Can't fault Dundalk tbh, they've won us all a chunk this season there was always going to be a slip up from them sooner or later.

    ***LEAGUE OF IRELAND BETS***

Tough set of fixtures this weekend with just myself and Alan around to pick them. All small stakes this week as it looks like a minefield set of fixtures.

    Bohemians -v- Bray Wanderers - Friday 7.45pm
New manager syndrome set in with Bray last week as Trevor Croly took over the reigns and managed to surprise most with a 1-0 win over St. Pats. Bohs are coming off the back of two losses in Galway, Friday in the League and Monday in the League Cup which went to Extra-Time which seen some first teamers play. This bet isn't form based so it's not much else to mention aside from team news.
Bohs have a list of doubtfuls all facing late fitness tests Derek Pender, Anto Murphy, Dave Mulcahy, Dean Kelly, and Paddy Kavanagh. While first team goalkeeper Dean Delany whose played a big part for them this is out suspended.
Bray Wanderers have just two doubtfuls Niall Cooney and David Scully, neither major.

    Bray Double Chance 12/5 (Bet365) - SMALL

    Wexford Youths -v- Athlone - Friday 8pm
Having spoke to a few mates who were down in Athlone last week for the Shels match it's clear Athlone have gotten extremely poor, couldn't defend and conceded 3 goals as a result. While Wexford hit a bump last Friday being hammered 4-1 by UCD they were doing well and still sit in 2nd spot. Furlong has been key to their season and he'll be looking to add to his 12 goals (in 11 games) this season against a defensively poor Athlone side.
Wexford Youths will go into this game without the injured Dean Broaders (achilles) but apart from that Shane Keegan has a fully fit squad to choose from. No team news from Athlone yet, but they were missing top goalscorer Gorman last week which would be a huge plus if he's out this week.
    Wexford win @ 21/20 (Boyles) - SMALL

    Longford -v- Limerick - Saturday 7.30pm
Longford will be looking to put their last two tough games against Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers behind them when they welcome bottom placed Limerick. Limerick have yet to win a game, drawing 5 and losing 8. Limerick have managed to concede a whopping 28 goals in 13 games, scoring just 10. This bet is at least a half win in our opinion!

    Longford -0.75 Asian @ 1.80 (General) - SMALL

    Cork/Rovers - No bet
    Derry City/Sligo - No bet
    Drogs/Galway - Overs
    Pats/Dundalk - BTTS
    Shels/Waterford - Waterford Double Chance
    Cabinteely/Cobh - Unders
    Harps/UCD - Overs

    Bray DC wins
Wexford were 2 up, poxy generator!
Longford 1-0 FT means half win/half refund!

    Decent week!

Sheriff YC or Crumlin have much of a chance in the cup this weekend?

Personally at the odds I'd have a few quid on each, Sheriff YC have had a very congested fixture list lately so don't know how they'll find a trip to Belfield. Crumlin are Crumlin, always a solid side.

Will have a brief write up with 2 bets, and some overview in the next 30 mins.

    ***LEAGUE OF IRELAND BETS***

It's FAI Cup weekend which means we'll probably see some mad results but hopefully we've gotten two nice bets! Bear in mind most of these non-League sides season are over or nearly over.

    Bray Wanderers -v- Limerick - Friday 7.45pm
Limerick without a win in all of their 14 Premier Division games this season travel to Bray for a match to take their minds off things. These two sides only met early last month which resulted in a 4-0 Bray win. Brays appointment of Trevor Croly has sparked a win against Pats and a draw against high flying Bohs.
Limerick Right-back Seán Harding (ankle) is ruled out once again while midfielder Jason Hughes (ankle) and striker Vinny Faherty (foot) are doubtful. Defensive duo Robbie Williams and Paudie O’Connor are one yellow card away from a suspension and will miss the trip to Richmond Park in a fortnight if they are booked tomorrow, which might mean they'll be rested
    .
    Bray -0.25 Asian @ 1.95 (Bet365) - MEDIUM

Cobh Wanderers -v- Avondale Utd - Sunday 2pm
A Junior Munster Senior League side come up against a Senior one but rumour from our Corkie Graeme is that all's not well at Avondale.
"Their manager was forced out, a few players won't play for him. Danny Long who was their captain is one of them, he got most of their FAI goals last season. They needed extra time to beat Blarney on Sunday. Blarney are in Division 1. Few of Avondales players from last season play with Cobh now as it's their local side. Conor Meade, Mikey O Shea, John Meade and Ian Stapleton are 4 that have played LOI and left Avondale to sign for Cobh"

    Cobh Wanderers @ 4/1 (General) - SMALL

    Friday:
Bohemians/Firhouse - Bohs should win here easy enough.
    Drogheda/Cabinteely - Overs a bet maybe
Dundalk/Shelbourne - Should be a 2+ goal win for Dundalk
Galway/North End United - Galway far too short
St. Patricks/Shamrock Rovers - No bet, neither team will want to lose this
Tolka Rovers/Waterford - Waterford -1 Asian could be decent, Tolka struggling for players
    Longford/Finn Harps - Overs
Wexford/Cork City - Danny Furlony could be out for Wexford so no bet, possibly goals if he plays.

    Saturday:
Killester Utd/Cobh Ramblers - Either side could win
Athlone/Liffey Wanderers - Liffey will still be on a high after turning over Sheriff in the FAI Junior Cup, big odds here.

    Sunday:
Edenderry/Derry City - Derry should win easy enough here but no bet, Edenderry are a 3rd tier Leinster Senior side.
Cockhill Celtic/St Mochta’s - Mochta's have ex-LoI player Glen Crowe who's firing for them this season, Cockhill a good side.
Sligo Rovers/Crumlin Utd - Crumlin can't win the League so will be completely focused on this, could be worth a small punt at big odds.
    UCD/Sheriff YC

    Bray -0.25 Asian @ 1.95 (Bet365) - MEDIUM

    Cobh Wanderers @ 4/1 (General) - SMALL

BOOM for Bray! Cobh Wanderers drew 3-3 :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,963 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

Cobh Wanderers won 3-0 tonight in the replay, odds of 7/2 about supposedly. Completely missed this as I was out after work.

    ***LEAGUE OF IRELAND BETS***
League action is back this week, myself and Aidan Morris have a few picks we like!

    Dundalk -v- Bohemians - Friday 7.45pm
Dundalk and Bohs meet for the 2nd time this season, Dundalk snatched a 3-0 win in Dalymount last time out. Dundalk are in flying form and will want to go into the summer break with a win, and to make it 7 consecutive League wins in a row. Dundalks season stats are excellent with 12 wins, 2 draws and no losses, scoring 33 and conceding just 5. They've managed 10 clean sheets in their 14 games!
Dundalk are boosted by the fact that he has a full squad to choose from as Brian Gartland (hamstring), Darren Meenan (groin) and Stephen O’Donnell (Achilles tendon) have all recovered from their respective injuries to return to the panel and there are no suspension worries.
Bohs' Derek Pender and Marc Griffin are both set to be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Paddy Kavanagh and Anto Murphy are also out after picking up injuries in recent games, while striker Dean Kelly is rated 50/50 as he tries to shake off a recent injury problem.

    Dundalk -1.25 Asian @ 1.80 (Bet365) - LARGE

    Wexford -v- Shelbourne - Friday 8pm
Odds have been crusted on this, Wexford down to 21/20 after being upwards of 7/5 earlier in the week. Top goalscorer Danny Furlong has been doubtful the last few weeks but if he starts he should run the show here. Shels possibly missing a few important players.

    Wexford win @ 21/20 (Boyles) - SMALL

    Athlone -v- Finn Harps - Friday 7.45pm
Top of the table Harps travel to Athlone to face struggling Athlone side who've just managed 15 points in 11 games, and only narrowly coming through the FAI Cup against non-League side Liffey Wanderers.

    Harps DNB @ 5/6 (General) - SMALL

    Bray/Longford - Possibly goals
Derry/Pats - A very well known Pats fan passed away on Monday suddenly and they'll want to win this for him, all were in attendance for his funeral today.
    Galway/Cork - No bet
Limerick/Drogs - Limerick move back to a renovated Market Fields after 31 years, could be a big crowd at this and value in Lims win.
Rovers/Sligo - Wanted to tip Rovers Asian but they're not prolific at home.

Cobh/Waterford - Good bet in Cobh at odds against
    UCD/Cabinteely - Manger-less Cabinteely will struggle

No major value tonight .done a small treble cork pats and a draw between bray and Longford . Pays 11 to 1 .

  • Registered Users Posts: 311 ✭✭robjones1981

    Another win for Shels Gav

What has changed since the three defeats in a row where they looked like a side with no direction or ideas at all?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,114 ✭✭✭dinneenp

Only 2/5 but Rovers to beat Derry tonight.
Shamrock are a full 17 points in front of Derry. Derry have't won in six games, while Shamrock are unbeaten so far this season and on a winning run that goes back to last September. Shamrock have scored eight goals in their last two home games and this one could be full of goals again tonight. Home win and the unbeaten home run goes on.

rovers are 1 to 2 in spoils

Diabolical bets over the weekend, want on Rovers -1 Asian later but not 100%.

What has changed? Me missing two of the last 4 games they've won :D We looked ok against Waterford, Cabinteely we looked muck and I missed the two aways. I'll be a better judge after seeing us tomorrow out in UCD and Friday against Cobh. Think we're just slugging out results tbh.

Dire! Adam O'Connors goal is a potential goal of the season, peach of a strike! Two we conceded were disgraceful, we can't defend set pieces at all! Need to stop driving to the odd game, Shels games need a couple of pints to be endurable!

    *************League of Ireland bets***********

So after a horrible Friday of betting last week with a large loss we are back this week with hopefully 3 winners. We are sticking to a medium and two small stakes. One of the lads done the write up, myself and him have been researching these bets the last few days and feel these are the strongest 3 to go for.

    St Pats vs Limerick
Pats are coming off the back decent wins, home to shamrock rovers, away to Derry and home to bohs. With a slow start to the league pats have put together a decent run of form and are starting to look like the side who won the league 2 years ago. With Fagan back up top and starting to score it’s a huge boost for pats and he was clearly what they had been missing.
Last week pats won very convincingly at home to Bohs 3-1. Pats really controlled the midfield the whole game and could have won by more.
Limerick on the other hand are coming off the back of 4 loses in a row and are playing extremely poor. With the way pats can take control of the midfield and ping it about, along with having Fagan back up top and scoring this should see a comfortable win for Pats. It’s a must win game for pats to keep close to the European places.
BET 1 : St Patricks -2 Asian Handicap @1.850 MEDIUM STAKE
    *************************************************************************************

    Cork City vs Bray Wanderers
With the unthinkable happening and Dundalk losing to Bohs last week, Cork can temporarily join Dundalk at the top of the table. We’ve won plenty of money on Cork at home this season and as we know they are extremely solid at home. We fully expect Cork to come out strong at home and go for goals against a poor Bray side.
Bray with the recent of Trevor Croly have had two good results against Bohs and Pats but just recently lost at home to Longford, a game in which Bray looked very poor. It will be a huge task to go down to Cork and get a result and if Cork score early you can expect the Bray heads to drop and Cork to rack up a few goals
    Bet 2 : Cork -1.75 @1.725 SMALL STAKE
    ***************************************************************************************

    Sligo Rovers vs Dundalk
With the recent rumours of Owen Heary being sacked by Sligo being false, Sligo are still in the exact same position with many of the players and most of the fans pretty much hating Heary. Until Heary leaves or gets sacked from Sligo it’s unlikely that they will start improving. Sligo’s last game was a hammering away to Shamrock Rovers which finished 5-1. With any confidence the squad had left most likely gone it will be a huge ask of Sligo getting anything off Dundalk, even at home.
Dundalk lost their first game of the season on Friday night after they seemed to get a small bit complacent at home to Bohs. After the loss Dundalk will want to put things back to normal right away. Dundalk are now just 3 points ahead of Cork at the top of the league and they know they need a win to keep some daylight between them and Cork. Dundalk are still playing very well and have no new injury concerns going into the game with Sligo. We fully expect them to beat Sligo by a couple of goals here.
    BET 3 : Dundalk -0.75 @1.800 SMALL STAKE

Any fancies for bohs vs rovers for tonight seeing as it's on the telly?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,763 ✭✭✭spurshero

i fancy rovers . Their in good form lately and have a bigger pick considering this is both teams 3 rd game in a week . Bohs are missing a few players and rivers are missing drennan but seem to have better options and should have enough to take the 3 points
