out for this bunch of muppetts folks

We showed up in an area on the Mayo/Galway border today where we had gained info on a Fox shoot .They are believed to be Hunters that have moved on to fox extermination now that game shooting season is over ,this is believed to part of a national fox shooting competition. We scouted an area for a while eventually seeing a gathering of vehicles and gunman .Appearing to be put off by the weather and after about 30 mins chatting roadside moved off to what we hope was the end of their days shooting. We scouted local known hunting areas with no further signs of them . Please get in touch should you wish to join us in the field or have any info on Wildlife persecution in the West!
