Working very hard at the moment. Three of the five members have managed to grow their families by one in the past few months so everythings slowed down as nappy brain has swept through the group.

Sleep deprived meetings but meetings nonetheless and progess being made. Hope to make some announcements Feb 29th.

Great stuff, seriously looking forward to hearing the line-up. It should be another unreal weekend, as long as the "there's no Oxegen so we better get wrecked in some other field" crowd don't descend on the place...fingers crossed!

Think either 12th or 15th of April

    Cool, Thanks for replying!
Is there going to be an announcement of the lesser known bands beforehand?

From the sounds of it they have plenty of the bands lined up already but they want to start with a bang announcing the headliners! I'm sure the lesser known names will be announced straight after the headliners

Went to it last year, there were still tickets being sold on the weekend it was on.

Not sure will it be the same this year or not, but I'd say you'll be able to get tickets after the announcement no bother!

Must say had a quality time at it. There was just a really nice vibe about the place.

I'd been to Oxegen twice and there's always a few idiots at that but at Indiependence I didn't bump into any eejit - everyone seemed in great from and were there to enjoy themselves. I'd def recommend it!

Feeder, Jape, Frank & Walters, Delorentos and Japanese Popstars confirmed for starters.

Japanese Popstars are a good catch, Feeder are ok but not to my taste( would consider them to be has-beens). Jape, Frank & Walters and Delerentos have all played before.

Not to impressed really, the line up's seem a bit lazy and surely Indiependence are making enough money now to be getting higher profile bands?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 158 ✭✭Curve Music

None of the main stage headliners have been announced yet. This is just the start of announcements. We will launch fully on 24th of April, no later.

    Feeder aren't headlining

Any American bands to be announced?

Tickets.ie is the ticket site Indie use. You can get them there already and they are safe out just in case you have never heard of them

Plenty rumours flying around down here in Cork over the weekend about who will be announced. However, two acts that everyone seemed to have in common were Biffy Clyro and Bell X1..

Does this usually sell out? If Biffy are announced I'd say it could..

It doesn't usually sell out, I've been the last 2 years and it's never been crammed full of people during headliner time of night.

Looking forward to the announcement. The campsite was great craic last year.

Biffy Clyro next to be added supposedly

Just thought to check their website and... no update yet. Maybe they're keeping their powder dry until the launch night at Cyprus Avenue, tonight?

My top theories are still that mentions of Biffy are either, most likely, fan-generated rumour out of whole cloth, or else publicity-seeking conspiracy by Dark Forces(TM). But who knows, maybe they're at a loose end that weekend, and feel the urge to do an Irish festival, regardless of whether it's called "Oxegen", features tents on fire, etc, or not. Or, they're feeling guilty for not having played Cork since 2007. 2007!

I presume Feeder are not headlining? since didnt Curve Music say something like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Very meh to that lineup. Scroobius and at a push Feeder the only ones i'd pay to go see, but won't be with that lineup.

Very disappointed to be honest. Gone a bit backwards since they had someone like Editors headlining.

Brains and Wizards of Firetop Mountain are two bands that are not really well known but definetly worth going to see.

Other than that, not much there for me.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 15,562 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

Yea according to the Line Up by "day" there is no headliner or "biggish name" like the other ones .

Im happy with 2 May DJS , Feeder , Beardyman , Fighting With Wire , Japanese Popstars , Scroobius Pip , Ham Sambo and The Minutes . Tickets gonna be bought next weekend :)
